Failed the one hour glucose. Not remotely surprised. Just disappointed. I hate having to torture myself with multiple glucose tests and the three hour will be the third one this pregnancy alone. I guess there’s a tiny chance I’ll pass the three hour but I have already resigned myself to three months of awful. I just think it’s so unfair how so many people I know wound up with GD and they eat well and exercise regularly and take care of themselves. Like me. But bad luck and a dose of genetics and I have to stress over my unborn kid’s glucose levels for 12 more weeks.
The one silver lining is that a scheduled induction eases my mind about not having anyone to watch my kids while I’m in the hospital if I go suddenly, versus scheduling it and knowing my mom is coming to stay on a specific day.
I had to do the whole three-hour test ordeal with my first and it's no fun at all, especially when you feel like you're doing everything right and still hit these hurdles. The waiting and worrying definitely don't help. It's rough when you're taking care of yourself and still end up facing these challenges. But hey, at least having a scheduled induction gives you a bit of peace of mind, right? It's one less thing to stress about, which is always a win in my book. Hang in there, fingers crossed the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly!
OH I was going to share, I just got my Momcozy M5s in and am super excited. I still have my spectra from my first so decided to get a wearable this time and was able to get these covered by my insurance.
I asked them if I could skip the three hour and just start testing instead. I’m not gonna subject myself or this baby to 100g of glucose, especially since we probably have it anyway. Day two of testing and keeping numbers where they should be. One day at a time. Hoping to not need more than a small dose of meds for overnight fasting numbers, and no insulin. 🤞🏻 I didn’t need insulin for DS so I’m hopeful.
Also, rant: I contacted insurance to ask why one of my MFM appointments cost $600 when the other cost $0 and clearly I shouldn’t have because they were like “oh, that was a mistake!” And now the second one is $400 and not $0. I hate American healthcare. And also, finances are not looking good so I really hope I don’t have to see the mfm again.
My appt went well. Babys HB is good and we are measuring on track. Got TDAP & blood taken. Urine & BP looks good too. Finally started gaining weight but I gained like 7 lbs very quickly. I have a hard time controlling myself around food so I know this next 12 weeks will be hard. Waiting for lab results 🤞🏻 the glucola drink was definitely harder for me to drink this time but overall not horrible.
@virtaur, I hope you don't get sick! My husband has gotten sick a few times while I've been pregnant and he always gets a fever! 🙃 Luckily I only got sick once around my first 8 week appointment. It was the most miserable week though.
@stress_engine thank you! He thinks it was something he ate because he’s feeling better this morning with no fever so I think I’m in the clear! I was sick twice in first tri so I really don’t want to get sick now!
so baby is very active which I love, but honestly sometimes the pace and intensity of movements is shocking. Like, I didn’t think a fetus could stomp and punch so fast? It almost feels like a spasm or something? Jeez Louise!
also it’s hitting me like a ton of bricks that I am entering the third trimester and we are NOT READY AT ALL. No baby furniture, only about half the supplies etc we need. Between holidays and new year and vacation we just haven’t started…. Deep breaths…..
@louloumama yes the movements are shocking for me too!! They really move a lot. I saw a video on FB of a fetus during a MRI and that was crazy haha I don’t have a lot either except for the clothes/things we’re reusing. You've got some time!
I'm sure I'm fine, but I am feeling so big! I keep thinking that my belly is too big for 25 weeks, like how?! I guess I kind of have a short torso, so maybe there isn't anywhere else to shove my organs or elongate baby... Literal MATERNITY shirts are getting tight/short this week, things that have worked great for the past month or so. I thought I was set with the few things that I have worked hard to find. Ugh, what do women even wear for 3rd trimester?! 😳
@stress_engine tunic maternity shirts & my husbands clothes 😂 they should start measuring your fundal height at your 28 week appt so they’ll be able to tell you if you’re on track or measuring big!
Aww, love this conversation, lol! Most of the time mine will get up with me during my insomnia and it is the sweetest uninterrupted time for me to focus on her. A few nights ago, she wouldn't do it and I was starting to feel a little upset/worried about it. She finally gave me the weakest little kick, rolled over a tiny bit, and seemed to go back to sleep. In the morning she really made up for it with lots of strong movement! Crazy that they seem to have a little personality and preferences starting already!
Mine has gotten more active in the daytime just in the last week or so, and today was the first time I’ve felt her squirming around while I’ve been up and moving. She’s almost always moving around when I’m awake at night, definitely makes sleepless nights more tolerable! She also seems to really like the new rocker glider we just got!
Mine is a late night baby too but she’s been active in the afternoon as well. Her butt (I’m assuming) is in the same general area as my sons was so that’s been fun to feel also kinda awkward when I’m sitting since it’s right by my ribs. I’m really hoping she’s head down!
