Insomnia

Anyone else finding it difficult to sleep now? What are you doing to combat sleepless nights? How are you all preparing for baby right now? We are getting her room painted this week and the crib is already set up. I still need to get organized with clothes/gear. I know I’m supposed to have another 12 weeks but I think I’m already in nesting mode!  I’m so anxious to get everything done in time!

Re: Insomnia

  • I asked one of the midwives at my practice a couple months ago about sleep because I was really struggling with insomnia, and she said unisom is safe throughout pregnancy. I've been on it since early second trimester. I've also been trying to read from an actual, physical book before bed to help wind down, which has really helped.

Baby prep is going so slowly over here... We have most of the physical stuff, but we have to get the toddler out of the nursery, which is being slowed by his new room currently being a storage space. It's about to drive me crazy, but we're getting there.

  • I realise that pregnancy can be a period of heightened anxiety and preparation for the baby's arrival. Here are some tips:
Sleep regime: If you find it difficult to fall asleep, try creating a cosy bedroom environment. Avoid bright lights before bed, practice relaxing techniques such as meditation or reading a book.
Preparing the room: It's great that you've already started preparing your baby's room. This can help you feel more confident and ready for the baby's arrival.
Organising things: Divide the preparation into stages and don't worry if something isn't done yet. Take things one step at a time and don't hesitate to ask for help from loved ones.
Conserving energy: It is also important to look after your physical and emotional state. Give yourself permission to rest and relax.
Pregnancy Tips: Talk to your doctor or pregnancy classes for more information and pregnancy tips if you have questions or concerns.
Don't forget that it's important to take care of your health and enjoy this special period. You still have time, and most importantly, don't burden yourself with unnecessary stress. Good luck with your preparations for the baby's arrival!
