Any potential VBAC moms?

Hi all! I’m a c-section momma now pregnant with my second. I had roughly one year between birth and the start of this new pregnancy. I spoke with a new OB before becoming pregnant to see what the possibility of VBAC is. There are a lot of factors that will need to fall in line and I might have already blown the first one by getting pregnant “too soon,” but I’ll know for sure when I see her at 9 weeks and can ask. I’m hoping to start this thread not for advice per say but just support and (hopefully) knowing I’m not in this alone ❤️.

Hi! I had a VBAC with my second and I didn’t wait as long as you to get pregnant so don’t lose hope! My girls are a year and a half apart in age and my first was an emergency c section. My doctor had me schedule a c section for my second a week past my due date and said they weren’t comfortable with me going past that date. I was so worried I’d be forced into a c section when that just really wasn’t what I wanted. I spent all of my third trimester walking daily, sitting on a medicine ball, etc. doing anything and everything I could for the baby to come before the scheduled c section and for my body to get ready for birth (the reason for my first c section was that I didn’t efface and the nurse measured me incorrectly and told me to push before I was ready which caused more swelling so my daughter just couldn’t fit through, heart rate started dropping etc.). The first c section was made even more traumatic for me because my epidural wore off and I could feel them starting to cut me- they ended up having to put me under for the procedure so I missed the first few hours of my daughters life and woke up terrified that she didn’t make it. Thankfully, my second daughter came a few days prior to the scheduled c section and I was able to have a vaginal birth. The recovery was so much easier than with a c section. I’m hoping that with my third I can have a vaginal birth as well.
All of this to say, you’re not pregnant too soon for it to be a possibility. For me, staying active during my pregnancy and finding safe ways to help the baby get into position and prep my body later in pregnancy was really helpful for me. Stay encouraged and talk to your doctor about all your options to make sure you’re comfortable. My doctor originally said I wouldn’t be allowed to be induced at all but at the hospital the doctor (a different one in my practice) induced me because I was progressing slowly but didn’t want to go home. I hope this helps!

  • Ohmygoodness that gives me SO MUCH hope! I love your story!!! Thank you so so much for sharing 💕💕💕! Praying for your third to go well like your second! I was starting to dread having the convo with my doc but after hearing that I have some excitement again ☺️
  • Good tips for third trimester too! I’m trying to keep up jogging as long as I can and then will switch to walking.
  • Hi! I had a vbac with my second (now pregnant with my third) and my dr had a chart she used that put in all my risk factors to help us decide if we should try for a vbac or not. It make a huge difference too why you had a C-section the first time. I was induced with my first baby and that resulted in her heart rate dropping because of stress- resulting in an urgent c section. Because of that we decided I would NOT be induced again, let my body go into labor naturally unless I went overdue past what I was comfortable with. Funny part is, my (backup) C-section was planned for 11am on December 31 and my water broke at 1am on December 31. Baby knew his eviction notice had come and he needed to get out. He was born at 12pm Dec 31- about the exact time he would have been if I had had a C-section!
