Re: Weekly Check-in w/o 1/21
rave - we have finally been able to go outside! Thank goodness it’s warmed up
it’s been hard to not eat some things like deli meat, medium rare steak etc because it all sounds so good!
It’s only been a few days but refraining from sex and vigorous excercise for the duration is a real downer. I cried when she told me lol. I think the hardest change will be looking after my big kids with a new baby in hand. I anticipate a lot of baby wearing.
I thought not drinking beer/wine would be harder honestly. I am glad there are a lot of non-alcoholic options around now a days. But there have been a few times in the holidays while my whole family was having wine/whiskey tastings that I did feel left out.
I think just changing our schedule to accommodate a baby is going to be really hard. We are used to doing things on our schedule and that is not going to be possible anymore!

Upcoming Appointments: Ugh - I don't know. Working on rescheduling my anatomy scan (see rant below) and may have to reschedule my midwife appointment that is currently scheduled for this Friday based on that
How are you feeling?: I had a stomach bug over the weekend so that was ROUGH, but now that I'm passed that, pretty good minus some lower back pain. I switched my pillow (just my normal sleeping pillow) and that made a huge difference for me for some reason - hopefully that continues!
Rants/Raves:
Rant: So as I said I had a stomach bug over the weekend, starting on Friday. My anatomy scan was supposed to be on Friday, but I couldn't leave bed nor would anyone want to be around me, so I had to reschedule. Unfortunately my midwives (and therefore ultrasound at the perinatal center) is through a huge hospital provider and their appointment scheduling system is the WORST if you have to do it by phone. So I've emailed everyone I can think of and left messages with the appointment messaging line and now it's just a waiting game of trying to get a new date.
Rave: Finally feeling the baby moving on a regular basis. So weird how it went from less than once a week to suddenly being like at least once a day. Also, after last week I'll add a rave is that there is no snow in the forecast for the foreseeable future! Woo hoo!
Mixture of Rant and Rave: I weaned my 17 month old over the weekend! She was only nursing once a day so it's a relatively small final step, but still feels like a big deal. I was ready to be done, so in that way it's a rave (and it's nice to have one less thing to do in the morning before daycare), but I'm also a little sad about it too. I've known I wanted to do it before this baby comes and on Friday when I was super sick I couldn't imagine nursing her - and with a snow day that day it was a three day weekend which made it good timing as well. She's done so great with the change, but I'm feeling sad about it now that I'm all better and realizing that we are done with that stage of our relationship.
Questions: None right now.
GTKY: What’s been the hardest thing to refrain from during pregnancy? What do you anticipate being the hardest change when baby gets here? During pregnancy, there are so many food things I'm struggling with (last time it would have easily been alcohol, but different stage of life this time I guess). It's a tie between a good medium rare steak because I've had some cravings for that and sushi because my husband eats sushi all the time. When baby gets here I think just the change from 1 to 2 kids in general.
@kbru88 Congrats on your first boy! How exciting for your family!
Any recs for constipation relief? I've been taking a fiber supplement, but it's not helping much.
Does anyone else feel the baby move all over? I can feel baby way low, almost near my crotch, then up high, almost near my boobs. I don't think the baby and my uterus are that big yet, so it seems like a wide range of movement.
What do you anticipate being the hardest change when baby gets here? Probably being tied to baby's schedule. My older kids are 5 & 7, so it's been a while since we had to adhere to a baby's sleeping/eating schedule.

Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
just trying to take everything day by day. It’s been quite to process jumping into a new role at work, while I’m dealing with all these changes around pregnancy. But I keep reminding myself that I’m doing the best I can do in all aspects of my life.
I think just adjusting to parenthood. Getting to know what your baby needs instinctively. I know that it will get easier over time though.
Probably going from one baby to two under two!
Maybe going back to newborn phase. Other two girls at 8 and 6. But also excited to have a newborn again. Hardest thing is that I feel a lot worse this time around, I feel like I’m already third trimester.
Rave: the roads were good both times for the drive. Probably the best I've seen for Jan driving!
I would love a beverage every now and then.
For when the baby I'd here, probably managing 3 under 2 🙃
Sub Sandwiches. Mmmmm 🤤 I already told my hubby an Italian sandwich from Jimmy John’s was the first thing I wanted after birth and turkey with spicy ranch is the second.
What do you anticipate being the hardest change when baby gets here? Going back to work! My company allows for us to take maternity leave from the time we find out we’re pregnant until 8 weeks post birth. After that, we can stay out until baby’s first birthday unpaid but we can’t afford the unpaid bit for more than 3 months so back to work I go after almost a year off.
