So I'm only 20 weeks pregnant now and my hip joint specifically hurts a lot when I stand up or sit down or put any weight on it. I know that hip and joint pain in general is normal but I am concerned because the pain is only in my left hip and I feel like my baby isn't even heavy enough yet for me to be feeling so much pain where I have to walk slowly and carefully. I am also on my feet a lot and I exercise lightly so my labour will be smooth, also I think I used to get out of bed or sit up to quickly and I wonder if I've injured myself internally at the hip. I just feel like even though hip pain is normal, what I'm experiencing is a bit more intense than it should be at this stage. Does anyone else have the same experience? Am I overthinking things?
Re: Severe Hip Pain at 5 months
There are so many changes that happen to the body during pregnancy, and the hips often take the brunt. If there’s a strength imbalance in the hip, or loss of core strength, you can see one-sided pain. It’s very unlikely that anything internal happened during pregnancy, especially if you’re not playing sports. My guess is that it’s probably muscular and I’d say go to PT because it can get better very easily.
