Baby is the size of a (an): cauliflower blossom

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙

    Upcoming Appointments: NST/BBP/ growth check

How are you feeling?: Still a little congested. Managed to avoid the tummy bug so far 🤞 Lots of lower back discomfort. My hips too but I feel it more in my butt cheeks than on the sides of my legs.

Rants/Raves: got a lot of nesting done this weekend. Built the crib, dresser, glider, and book/toy shelf. Washed newborn and 0-3 clothes and sheets/blankets etc. Acquired copious amounts of hand sanitizer. So we are very nearly baseline ready. Need some wipes and a few other odds and ends but all the big stuff is done - including selling my car and getting a used mini van.

    Questions:

GTKY: I have had fewer this time around unfortunately. My dreams with my first kid were so so funny. I did have one a few weeks ago that I was taking a calculus class with my 6 year old and he was doing better than me 😂

Baby is the size of a (an): zucchini

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙💙

Upcoming Appointments: Nothing this week, but one with the nurse educator and one with the MW next week.

How are you feeling?: Big. I am officially 30 weeks, but measuring 40 weeks. I definitely feel way bigger than I did with my other kids. Doing anything is a chore, and there's still 8 weeks to go! Fatigue is back, akin to first trimester - lately I have woken up and been ready for a nap an hour later. It's hard to get much done, that's for sure.

    Rants/Raves:
Rant: Both boys are still breech - I know there's still time for them to move, but I would really rather that they do it!
Rave: We set a date for the baby shower/sprinkle in 2 weeks, so it's fun to be planning!

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams?  Yes? But none that I can remember 🤷🏻‍♀️

How are you feeling?: Sooooo much better. Sore and waddling but overall worlds better.

Rants/Raves: Rave for having the few tiny clothes I have clean and folded and the baby's corner of my room set up! I still need to wash diapers, but I am pretty much ready.

Questions: We talked earlier on about meal prep. Does anyone have any great freezer meal recipes or resources?

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? Not really! I had one dream I gave birth and was surprised that the baby was the size of a 9 month old and could sit up, eat solids, etc!
  •  ceclarlinetlo I found that butterfly stretches helped with butt cheeks and hips

hedgepig I feel you on the napping. It’s like my energy is zapped as soon as I breathe lol

farm_mama the only one I can think of off the top of my head is like a roast beef crockpot freezermeal

How are you feeling?: anxious for sure. Just ready to ask my ob all the questions and see if baby is head down this week as well. Doing an anatomy scan b/c at 20 wk scan he had fluid in the tubes connected to the kidney (which for boys apparently can be common?)

Rants/Raves: we aren’t having baby shower which I’m bummed about but trying to stay positive for this year

    Questions:

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams?  Yes! But it was weird and I woke up super anxious about it lol
  • @farm_mama do you like soups? I have a soup that freezes really well.

It’s super simple and very forgiving, and quick to make. You can use diced, shredded or even ground chicken, and any kind of beans you like or have on hand. This is my usual go-to version though:

    1 jar pace salsa
1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes
    1-2 lbs shredded chicken
    1 packet taco seasoning
    1 Tablespoon cumin
    1/2 tablespoon chili powder
    1 can black beans rinsed
1 can red kidney beans rinsed
    1 package frozen mixed veggies
    4 cups chicken bone broth

Mix everything well, bring to a boil, simmer 20ish minutes.

Baby is the size of a (an): eggplant

    Team blue/pink/green: green

    Upcoming Appointments: not until Feb

How are you feeling?: pretty good.

Rants/Raves: go back to work tomorrow and I’m bummed. This break has been lovely! Passed the GD screener by my lab numbers (but barely) so I’m assuming no news is good news from them, especially since they were quick to reply to my borderline anemic numbers from a blood draw at the same time. Still a little paranoid, though!

Questions: iron supplement recs? The stuff I took last time was a gentle on the tummy version, but can’t find it now.

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams?  I know I have, but can’t remember them now 🤷‍♀️
  • @halfanewt

I am taking Mary Ruth's prenatal liquid iron supplement. It is disgusting and seriously tastes like rusty nails. As long as I take it in a shot glass, chase it with tons of water, and make sure I don't get any on my lips it is okay. 🤣 The good news is I could feel a difference after about two days.

I have ordered this one as well, but I haven't tried it yet. (I won't take both at the same time of course!)

Floradix, Floravital Iron & Herbs Vegan Liquid Supplement, Energy Support for Women and Men, Easily Absorbed, Non-GMO, Vegan, Kosher, Lactose-Free, Unflavored, 8.5 https://a.co/d/0ZcROHo

    @ceclarlinetlo

I love soup and that looks exactly like what we need! I have white bean chicken Chili and ground beef taco soup on my list. I can't decide how to do the beans. I feel like when I've precooked my beans before they got mushy, but freezing dry beans seems weird? I use an instant pot regularly so my thought was put dry beans in and just account for cook time? Idk I am over thinking it!
  • @ceclarlinetlo congrats on the nesting and prep! So need to get started on that… can I ask what helped you make the choice to swap to minivan? We’re going back and forth on trying 3 across or making the swap.

@hedgepig hope the sprinkle is fun! Remind me, are you hosting?

@farm_mama I’m always a fan of freezing bulk spaghetti sauce. Spaghetti squash bowls are also awesome. Chopped up veg for crockpot meals/soups. Lots of breakfast breads, scones, etc, for easy breakfasts. I find I’m most hungry/have least patience for cooking in the morning, but can usually manage to cobble a dinner together throughout the day.

@alexxajams hope the appt on the 5th goes well!
  • @ceclarlinetlo I envy your readiness. Glad you guys are feeling better and FX it stays that way.

@hedgepig I have no idea how you are doing it friend. I feel stretched with just the one. And I know twins inherently have less room, but all of my babes including this one have been flip floppy until the last minute. I tell myself not to stress, but it’s hard not to.

@farm_mama so glad you are doing better ❤️ no real recipe, but with my first I prepped a ton of breakfast burritos that I wrapped in parchment and then aluminum foil and would warm them up in the toaster oven, or could remove the foil and microwave them. They were the best for early breastfeeding days when you only have one hand to eat and I was always starving in the mornings.

@alexxajams hope baby eases your anxiety by staying head down. My baby literally changes direction multiple times a day. Always interesting feeling where they are.

@halfanewt im currently trying to raise my hemoglobin at the request of my midwife. She recommended ionic chlorophyll in water once or twice a day which I’ve started. And i bought Floridex as I heard it is very effective and works quickly. Waiting on it to be delivered. I also use Lucky Iron Fish to infuse water with iron that I keep in the fridge and drink over a few days. It doesn't alter the taste at all and will be good to use for baby too once they start eating solids. Cooking in cast iron is a great way to passively increase iron intake if you have it.

How are you feeling?: pretty good, lots of energy this last week so I’m hoping to know off some of my to do list and purge the bedrooms. My boys both seemed to have sized up so I need to swap their dressers again😫

Rants/Raves: silly rant- my 7yo is apparently in 10/12s size 3.5 shoes and I just do not accept it😂 I’m only 5’2 and at this rate he’s going to be taller than me by June.

    Questions:

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? I always have strange dreams when pregnant but I can never remember details just a feeling of wtf when I wake up.

How are you feeling?: tired. Fiiiiinally starting to kick the cold symptoms I've been dealing with for months.

Rants/Raves: I dunno. I really would like very much to undecorate and get the house ready but have zero energy so that's a rant I guess. A rave, I finally got an appointment with the pelvic floor PT this week so we'll see how that goes.

Questions: how do you chose a cute coming home outfit? I have no idea and I'm running out of time to order something

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? All the time but I usually wake up and am like oh that was a dream and forget it immediately
  • Hey everyone, happy new year!

    EDD / Weeks + Days: April 2, 27w

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Lettuce

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: GD tomorrow and then with the midwives in a week

How are you feeling?: Ok, still suffering from some pregnancy related anxiety (and maybe depression) but better than before. Heartburn is no joke and I'm feeling plumper by the minute with some back pain but all the physical stuff is pretty manageable so far.

Rants/Raves: We had a very fun NYE! Every year that we can we join a cohort of my husband's college friends and gather at a house (either a rented airbnb or someone with a big enough space hosts) somewhere on the eastern seaboard usually as he went to college outside Philly and most folks are between DC and NYC (we did DC this year so a small road trip for us). I think this year there were 15-20 of us and someone brought their kiddo while someone else was pregnant so a fun vibe (2 years ago I brought our little guy, he was the first small human of the group and was very spoiled because of it).

    Questions:

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? I mean, not really funny/strange but mostly amorphous that have made me panicky which has been my least fav thing about this pregnancy. Would take some funny ones!
  • @SpartanCat what’s the weather like where you are? If you ever have variable weather you might actually want to pick two options. I live in the southern US and in 2019 I spent all this time crocheting an outfit for my second who was due middle of October thinking it would be a little chilly by then. Dude had to wear a random onesie home because not only was it not even chilly, it was 99 degrees outside when he went home. The hottest temp for that day on record ever by far. I am hoping to let this nugget wear it since he is due in February which is *usually* chilly but we’ve had an over all mild winter so watch it be like 70’s when he comes home 🙃

Want to show us some options you are considering?

Upcoming Appointments: Midwife on the 10th and Doula prenatal on the 11th

How are you feeling?: So exhausted. Feel like I haven’t caught up from the holidays. Work has been insane. So much flu and covid. Feel like I’m just treading water and no matter how much rest I get I’m still so exhausted. Maybe working on increasing my iron intake and hemoglobin will help with this.

Rants/Raves: DH started putting away the christmas stuff today and I’m so grateful. The visual clutter really gets to me after a while.

Questions: Any STM+ struggling with their toddlers? I didn't experience this my 2nd pregnancy, maybe because my son was 4 years old and long past breastfeeding, but im having a really hard time not feeling completely overwhelmed and overstimulated by how much my 21 month old needs me. It almost feels like this primal need to push her away and protect just me and baby. It’s terrible. The more she cries and hangs on me and reaches for me and wants to nurse, the more my skin crawls. It’s such an internal battle. Have never felt this way before and hoping to find some strategies to help as I want to WANT to spend as much time with her as the baby as I can before giving birth. This is the stuff that isn't in the parenting books.

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? Nothing strange or funny. Mostly just apocalyptic nightmares or nightmares of something happening to my kids or husband. Happens every pregnancy.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 6 Feb/35+0

Baby is the size of a (an): Pineapple

Team blue/pink/green: Elise is our name this week (but I we've liked others better, so might finally have honed in on our short short list!)

Upcoming Appointments: Next Tuesday (Grp B strep swab appt, woohoo)

How are you feeling?: Generally good, though I just woke up from an unplanned nap after lying down briefly to improve my breathing, which still gets really short at times.

Rants/Raves: Finally got around to the sewing machine stage of fixing the cloth diapers, and something is all wrong with the tension. Still need to successfully trouble-shoot, but my good intentions are once more delayed.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? All my dreams are super complicated/elaborate right now. But I generally don't remember them in any detail. We did try taking our cat out on harness, and then she got spooked and managed to wriggle out. So I've had a couple of dreams I vaguely remember about her escaping. But otherwise it's just too much!

@halfanewt - I'm taking feramax, because it's supposedly easier on your digestion (and I haven't had any problems). Seems fine, but I haven't noticed a boost in energy from iron levels going up.

@farm_mama - We have very little freezer space, so are a bit limited on prepping. But we've put aside a veg chilli dinner, three loafs of sourdough (I usually bake once a week), and some Indian curries. We were also planning to have weekly meal plans, because one of the biggest issues for us is just taking the time to come up with dinner ideas and have all the ingredients handy. This way we know exactly what we need to have in advance and can cook big batches just a few times a week.

  • @ceclarlinetlo we're in Michigan so it'll be around the 30s. Normally It'd be colder by now but this has been a weird winter.

I don't have anything picked out to chose between :( I thought about one of those little tied at the feet gown outfits I've seen around but I didnt know if that was more of a girly thing (yes I know, clothes are for everyone. Hard to break the thought process though). Maybe just a sleeper? We have some cute and fuzzy ones. We just took a pic of baby 1 in a swaddle while we were in the hospital so nothing fancy or "aesthetically pleasing" lol and the outfit we brought him home in was actually 0-3 months and he looked like a little old man his pants were so big 😂 still laughing about that one
  • @ceclarlinetlo That soup sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing!

@halfanewt How has your first week back at school been? Technically my mom is hosting, but I'm helping out a lot. We though my SIL would want to help too, but she's getting back from Europe a few days before and seems to have little interest, so whatever. My cousin is also helping out a bit, which is nice!

@night_nurse Thanks for the reassurance - my doc says the same thing, especially since I've had babies before, and my fluid levels are good, she says there's still plenty of time for them to flip. One of them has definitely been trying to, and maybe is even head down now, but it's really hard to tell 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm also so relieved to have all the Christmas stuff put away, but the holiday clutter has been replaced with baby clutter as I start to get all the diapers and clothes and stuff out of storage, so the house is still a mess of boxes and bins. Sigh.
Sorry that things are so hard with your toddler - mine isn't still nursing, but it is really hard just having her always trying to climb/hang on/be as physically close as possible. I just don't know how she's going to handle the big changes to come.

@SpartanCat I just went on Etsy and shopped around til I found some cute sleepers for bringing home outfits, but honestly I could have just gone to a store and done the same. I definitely wanted something super soft with pretty colors. We were like you with our first - I didn't have any NB clothes, and so the outfit he came home in was giant on him (and all of his clothes for the first few weeks 😅).

How are you feeling?: I have the friggen flu, 3 weeks after having covid. Today is my first day at work all week, but I can already tell you I'm not staying all day. I had my 32wk apt on Monday, baby is doing well! This apt went way better than the last, and the ob and I got along much better. She did mention that she thought I should go on insulin, but would defer to mfm next week. My numbers have only been slightly elevated, and i do feel like I finally have them under control this week. So I'm hoping mfm at least gives me more time to prove I've got them under control.

Rants/Raves: My baby shower is this Sunday! I'm very excited for it, but my in laws are coming into town today/tomorrow and expecting to come visit us. Hubs also has the flu and I'm just dreading the impending conversation about them wanting to come over. The house is a mess and I do not want to entertain. They live in Alabama, and I feel awful about it, but I just can't fathom doing anything but sleeping and staring blankly at the tv right now.

GTKY: have you had any strange/funny pregnancy dreams? all the time! but rarely do I remember them.

@farm_mama I have a bunch of freezer recipes to add! This is usually my gift when my friends are expecting- I'll come over and meal prep like a mad woman. When I have more energy, I'll type them up for ya'll! <3 A couple easy ones to mention- mini meatloafs, stuffed chicken thighs 2 ways, broccoli chicken casserole, alfredo pasta bake, spinach pies, burritos, cajun hash- but I will add the full recipes soon.
