What do you all do for work?

What do y’all do for work? Do you plan to continue after baby or become a SAHM or choose a different career?

I am a nail artist. I am not sure if I’ll continue or not afterwards. I may switch to doing a select few clients nails out of my home instead.

I use to do nails. I was a nail tech for 6 years and left the salon about halfway through my first pregnancy. The hours just aren’t very flexible when you run your own shop and I was tired of working and stressing about overhead and decided family time was more important. I now teach, I finished my degree right after my first born turned one.
I’ll take the full 12 week leave and be back the beginning of Nov I believe. It is unpaid and I only have about 15 days of sick/pto leave because my son got RSV and then Covid last year, so we are saving as much as we can now to make up for the income difference when baby is here!

  • I am a clinical psychologist and I plan to return to work after maternity leave. In the past I have taken 12 weeks, but I plan to ask for a bit more this time (they might say no but at least I can ask!). I never feel fully emotionally ready to go back at 12 weeks and with pumping/nursing the return back is stressful. My employer pays for short term disability insurance so some of it is paid, plus I can use paid time off, but it will definitely be a pay cut for awhile during my leave, so I also need to save up.
  • I am a project manager and also plan to go back to work after maternity leave. Including a few weeks of vacation, I plan to take off 20-24 weeks. Luckily I also work remotely, so I won’t have to be away all day from the baby.
  • I am a registered nurse. I plan to return after baby seeing as I took a 2y contract for my specific position that goes till December 2024, right after I get back from maternity leave. I might switch to a non bedside position after my contract ends though!

I am a pediatric dental hygienist. I work part time so it’s nice I can be home with my youngest as well. I will most likely return after maternity leave with the same working hours.

  • I’m a Registered Nurse, I recently left bedside care for sales. Specifically in Hospice. My schedule is super flexible. I plan to return back to work.
  • I'm a children's librarian for a public library, and I will return to my full time work schedule after maternity leave. I'm not sure how much time off we get, I'll be looking into that in the coming weeks!
  • I am a clinical research trial manager and yes plan to return back after. Luckily my husband and I both work remotely so that will make things easier.
  • I am a registered nurse as well. I plan to go back to work after maternity leave

knottied0cc895dee9d846f yay! I teach K too! I’m a little scared to experience Kindergarten tired and pregnant tired 😅
  • I'm an environmental planner for a water resources engineering company! I love my job. I also work remotely, so plan on working after maternity leave, but subject to change (this is my first baby).
  • I’m a social worker at a psych hospital! I’ll be going back after maternity leave but might look for other options where I might be able to work less and/or from home in the future.
  • I'm a social media/branding consultant for a Real Estate Group. I work from home and watch my little guy and try to work here and there.
  • I’m work as a Commercial Banker. I fully expect to return to work. My work schedule is hybrid so I’m in and out of the office.

I am a lab technician at a medical device company but I recently left my job as a microbiologist due to relocating to a different state. I loved being a microbiologist so I'm still trying to find a job similar to it!
  • I'm in tech and wfh. We live in a high COL area so we need my job especially now with the baby. But my job is so flexible I assume it'll all be okay in the end!
  • I’m a surgical tech, I work in the operating room at a level one trauma center. I’ll definitely have to return to work after my maternity leave.
  • I’ve been working as a phlebotomist at a hospital for the last 6 years. My other half works at the same hospital, in surgical pathology. I will be returning to work after maternity leave.

I work as an Operations Manager at a Health Care company, I do plan to go back to work after our first child but thankfully we are living in Ireland and legally we get 6 months of maternity leave and we can extend for a further unpaid 6 months if we want while holding our job. This is part of the reason we wanted to have kids here before considering moving back! I also work hybrid so I suppose won’t be as bad as going to the office 5 days per week
  • I am a counseling psychologist❤️ I am a psychologist within an inpatient hospital! I absolutely love my job! This is my first pregnancy all the new transitions are going to be a lot to take in but I am so unbelievably excited for this next chapter in my life!
  • I’m a flight attendant ✈️
  • I am a marketing consultant onboarding specialist, and while I would love to stay home, I will eventually return to work. Thankfully it is a 100% remote position! Canadian mat leave is pretty generous so I will likely take the full amount.
  • I’m a Middle School Choir Teacher and planning to go back sometime between October-November with FMLA. Late start to the next school year!
  • I’m a director of marketing analytics. My job gives me 20 weeks off so with our Christmas break I’m hoping to stretch my leave til the new year.
  • I'm also a clinical psychologist!
  • I am a social worker. I plan to take off at least 16 weeks but then will go back to work. Luckily my work allows for us to bring baby to work a couple days a week, which is amazing!
