Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 25

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

GTKY: What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 25

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI plus herbs

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Just waiting for our orientation for embryo adoption

How are things going?: Fine. We still have two weeks until our orientation and it’s hard to wait, but I’m doing okay

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Probably my first sewing machine. I think I was in middle school when I got it and I’ve made a lot of stuff with it.

  • @britters314 I always wanted a sewing machine! I don’t know that I would use it often enough to justify having one, though…

    Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI, medicated with letrozole next cycle.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): my tests all came back normal, so she said unfortunately it seems to just be my age. We are getting my husband tested next, and I have my letrozole for next cycle.

How are things going?: ok! I’m on break from school, and DH is off for the week also. It has been nice to actually be together for once!

    Any questions?: nope

GTKY: What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Mine has a bit of a story and falling in love with DH. I moved out to AZ to teach for a few years, and I met him a few weeks after I moved back home to OH. When we were moving me back, my moving truck got broken into on one of our overnight stops. One of my boxes they took had my football jerseys in it, including my very expensive Michigan jersey. DH got me a new one our first Christmas together, and I sat and cried! I was so excited that he listened to me and was willing to spend that money for something that he wasn’t even around for.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unknown

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): back on letrozole and a HSG on 1/4

How are things going?: mentally, I went to a dark place on cd1. I had been getting bfns but that combined with hubs working basically the entire month of December without a day off and I was lonely.

Any questions?: does the HSG hurt? I have directions to take tylenol before the procedure and I'm a bit nervous about that. Also it's happening the day of or the day before I trigger.

GTKY: What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? Anything my mom gave me from 10-18 years old. She knew me and my style so well that all of the gifts she gave me in that pre-teen/teenager time was amazing.
Or when my hubs gifts me soft comfy clothes because I don't buy them myself.
  • @ATolentino89 It’s been a while since I did my HSG, so I don’t remember exactly but I think it felt like bad cramps afterward. Painful, but not the worst thing ever.
  • @britters314 One of my biggest regrets is never learning from my mom how to sew. Seems like it would be far more useful than the hobbies I ultimately picked up 😂

@ejoseph16 What an amazing gift!! The thoughtfulness and understanding shown, especially by somebody who hadn’t known you all that long at that point 💛

@ATolentino89 I was instructed to take 600mg ibuprofen before my HSG, and I’m glad I did. They said I would feel cramping at various points in the procedure—accurate—and that was definitely uncomfortable, even painful. BUT the discomfort was fairly brief; think seconds, not minutes. I didn’t really have lingering pain after the procedure. I’d heard horror stories before; walked away thinking “that wasn’t my favorite thing to experience, but I could do it again if I needed to.” FX it and the trigger go smoothly for you!
  • @ATolentino89. I've had 2 HSGs and neither hurt while they were happening. Just a weird uncomfortable feeling like my uterus was being filled with water. Some cramping afterward, but nothing to write home about. Like a medium-bad period cramp. You can take both tylenol and ibuprofen (taking them together is fine)-- I think the ibuprofen will help more with the cramping than the tylenol. (I feel like fertility clinics are always telling you to take tylenol because everyone might be pregnant, but for an HSG you are definitely not, so I would say go nuts).
