Canadian in Florida with pregnancy questions

Hi

I'm a Canadian in Florida for the next month and currently 7 weeks pregnant. Ill need to get an ultrasound down here... How does that work in the US,? Any help would be greatly appreciated,!!!

Re: Canadian in Florida with pregnancy questions

  • Unless the ultrasound is emergent, wait until you get back to Canada.  The only ultrasound that truly matters is the 20week anatomy scan.

The health care system here is privatized, and very complicated.

  • hi! congratulations!

so in america we have planned parenthood and women’s clinics all across nationwide. if you go to one of these clinics, often times they offer free ultrasound and free confirmation for pregnancy. i did this in my first pregnancy, and they did not charge my insurance nor me personally.

you can just try googling “planned parenthood near me” or “women’s clinic near me” and just double check their website if they offer free ultrasounds.

keep in mind the ultrasounds are not in depth and at 7 weeks, you won’t need an in depth one. they will try to find baby’s heartbeat and make sure it looks good. that’s all that matters at least until you get back to canada and see your obgyn! :)

    hope that helps!!
  • Like others said wait until you’re back to Canada unless you’re having concerning symptoms like lots of bleeding or pain or it’s recommended by a healthcare professional.
