Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 18

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: Who knows you the best?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 18

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): no diagnosis yet… just repeated MC and testing

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): still benched.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): testing on CD 3… if that ever comes!

How are things going?: y’all… this cycle is messing with me. I’ve never had a cycle last this long, especially post MC. I’m on cd38 right now. Can AF just come so we can get this show on the road?

    Any questions?:

GTKY: Who knows you the best? My mom. Not just because she’s my mom, but she’s my best friend. I moved to AZ from Ohio to teach in 2012, and that drive together to move me out there was the best time! We talked about everything! Ever since then, we talk on the phone at least once a day if not more.

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI and herbs

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Waiting for our orientation on embryo adoption in a few weeks

How are things going?: Good. At least I have the holidays to distract me from our wait right now

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: Who knows you the best? Probably my husband. Or maybe my cat lol
  • @britters314 what herbs are you taking and did your doctor recommend them?

@ejoseph16 long cycles are THE WORST

Diagnosis (if you've been): hypothyroidism, unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): baseline and additional bloodwork, Femara, natural ovulation...

How are things going?:bfn at 12dpo. After a vivid dream of positives

Any questions?: I told the clinic about my negative so next step is to schedule an HSG and they offered to do iui this coming cycle. I think I'm going to hold off until we get results for the HSG and my TSH goes back down.... any thoughts.

GTKY: Who knows you the best? Probably my mom. I honestly don't know. Usually when I think my husband doesn't know me he blows me away with some insight about myself.
  • @ejoseph16 Do you do cycle tracking at all? Any sense if AF is close? FX for a fresh cycle soon!

@ATolentino89 My HSG was scheduled for post-AF but pre-O, so depending on their IUI timeline it seems plausible that with a clear scan you could proceed in the same cycle. I’ve never IUI’d, maybe somebody else can speak to that process. As for TSH, I know people around here (maybe @inthewoods23? or @virginiaham?) have seen significant changes in just 3-4 weeks with medication. Obvi don’t rush into anything you’re not ready for! Just some anecdata to say once in a while IF treatment can actually move quickly, and there might be a way to address your concerns and also proceed with the treatment plan at the same time.

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): PGT-M test development

How are things going?: A-ok, just trucking along! We are actively NOT ttc at the moment but I’m still tracking temps etc. just to keep an eye on my cycle for timing, and this cycle has had more EWCM and a higher post-O BBT than I’ve ever seen. Not sure if it’s the Synthroid finally kicking in or the supplements we started a month ago or the reduced stress or all of the above, but it’s got me feeling cautiously optimistic that our spring retrieval will go well.

In less exciting news, we travel to see in-laws for the holidays and this will be our first time seeing them since we had to break the news about our shared carrier status. Bracing myself now for all the insensitive comments and questions. (After explaining the PGT-M/IVF process to MIL she quipped, “the old-fashioned way sounds a whole lot simpler!”) 😑

    Any questions?:

GTKY: Who knows you the best? Probably my oldest friend. We’ve known each other since early high school and just been through enough stuff together that it feels like she gets me without my having to explain anything, and we can always pick up exactly where we left off no matter how long it’s been.

@britters314 My cat senses that I’m feeling down long before my husband catches on!

@ATolentino89 The herbs are from my acupuncturist. They are called Phase 3 and Arouse Vigor. They are for keeping my temps high during the TWW since they tend to start coming back down after only a week.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, APS, low Amh

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI - next month we move to IVF!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): it was SUPPOSED to be a medicated cycle but my insurance was ridiculous about it. So just TI. We had pretty good timing I think, so FX.

How are things going?: I’m having an autoimmune flare so I feel like I’m dying. I’m not, it’ll be fine and I started the medication to calm it today omg.
I had a good friend from high school come visit a few weeks ago and it was a much needed overnight! He and I sat in the basement and drank beer and I was like feeling like we should be worried about getting caught drinking 😂😂😂 nope, I own the house and bought the beer.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: Who knows you the best?  My therapist probably 😂

@atol@ATolentino89 my husband is the same way.
@aisleo@aisleofviewtwo we have four cats but right now I don’t really have a “my” cat. The one who’s claimed me is my MILs cat we inherited when she passed so she’s HER cat (and always will be) but she’s kinda a brat. She’s big mad she went from being a little old ladies spoiled only cat to our chaos.
@britte@britters314 We are still consider going that route! Let me know how it goes!
@ejospeh have you check in with your team? If the cycle is much longer I think they can prompt it. I had one last three months - 96 days. We weren’t ttc, so I was like fewer periods? Yeah I’m good with that. But super frustrating when you are just trying to get to a take home baby.

  • @charmedlifex3 change is so so hard for cats! What I called “my” cat is actually our cat, but hubs and I did long distance for a year due to his getting a new job in different city and she’s never quite forgiven him for that betrayal.

Here’s hoping your girl settles into the chaos eventually!
  • **Hi all! New-ish here. See siggy for details.

@ejoseph16. Hi! I can't remember if we actually interacted or I just remember you from being a dirty lurker. I'm sorry about the post-MC madness. I haven't been paying attention, so sorry if you said this already. Were your betas tracked to zero? I had one MC where they took *forever* to go back down and I didn't have a period for 3 months. Hoping that's not the case for you and your body is just taking a second to re-adjust and will cooperate soon.

@britters314. Interesting on the herbs-- I have done acupuncture on and off over the whole fertility timeline, but I've never taken the herbs because my acupuncturist doesn't like prescribing to people who might get pregnant, I think just out of an abundance of caution. But I have always been really curious about them. Do you feel different on them?

@ATolentino89 Ugh I'm sorry that scenario (dream then BFN) seems terrible. Seems wise to get your TSH under control because of MC risks, but it's always annoying to have more delays.

@aisleofviewtwo Omg on the "old fashioned way" comment. Like I would actually punch them. "Sorry I don't want my kid to have a horrible debilitating disease" FFS.

@charmedlifex3 Ditto on can't remember if my memory of you is from actual (virtual) human interaction or lurking. But hello! (Maybe I remember all of my fellow RPL-ers because it's such a sh*tty club!) Good luck on moving to IVF-- though hopefully you won't need it! Sorry your insurance is being the worst. I swear dealing with IVF clinics and insurance is like a full-time job.

Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, DOR

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): IVF FET hopefully in January. I have frozen embryos from retrievals in 2021, and also this fall.

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Benched, waiting for FET. We had a failed FET last month, and would have gone straight into another one but the lab is closed for 2 weeks for xmas/new years so I get a cycle off. Maybe for the best, because I truly hate PIO.

How are things going?:  OK. I really, really thought the last transfer was just going to work. You'd think after a *long* time dealing with all manner of fertility issues I would not be so glib, but my mental model of my problem was "good uterus, bad eggs". And so I thought of getting the euploid embryos as the problem (and it was! 8 rounds for 5 euploids), but that the uterus part would be smooth sailing.

I also realized that I felt really lonely this time because before when I was going through IVF I had friends on this board! (Hi @inthewoods23 !)

*tw mention preg and mc and all the rest*

I have been pregnant four times (not counting two chemicals) and every time I have been very sick (yes even the MCs), and so I spent a lot of time leading up to the transfer preparing for early pregnancy and getting all of my ducks in a row to make my life easier during the first few months. I also timed out the transfer so that I could get through first tri mostly while the school I teach at was on winter break, etc. I know it's *such* hubris-- really I know. You probably want to throw things at me. But I had also only ever done one transfer and it worked perfectly. This embryo was similarly graded, tested, etc and so I just thought it would work. It feels ridiculous even typing it. If I have learned anything being on this board (and experiencing RPL/IF) is that there are a million things that can and will go wrong. To be honest I just hate uncertainty, so that was probably a part of it too.

Anyway I'm prepping for the next transfer with a lot more humility, and trying to have more of an acceptance that I just don't know what will happen.

Any questions?: Not at the moment, but for those who don't know me I am a data nerd, and an IVF veteran, and have RPL, so I'm happy to give any insight that may be helpful.

GTKY: Who knows you the best? Probably my husband, and then my best friend. Is that the most boring answer possible?

  • @bumblebee0210 Honestly the herbs seem like they have made more of a difference than my acupuncture sessions. They definitely seem to keep my temps up and made my LP longer. Also the first cycle I used the herbs I suspect I had a CP. (I wasn’t testing early so I don’t know for sure but I described my experience to someone who used to work for an OBGYN and she said it sounded like a CP.) If it was a CP, that is more progress than I ever had with acupuncture alone. And I don’t really get any side effects from the herbs either.
  • Hi friends! I am on CD 3, so I had my labs done today and talked to my OBGYN. She tested everything, including my hcg, thyroid, and glucose. Everything looked good, normal. So she thinks it’s just my age (you know, I’m 36, so I’m ancient in TTC years). She wants DH’s goods checked out. lol. So he gets to go talk to his doctor, also. My hcg was down to zero, so that part was over a while ago. I’m going on Letrozole next cycle to see what that brings. And I got the official warning that fertility drugs puts me at risk of twins 😂 sorry I’ve been MIA this week… work just about killed me this week.
