Trying to Get Pregnant

Query about spotting when TTC

Hi,

I am new to the forum. I have gone through some of the earlier discussions here and was really impressed by the "not encouraging symptom tracking rule". I am in confusion about some of the symptoms I have right now and want to see a real perspective on those rather than false hope. However, I am not sure if this question fits the group rules or not. If it doesn't admin may please feel free to close/remove it.

So, I am 4days late, but getting BFNs all through. Not even a faint positive. I spotted very very little streak of blood this morning, but nothing else apart from that. I keep getting cramps like period on and off for the past few days, but af is not arriving. Anyone who's been in the same boat earlier and how it ended ?

If this is not the right group for this, can I get info on which group is suitable? I see only see this one TTC group, rest all seem to be pregnancy discussion groups. Thanks in advance.

How do you know you are 4 days late? Are you tracking BBT? Most likely you ovulated later than usual. Also, this is the right board for discussions about what’s going on during your TWW, but we encourage people to post in our weekly WTO and TWW threads so we don’t have a bunch of one-off posts.

  • Thanks @britters314 for responding. I havent started bbting yet, just following cervical mucus and body changes. I am usually regular and get my period on the 32nd day give or take 1day. Based on that, i am supposed to get my af 4days back.

This is my first month ttc, so seems like a odd coincidence(and kind of hopeful) that this is the first time I am late all of the sudden. I have been testing on easy@homes and not FRERs, so hanging on to a bit of hope that this might be a late implantation and slow hcg rise.

Looking for information on if anything similar happened to anyone and how it ended up, just so I can prepare myself for it.
  • Hi @ttgpbaby2! Sorry you’re stuck in this limbo!

Since you aren’t tracking bbt, it’s also possible that you had an anovulatory cycle. I had one earlier this year that lasted 40 days. I had what I thought was an extremely light period around my usual time (27 days), but then bled again/more 2 weeks later.

My understanding is that if the symptoms you’re feeling were pregnancy-related, they would be caused by more than enough HCG enough to turn a pregnancy test.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. But if it turns out it’s not your cycle, we’d love to get to know you in the Newbie and weekly WTO/TWW threads!
  • ttgpbaby2, I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. I can understand how frustrating and confusing it can be. Although I can't speak from personal experience, I know that many women have gone through similar situations. You may be experiencing hormonal changes or fluctuations affecting your menstrual cycle. However, it's always a good idea to consult with a doctor to rule out any potential underlying conditions. I hope everything turns out okay for you.
  • Thanks for your inputs @aisleofviewtwo @nken20

I might be having a longer or anovulatory cycle like you suggested. Just that the coincidence of it happening in the first month of my ttc seems wierd. I was infact not expecting any progress in just one month, but this whole "delayed af" play raised my hopes up a bit.

I am also a bit concerned that it might be ectopic given the delayed af and cramps. I just wish atleast af shows up so that I can move on to next cycle! I will go to the doctors if af doesnt show up by the end of this week.
  • @ttgpbaby2 A weird thing happens when you start TTC where you pay attention to every twinge and feeling, and it's amazing how easy it is to convince yourself you're pregnant. Your period is usually regular, but in a normal month, it would just not be so salient that it was a few days late, and thus not very memorable. But since you *might* be pregnant, it all seems to be pointing in one direction. The truth is, by the time your period is due, home pregnancy tests (any brand really) are very, very accurate. If they say you're not pregnant, you are almost certainly not pregnant. I'm sorry, man. This process can really be a roller coaster. (FWIW an ectopic would also turn a test, so it's probably not that either, at least!)
