Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 11

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Dec 11

  • I've been MIA for a while. It's been busy and we weren't actively doing any TTC stuff, so I took a break from posting, but I'm back!

    Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Taking some tentative steps toward the embryo adoption process. I had a phone call with someone from the organization we plan to use and we have an orientation meeting scheduled with them just after the holidays where we will learn more of the details of how it all works so we can decide if it is right for us.

How are things going?: Pretty good. I'm glad we are starting to inch forward in the process because I really don't want to wait too much longer.

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? People listening to music in public places without headphones.

  • @britters314 welcome back! hope your orientation meeting goes well.

Diagnosis (if you've been): immune and blood clotting issues

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): in a couple weeks I will have repeat labs and another cycle of TTC before we reevaluate things

How are things going?: things are fine. BFNs for the last couple days so just waiting for my period to show up. being on metformin has really helped the LP. I used to be 9 or 10 days and so far the 2 cycles I've had on metformin my LP has been 12 days!

Any questions?: I have a bunch of old vials of IVF meds. how am I supposed to dispose of it? Can you take the lids off them and dump the liquid into an undesirable substance? Or do I have to draw up as much as I can into a needle to get it out? I'm trying to get rid of all this junk I've held on to for years and no longer need. I also have some 5 sharps containers to give back too oy. Also curious what you all use for sharps containers? I've heard some people use an empty laundry detergent bottle. CVS Caremark does not seem to automatically provide a sharps container with my orders of lovenox injections. I used to get them for free with all my IVF meds. Oh yeah I was going to check with my insurance about ordering a sharps container through a medical supply company if I can get them free that way.

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? DH not putting sh*t in the trash. He won't walk the few steps to pull open the damn drawer to dump stuff and he leaves his soda cans all over the place. Like seriously dude? Ugh. Also annoying is when we finally clean and declutter spaces for when we have people over and "wow it's nice having so much space be clean and free of stuff" but then eventually turning it into a mess because apparently none of DH's stuff has it's own proper place so the dining table etc becomes the dumping ground *eye roll*

  • @inthewoods23 my hubs dumps stuff everywhere too. In our old house I had a huge peninsula in the kitchen that became a dumping ground and was never clear.
@britters314 I hope your meeting goes well!

Diagnosis (if you've been): hypothyroidism is about it so far

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Femara, synthroid

How are things going?: Good. Just curious to see how this cycle goes

    Any questions?: nope

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? lately it's when I hear water just running into the sink/shower floor...... for the love of earth turn it off!!!!!
  • @britters314 hopefully your orientation goes well! I took a much needed break, as well.

@inthewoods23 omg leaving stuff everywhere! I haaaaaate clutter, and DH is awful about just leaving things all over the place.

@ATolentino89 we have a bobble head a student gave me for Christmas last year, and it sounds like dripping water. It makes me crazy!

Diagnosis (if you've been): blood work is coming soon… then hopefully some answers.

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched still. Why does cycle 1 after MC take forever?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): cycle day 3 blood test. Then medicated cycle if my doctor thinks that’s our next step.

How are things going?: ok. Just trying to get through the next week and a half of school. It’s not easy… definitely feeling like I’m wrangling prisoners at this point. My students and I had a healthy debate over why school is needed today. That was fun. Oh, and our school was part of the bomb threats across the country on Monday. Also fun. 🙃

Any questions?: not at the moment. I’m sure once this next cycle gets going I’ll have a million!

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? Talking over/interrupting someone. I feel like this got worse after I started teaching. My father in law doesn’t know how to not talk, so I can be in the middle of a conversation with someone at the dinner table and he will interrupt to ask them something 100% unrelated. I hate that. So disrespectful.
  • @britters314 Good to see you again, and great to hear you’ve got a plan to move forward! Does this mean your husband has been able to work through some of the anxiety?

@inthewoods23 I find it so strange that they would give you meds without a way to dispose of them! If I had to DIY it I’d probably go for a small glass jar (from like capers or another condiment) and punch a hole in the top with a nail or chisel or something. Also I’ve always thought pet peeves were minor annoyances—and yours sounds like a legit grievance to me!! I did read a study recently that basically said men and women are equally aware of clutter when it happens but that women seem to experience far more negative psychological effects from it…

@ATolentino89 Is your clinic do any additional monitoring this cycle, or just leaving it to you to test or report AF?

@ejoseph16 Ugh that sounds like such a stressful end to the semester! I’ve always wondered if it’s really worth coming back from Thanksgiving or if we should just lump all of December into a real, proper winter break. (Spoken from a teaching perspective; I realize for working parents it’s not so simple.)
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): PGT-M test development

How are things going?: Clock is officially started on test development! 8 weeks and counting until it’s ready! Now to sort out how their timeline, my cycle, and the clinic’s IVF schedule will align.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: What is your biggest pet peeve? It used to be tags sticking out of people’s clothing, but now that so many things are tagless I’ve been spared 😂 So at present probably loud chewing and other eating noises. It just gives me the icks.

  • @inthewoods23 An old laundry detergent container or any other container with a lid should work as a sharps container. Just make sure when you get rid of it, that you tape it closed and label it. As for the old meds, I'd contact your pharmacy to see if it's safe to just dump it out. It's also possible they'd be able to take them back and dispose of them for you.

@aisleofviewtwo He's still working on the anxiety, but we are taking things one step at a time. I asked if he was okay with me doing a phone call to ask some questions and he said that was fine. Then I made sure he was okay doing the orientation (I did the phone call by myself but for the orientation he needs to also be there) and he said he's okay taking that step. So we're just taking it one step at a time and still figuring out if it is right for us.
  • @britters314 I have to say that I really love you taking it at your hubs pace. I say this because I have been ttc naturally for 4 years and I am embarrassed to say that most of the time I didn't account for my hubs emotional state. We had a lot of issues that were working on but we did have a long conversation about how it actually affected him.

@aisleofviewtwo just test and notify. I am curious though because I read on another forum that they're supposed to monitor the whole cycle with Femara.

@ejoseph16 we gifted his teacher a box of chocolate after I saw a Mr. Williams reel for no more mugs 😆
  • @ATolentino89 Mr. Williams is my hero! I went to the comedy tour recently hoping he would be there. He wasn’t, but so many of the other teacher influencers were! So funny!
  • I am just gonna shove this in here..... I'm supposed to test on Tuesday and I'm not looking forward to it. It's my 46th cycle of ttc. I stopped testing at all 2 years ago. I'm just so anxious about it. I don't want to cry about a negative test.
