Worried about Covid—please help

I tried everything to prevent myself from getting Covid, but it found me anyway. I have mild symptoms (dry cough and stuffy nose) and feel mostly okay-my sinus infection last month felt way worse than this. However, I’m very worried about the effect it will have on the baby, as I’ve heard some heartbreaking outcomes. Looking for any reassurance.

Spoke with my doctors office to the doctor on call and they didn’t seem concerned, but my anxiety is in overdrive right now. Any words of encouragement you can offer would be most helpful!

Re: Worried about Covid—please help

  • I had COVID at 10 weeks, I’m 21 weeks now and baby is developing as it should.

  • I had COVID at 5 weeks pregnant with my son, and all was completely fine! I had a healthy pregnancy, healthy deliver and healthy baby! I did have velementous cord insertion (which is way scarier to google, than it actually is….) which may have been an effect of the covid or maybe not. But it didn’t affect my little guy at all.

Many clinics will offer extra ultrasounds if you have Covid during pregnancy so mention it to your dr.
  • You should avoid anxiety as much as possible. Sometimes, we become of what we think. Who knows if that's only a cold symptom? Usually, if you have a clogged nose, a dry cough appears simultaneously, right? Just drink a lot of water. That's what I did before.
  • I had covid at 22 weeks and my doctors were never very concerned. Pretty mild never got a fever. Baby was born in June no complications from covid but the anxiety was serious! I think I had an extra ultrasound for growth but uneventful due to covid
  • Hi @jrn62289, I also had COVID while about 23 weeks with my first. I was concerned, but my baby boy continued developing healthy, was born right on time, and is a happy & healthy toddler now. Hope this helps a little - I know you just want your little one to be healthy!
  • my sister in law had covid at the height of the pandemic and she has a beautiful healthy boy! I just had pneumonia. I was so worried about the effects of my coughing and medication. But baby looked great in our anatomy scan. Our immune systems are lower right now so we are all bound to her a little sick! Baby will be fine. If your anxiety continues consider talking to someone.
