Anyone Experience a Frozen Embryo Transfer? Want to hear experiences and protocols

Hello everyone,

I have currently undergone 4 FET cycles, and two were cancelled because of thin uterine lining and the last one was cancelled bc uterine lining was on the thinner side but I also started ovulation, so the doctor said it would throw off the hormone levels. It is a high pressure situation because we only have one frozen embryo that is ready for implantation, and my doctor is great, but I want to make sure he is providing the best protocol.

If there is anyone who has gone through this, can you let me know if your doctor put you on medication to prevent ovulation? I haven't been on any during any of these cycles.

Does your doctor plan your transfer in line with your usual ovulation?

How often does your doctor check your lining while going through an FET? I will go 7-8 days before my lining is checked again, and by then it seems like a lot of time is lost in determining if a method is or is not working.

Are there any natural ways that you have found work to thicken your uterine lining? I have been supplementing with vitamin e, fish oil, drinking bone broth, baby aspirin, and trying to make sure I get adequate exercise.

What types of estradiol have you used to increase lining thickness? I have used pills and a patch, and these have brought me to a lining of high 6s and low 7s, but I would like to be more solidly at 7mm or 8mm.

I am curious if anyone else is going through this, and would like to hear your journey and see if I can get more clarity with mine.

I wish you all the very best and many blessings,

  • I'm sorry to hear about your struggles with thin uterine lining during your FET cycles. It's not uncommon for doctors to prescribe medication to prevent ovulation during FET cycles to maintain control over hormone levels. The timing of the transfer can vary depending on the individual's ovulation cycle, but doctors often try to coordinate it with the patient's natural ovulation. The frequency of lining checks can also vary, but it's important to monitor it regularly to assess progress. Some natural methods to potentially improve lining thickness include a healthy diet, proper hydration, acupuncture, and specific herbal supplements. Different types of estradiol, such as pills, patches, or injections, can be used to increase lining thickness. It's best to discuss your concerns and options with your doctor to find the most suitable protocol for your situation.

  • hi! Sorry to hear about your struggles.

I had lining issues this cycle too. They just did one check for me initially and I was at a 7.53mm (that was Tuesday). Needed to be at an 8mm MINIMUM, as I’m sure you’re aware. They decided to give me 3 more days for my lining to thicken before canceling my transfer altogether. I made sure to exercise and also drink 12oz of beet root juice each day - it’s DISGUSTING - BUT by Friday my lining was at 9.57mm!!

I am on .25ml of estradiol valerate, twice a week. It’s an IM injection.

hope that helps! Best of luck to you and that sweet, precious embaby!

  • I empathize with your journey. In FET cycles, my doctor prescribed medication to prevent ovulation, aligning the transfer with a controlled cycle. Lining checks were frequent, every 2-3 days, ensuring timely adjustments. Natural methods like supplements and exercise were integrated, but estradiol pills were more effective than patches in achieving the desired lining thickness. Stay resilient, and I wish you success in your fertility journey.
  • For my fresh transfer I wore 1 estrogen patch that I changed every 7 days. For my FET it was 4 patches at one time that I changed every 3rd day.
  • we did a natural cycle so I just took baby aspirin and Prometrium leading up, and afterwards. I’ve never had lining challenges and I think mine was 11 or 12 on transfer day! We got lucky and baby implanted, but are currently in beta hell awaiting follow up results after an initially low number (56.5 at 11 days past 5 day frozen transfer).
