How do I ease cold symptoms?

I have a runny nose, aches, and lots of sneezing. There's no fever yet, but I'm miserable... HELP!!!

Re: How do I ease cold symptoms?

  • I have a toddler who has been getting sick constantly, which means I’ve been sick 3 times this pregnancy. I’ve been running the humidifier and using breathe right nasal strips to help me breathe at night. I ended up taking a Benadryl one of the nights because I was miserable.

I’ve also been making flu bombs for my husband and I. Mix in a small cup 1-2 cloves of minced garlic (let sit for 10 min to release the anti-viral properties), 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of freshly grated ginger, juice of a whole lemon, tsp or more of honey, 1/8 tsp or more of cayenne, a dash of cinnamon, a dash of turmeric, 3-4 cracks of black pepper (to help with absorption of the turmeric), and some water. Stir it up really well to make sure the honey dissolves and just chug it. It mostly taste like spicy lemonade, but I swear it’s been getting me over my colds in 3-4 days rather than the typical 7. If you can’t do the little clumps, I’m sure you could break them down further in a nutribullet or something. I think it’s best to take 2-3 of the flu bombs per day until you feel better.

  • I’ve been doing airborne, lots of fluids, saline nasal spray and Tylenol.  My OB gave me a list of safe cold/flu medicines and there are few on there if needed!
