Fever / Sick at 5 Weeks Pregnant

Hi there wanna-be, soon-to-be, and amazing mamas. ❤️ I just found out last week I am pregnant, and am so beyond thrilled. At five weeks and one day, I became sick (flu-like), and I’m still sick at five weeks and six days. I had an on and off fever the first three days, hovering around 99.0-100.7 degrees. The highest it got was 101.3, but not for very long. I saw my PCP right away (second morning of being sick) and they didn’t express a concern unless my temperature were to rise above 102 and above. I’m pretty sure I have the flu (can’t confirm because my test at the doctor was accidentally thrown out before the made it to the lab 🙄). The more I read - the more I of course worry about the baby; between the nagging cough I have and fighting off fevers, I’m a total wreck). Luckily, I’ve been taking prenatals since even before I was pregnant, so that makes me feel a little better. Anyone out there experience this while pregnant and have good news? Thank you. 🫶🏼

  • When pregnant our immune systems are not as strong so we're more prone to these things. I had a few colds my first pregnancy and did my best to stay comfortable with Tylenol for aches and fever, but it's hard when a lot of the stuff we usually take isn't safe or recommended during pregnancy. Chicken soup and orange juice (if you don't have heartburn) with plenty of rest

  • i was pregnant last year with my baby boy who’s now 6 months, and when i was pregnant with him i got sick with the flu at 7w! and just like you i worried about baby, my fevers were like yours, highest i got was 101 & i panicked and rushed to the er since it was late at night and i didn’t know if it was something to be concerned about. i was checked & i had an ultrasound done, while i was feeling completely miserable & tired, my growing baby was thriving! i was reassured by my doctor that as long as i keep the fevers at bay, everything would be fine & it was!! i stayed comfortable with tylenol & warm soups.

this time around, we had the cold & rsv in our home for about a 2 weeks before i found out i was pregnant, so i’m hoping my body developed some antibodies & i won’t get the flu this year 😂

hang in there, you’ll pull through in no time 😊
