    Team blue/pink/green: blue

    Upcoming Appointments: Dec 1

How are you feeling?: BIG.. went to see trolls Saturday and i put on this cute sweater.. looked like I swallowed a beach ball 🥴

Rants/Raves: Excited for Christmas lights and the festivities. Rant.. my daughter broke my hearing aid tonight 😭

Questions: Can you tell when baby is head down?

GTKY: worst date I’ve ever been on—>  Had a guy show up 30min late, no apologies and lied to me about his looks. We hadn’t sent photos so I had no clue what he looked like. Normally I wouldn’t be so shallow about it but he was so rude and I couldn’t get over the fact that he was the same height as me.. I’m 5’0.

Baby is the size of a (an): cauliflower

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: nothing for a bit

How are you feeling?: I am struggling with food and energy. I don't feel sick, but the food aversion are so strong I am having a hard time getting enough to eat. I try to eat mostly whole foods and I am struggling big time. My energy levels are still really low. Maybe because I can't get enough to eat? Maybe still from covid? Maybe because my life is very full?

Questions: What are you all eating? I need ideas!

Worst Date: I haven't been on a date in like 18 years! Back when H and I were dating he had been out of town and came to stay with me. We went out to eat and immediately both got food poisoning. It was quite the abrupt introduction to the real life phase of our relationship!

Baby is the size of a (an): helmet? a starfish? sometimes I wonder...

    Team blue/pink/green: girl

Upcoming Appointments: this morning! and then in two weeks.

How are you feeling?: super tired again. I've started getting regular heart palpitations, which is a bit disconcerting. Don't know if it's just normal due to blood volume increase, or because I'm still low in iron. Will ask the doctor today. Toward the end of the day I also get a fair bit of what seems like round ligament pain. Thinking I should perhaps be better about wearing the support band I have!! Also psoas pain has started on the left side. Woo.

Rants/Raves: DH comes home today! I was a bit worried he might get stuck out east if the weather worsened, but looks like he snuck out. Second rave: I picked up a baby box yesterday. Our local health unit here has a safe sleep programme, where they provide these cute little boxes with a mattress and sheet, suitable for the first few months. It's one option to save space, as it just goes on the floor next to our bed. The cat also loves it (not sure if that makes it less safe, actually...). When I went to pick it up, the nurse on duty told me about post-partum home visits to help with feeding and such, which I had no idea were even an option!

    Questions: none at the moment

@alexxajams baby's position was actually something I was planning to ask about at my appointment today. I did read somewhere that you can sort of tell based on where you're feeling kicks. But I haven't been able to distinguish a kick from a punch, and both still seem to be all over the place. So maybe this only works as quarters become more cramped. EDIT: Dr checks the heartbeat and can tell baby's position based on where it's heard. Our LO seems to be head down! Apparently, if they're head down after 34 weeks, they're probably staying that way :)

@farm_mama I also don't think I'm eating enough...not because of food aversions, but because I just haven't been that hungry (and very uninspired by food lately)! We'll see if I'm still gaining on track today, since I don't have a scale at home. When I know I should eat, but don't feel like it, I've been snacking on roasted almonds and pepitas. It's almost like I don't notice those are food, but they're nice and densely packed with fats, nutrients, and calories :) My newest addition is 5-6 dates filled with peanut butter! (I read that amount of dates daily in the last trimester can help ease labour...but even if that's an old wives tale, it's still tasty).

  • @farm_mama I have felt the same way most of this pregnancy. I just don't feel like eating. My go to for some nutrients when I don't feel like eating is a smoothie with banana, spinach, milk, seeds, peanut butter and cocoa powder. It's a little bit filling and I feel like I'm getting some veggies.

@cioccolata16 Yay for your DH being home! and the baby boxes are cool, I wish they were available here!

Baby is the size of a (an): Cauliflower

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: December 8th for growth scan

How are you feeling?: I am ready to get to my growth scan and see if baby is on track. I am extremely tired this week naps were necessary this weekend and I wish I could take them today!

Rants/Raves: Amazon has been out of their "welcome boxes" for finishing my registry for a couple weeks now and I am sad about it. I just want to collect baby things. Rave is I got a good deal on carseats for cyber Monday.

    Questions:

What is the worst date you have been on? I don't think I have very good stories for this but when I was 18 I went on a date with someone who had a lot of red flags that I was too young to see (I'm pretty sure he was at least 10 years older than me) and when we met up he just had super creepy vibes. We went to a movie and he wanted to sit in the back to make out and because I was young and had no boundaries I had to try hard to dodge him the whole time and pretend I had no idea what he was trying to do. I definitely ghosted him after that date. The memory still gives me the ick.
  • Haha, @dinomeetsjedi I've been wanting to try out the baby box since I read this article a while ago: https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-22751415. Ours only comes with the mattress and fitted sheet, but still fun!
Congrats on the car seat deal!
  • @cioccolata16 what is psoas?

Upcoming Appointments: Next Monday for 28w apt and 3hr glucose

How are you feeling?: So freakin tired, everything is sore and my underwear are starting to not fit

Rants/Raves: Ranting about Verizon. We tried to switch our cell service on Sunday, only to find out that our phones are locked and we need codes from Verizon to unlock them. They cancelled our service right away, but told us it would take up to 48hrs to send the unlock codes. It's been 3 days and we're still locked out of our phones, so we can't call or text, only use apps on wifi. This has been ridiculous.

Questions: Favorite pregnancy bras/nursing bras? I'm hesitant to buy anything new because I know my boobs are only going to get bigger, but my current ones are starting to not fit.

  • @alexxajams the psoas is a muscle group running from the lower back, around the hip flexor, to the upper thigh. Sitting can aggravate it!

@cmill828 I’ve switched over to some sports bra and bandeau styles. Got a momcozy one on Amazon that I like. Funnily, my favourite is one from old navy that crosses in the front. Not sure how good it will be for feeding though.

Baby is the size of a (an): grapefruit

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: not for a bit. Need to schedule those…

How are you feeling?: mostly good, though today I am tired! I need a long weekend to recover from the long weekend!

Rants/Raves: agreed to temporarily help out with a little extra work for my side gig. Now they keep adding more extra. Gotta learn to say no…

@alexxajams my favorite descriptor for the psoas is your tenderloin :)

@cmill828 my absolute favorite bra is one they don’t make anymore, of course, so hoping you get some good refs I can use, too :)
but for nursing, I really the nursing camis with the built in bras. Target and amazon both have good options, depending on the fabric and fit you want. Makes for easy layering and works with cardigans!
  • @alexxajams I can usually figure out baby’s position by feeling around my belly. I do have a posterior placenta though which helps. You can google “belly mapping” for tips on how to tell.

@farm_mama im sorry you’re struggling with food. Does sipping on bone broth sound appetizing at all? Some days its easier for me to drink my calories than eat them and bone broth at least is full of protein and micronutrients.

@cioccolata16 I have had tons of heart palpitations each pregnancy. Like sometimes every other beat. I never actually followed up with cardiology but did a few ekgs at work and asked doctors there and most seem to attribute it to fluid and hormonal changes too. And there is actually statistically significant data about regualar date consumption shortening the early labor phase! I did that, evening primrose oil, and red raspberry leaf tea with my last baby and had a 3hrs total labor. Who knows the real reason, but I feel like it cant hurt to do it all again.

@dinomeetsjedi hope time until the 8th passes quickly and yay for saving money on necessary purchases!

@cmill828 gosh I have spent alllll kinds of money on nursing bras over the years. My favorite ones end up being random amazon bras haha. For sleeping and in the beginning the pull over cotton style ones are the best. When i go back to work a nursing/pumping bra is what I wear. I like Davin & Adley’s crop cami bra. Really comfy and multifunctional- also 20% off on their website through today. I bought a few Kindred Bravely last time and while they worked, i just didnt feel it was worth the money. Bodily makes a Do everything bra that is great too, but again, $$.

@halfanewt haha sounds like work will keep handing you work until you say no. I can sympathize. I hate saying no.

Upcoming Appointments: dec 11th for GTT and rhogam and dec 13th with home birth midwife

How are you feeling?: feeling good! Have surrendered to the fact we will be sick until school is over in May and the acceptance has helped my health anxiety. Starting to have some milk aches and pains and a few days of some SPD symptoms but honestly nothing like my last pregnancy so im feeling great about that.

we also got our last ultrasound done by perinatology this past week and babe finally cooperated and showed us all the cardiac views we needed. Watching the whole 1.5hr scan was so much fun. Really goad DH and I got to do that together.

Rants/Raves: hubby and I are getting our first night without the kids this weekend since DD was born. We’re just staying home and making dinner together, watching movies, maybe do a little christmas shopping but boy am i excited to sleep in whichever position i choose without two tiny humans attached to me 😆

    Questions?:

GTKY? My husband was my first serious boyfriend and I was 24 when we met so aside from a couple dumb high school boyfriends, i never really “dated” and feel so lucky to have skipped that entire life experience.
  • @cmill828 I bought some of these amazon bras last pregnancy and I splurged and bought some kindred bravely ones this pregnancy. I prefer the amazon bras and bought some more just barely. Just make sure you hook them and put them in a bra bag or something before washing because a couple of mine got the hooks all bent because I was washing them so often with questionable washing skills. https://www.amazon.com/Lataly-Sleeping-Wirefree-Breastfeeding-Maternity/dp/B0717922NK/ref=sr_1_3_sspa?keywords=nursing+bras&qid=1701357530&sr=8-3-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1&psc=1
  • @night_nurse Yes! I love bone broth! I make a lot of it from our beef. That is a good reminder and I will make myself some more and maybe some soup too.
  • Finally have a few minutes to post!

Upcoming Appointments: I had one on Monday with my OB and will have one with the prenatal counselor on Monday

How are you feeling?: Decent. Sleep is getting more uncomfortable, but overall still feeling pretty good.

Rants/Raves: I had a good OB visit - she was reassuring and everything looked good. Boys are still both breech, but she wasn't worried.
Another rave: I finally ordered a stroller! After soooooo much waffling I went with the Valco Snap Duo Trend, made possible by my grandma offering to pay for most of it 💜

GTKY: MH and I have been together since 10th grade, so I didn't ever go on any dates, but I am enjoying sewing everyone else's stories!

Upcoming Appointments: Tuesday I start weekly NSTs and BPPs

How are you feeling?: back to being tired and easily winded. I am back to taking a daily nap when possible. I rarely feel hungry because my stomach is squished. Thankfully heartburn has been minimal.

    Rants/Raves:

Rave - my mom and MIL are at my house with our two kids while DH and I are at his work conference. So much rest and quiet for me 👍

Rant: my favorite part of going out of town has always been eating but the GD is really putting a damper on that 👎 It would be a little better if I at least felt hungry to give me motivation to eat something but choking down considerably less appetizing food when I’m not even hungry is a bummer too

    Questions:

Worst date: I only went on one date before DH and I started dating so I guess that’s it by default lol. It wasn’t really bad. We went to the movies and saw Drumline. It was a little awkward though because I could tell he was going to try to kiss me during the movie so I kept my eyes very focused on the screen - I hadn’t kissed anyone yet and wasn’t sure he deserved the honor lol.

How are you feeling? Good! Excited about the Christmas season and ❄️

    Rants/Raves:
Rant - feel behind on prepping baby area/nursery. Haven't done much and heard I should be taking advantage of the energy in 2nd TM to do this but haven't had much time.

Questions: what do I expect at the gestational diabetes test? It's happening at next appointment, I've heard some horror stories about the drink. I've had a colonoscopy before and drank that positively HORRID gallon of whatever concoction they make you drink to clear out your inards. Is it as bad as that? Should I fast before?

Worst date: ugh, all of them before I met DH. I try not to think about them 😆😆 *cringe*

  • @aby1228 I am personally not bothered by the drink. It just tastes like flat soda to me. The 1 hr I got fruit punch. The 3 hr I got orange. They give you 5 minutes to drink it but I never need that much time. I’ve done the 1 hr 3 times and the 3 hr 1 time but I’ve done it at different practices and my experience was different at both. My 1st two pregnancies they checked me with finger pricks so I knew my results immediately. At this new office they did blood draws so I had to wait for them to post the results. My 1 hr took almost a day but my 3 hr results came back within an hour. When I took the 1 hr with my first two I did feel a little sick after drinking it but it was manageable. With this pregnancy I felt fine during the one hour. The three hour was harder towards the end but also manageable.

  • @aby1228 The drink doesn't bother me at all - it's just overly sweet flat soda. And like @ceclarlinetlo said, you have to drink it fast. For the 1 hour I got a blood draw, then drank the drink and got another an hour later. My docs recommend that you do it in the morning, and that you eat a good high protein meal, at least an hour before your test.

I failed the 1 hour with both of my other pregnancies, but passed the 3 hour both times. IMHO, the 3 hour is serious misery, because at least at our hospital, they make you fast both food and water for 12 hours. I was fine with fasting food, but going 15 hours without water was pure torture. I am 🙏🙏🙏 that I pass the 1 hour this time and don't have to do that again!

  • @aby1228 this was so much better than colonoscopy prep! That stuff is horrific. We have a 2-hour test here, and I started to feel a bit woozy after the second blood draw. Also crashed hard later, but overall it was less bad than I expected
  • @aby1228
so my ob with my first and this one, allowed me to have a lil food.. but like nothing sugary or carbohydrates before the test. It was hard for me the first time and I picked the lime flavor which wasn’t bad itself. It was having to drink it so fast that almost made me throw it back up. When I almost threw up, the nurse was quick to tell me if I didn’t swallow it, I was going to have to do it again. So I recommend just not thinking about it. Just swallow as fast as you can lol.

Upcoming Appointments: just had one Friday and we scheduled out every 2 weeks from
now to 36, then weekly until my due date. It’s getting very real over here.

How are you feeling?: good. My hands were a little extra sore after all the Thanksgiving prep

Rants/Raves: we canned 22 gallons of apple cider/apple jelly/apple syrup the couple days leading up to thanksgiving and then my dishwasher died and we discovered a water leak. I ran my dishwasher sanitize cycle at least 3 times a day while we were canning so I can’t imagine how much water ended up leaking over that week prior to discovering the problem. This week we filed an insurance claim and had a water remediation company come out to help dry out the floors and assess for mold which they found behind the dishwasher and sink cabinet. The water went from the dishwasher all the way down the cabinet line and across to our island under the wood flooring so yesterday they removed my cabinets and cut a giant chunk out of my original hardwood flooring that goes throughout our house😫 I am overwhelmed at the idea that this could be a massive project to set back to rights if they can’t match my flooring.
  • @kmw611 two years ago the water valve behind our toilet rusted through and the water pressure busted it clean off and flooded our bathroom. It took about 30 minutes to get the water turned off so it was quite a bit of water. The insurance company paid for a company to come in and dry it as best they could, but there was about a 3.5 foot x3.5 foot square of our hallway that had to be replaced down to the subfloor. Our floors were original from 1928 and they didn’t have any currently available stains that matched, so the insurance company paid to put down untreated wood and then sand all of our floors so they could all be stained again to match. They also paid for us to be in a hotel while it was done and for a moving company to come pack and store our belongings while the sanding and staining were done.
