Headed to my aunt's for Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family. Their home is perfect for family holidays with the food and most of the festivities upstairs, and the pool table and "bar" and couches downstairs when you need to get out of the hustle and bustle to just chill out a bit. I'm looking forward to it very much. They are my godparents and have always made me and my little family feel so loved every time we see them. My favorite part of the meal is my aunt's sweet potatoes with the marshmallows and her macaroni salad! My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is when we all share what we're thankful for. We put out the disclaimer that we are all thankful for family and friends; then everybody has to go outside the box a bit.
I’m hosting Thanksgiving, which I’ve done since we bought our house in 2019. My husband found an oil free turkey fryer at the swap shop for free, and my neighbor brought us a home grown turkey as a gift, so basically free thanksgiving this year! 🙌🏼 I have a huge extended family, so growing up I was used to 30+ people for thanksgiving. At our house it will just be us 4, my folks and my in laws, so it won’t be a huge group, but will still be a good time. This year I am extra thankful for this miracle pregnancy, and also pie! I have celiacs so I’m always experimenting with new pie crust recipes that (hopefully) taste like the real thing! Making pecan, apple, and pumpkin this year. But my favorite dish is this butternut squash, apple, and sausage casserole. It kind of tastes like stuffing but without the bread. So good. My favorite tradition is the family walk after the meal. Not sure how far we’ll make it this year (my dad just had his knee replaced) but the weather is supposed to be nice to maybe we’ll drive to the beach for a short one.
Happy Thanksgiving June Mamas! Thankful for this group to share the ups and downs of pregnancy with! ❤️
Thanksgiving is my least favorite holiday. We have 3 different places to go on the day of Thanksgiving. It makes for a long day, and I feel like we don't get to really enjoy any place we visit because we have to rush off to the next place. And someone is always going to fuss because we didn't stay long enough.
I'd rather pick one and rotate every year, but it's important to my husband to see all family. It's not my hill to die on.
Favorite tradition: my husband and I went to rival colleges, and the teams play on Thanksgiving. We always watch together. The game is close to us this year, so we're going.

We are in LA with my in-laws for Thanksgiving - we are staying up here for about 2.5 weeks, which is nice since they live so far away. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the sides - we often just have Thanksgiving with my husband, my mom, and I (and now our daughter), but my husband makes fun of me because I always want to make WAY too many side dishes for that small of a group. One exciting thing this year is that we will be sharing the gender of this little baby at Thanksgiving this year (my husband won't even let me tell him until then!)
@maple1422 I love that y'all force people to be a little bit more creative than family and friends - sounds like a great exercise (and probably a great way to hear more interesting things about what has been going on with your family!)
@maggiemadeit yay for free Thanksgiving! We are buying pies this year (I was told my four sides was plenty for me to make), but also settled on pumpkin, apple, and pecan - yum!
@saltedcaramel518 eek! Three places is definitely a lot - Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but that would ruin it for me too. My college always plays football on Thanksgiving too (it used to be a big rivalry game - and with conference changes I'm hopeful it might restart) - so love the college football tradition as well!
Drove from NC to Ohio to spend the weekend with my family, and we finally told them about the pregnancy tonight! The drive was super long and I'm kinda sore though
