Baby Nursery Set Up

Hi my January moms!

Just hitting my third trimester (late to the party since I'm EDD January 29th) but thought I would see if anyone has some great space saving baby nursery hacks/ideas. First time mom so bare with me haha.

We are turning the spare bedroom of our two bedroom apartment into the baby's room. I've decided to leave the double bed in there for restless sleep nights and a second place for me/ my husband to go in the early months to get a little bit more sleep if needed. If when we actually move him full time into there is I think I need more space I will figure something else out.

I was excited to find that on a normal sized hanger you can hang three baby onesies upsides down by the buttons! I think I'm going to add a second small closet rod for more hanging space as well.

Let me know if anyone has any space saving ideas or just wants to talk about nursery ideas out loud to someone besides there husband who just nods like mine lol

Re: Baby Nursery Set Up

  • No great ideas yet on my end! lol. But I know I'll need them. Every time a package from our registry shows up there's less and less space in the nursery. Glad to know that we'll have her in our room for at least the first few months so there'll be time to reconfigure if needed.

We were thinking about getting a futon couch for the nursery, as it'll save a little space when it's in couch mode! Our other "guest room" isn't fully insulated so it's pretty unlivable in the summer in case someone needed to stay. But probably won't come to fruition and we probably won't feel like having family stay with us in the next year anyways- so oh well!

  • I too have a small space- we are converting our living room into a nursery/living room situation haha. We are working on a home extension but because of the cost of materials lately it just hasn’t happened yet. Hoping for next year!
Until then, we have a two seater couch and a glider hanging out to watch tv (which we do rarely anyway).

I’ve seen people using utility carts and I’m wondering if it’s a space saver, or if it takes up too much space. Otherwise we are skipping the changing table in favour of having a changing pad on the dresser in the nursery, and I was planning on storing a few things like an activity jumper that can’t be used until a little later under the crib in the space there!
  • We’ve been working in the nursery this week- I bought some Rubbermaid bins that slide under the crib for extra storage of things. Things like toys that are for a little older, extra blankets and crib sheets, I might put extra wipes under there too! As it’s also our living room we have a few blankets for baby and some for us on a blanket ladder already as well. :)
