(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: green I think
Upcoming Appointments: November 16 12 week check up
How are you feeling?: lots better!
Rants/Raves: I am in that in between stage where my normal pants feel tight and uncomfortable but my maternity pants from last pregnancy feel too big.
Rave - my 13 month old is going to day care for the first time this week! I go back to work in January so we are going to slowly ease him in to daycare
Questions: do you think it’s okay to hot tub (in my own personal one) if I turn the temp down to like 100F and only for 10 minutes? I am going to ask my doctor but I miss my hot tub
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? You can’t go wrong with a classic chicken noodle soup
EDD / Weeks + Days: June 14 / 9+3 (RE moved it up to June 12, but my OBGYN moved it back. Seems like a wash to me, given how things go down at the end anyway lol)
FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM
Baby is the size of a (an): Cherry
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: TBC
Upcoming Appointments: Waiting on a call from MFM for a consult and NT scan
How are you feeling?: A bit better. The nausea has been more manageable and I’m sleeping a little better at night. Still waiting for some of my usual energy to come back though.
Rants/Raves: I made my first pregnancy purchase this morning and now I’m just sure I’ve jinxed myself (because that’s obviously a thing 🙄). I bought a home Doppler. I know it might be a few more weeks before I can use it but I’m looking forward to getting a little more connection and reassurance between visits.
Questions: Anyone have a home Doppler? When did you first find a heartbeat?
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? I absolutely love this butternut lentil stew.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: TBC
Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound on November 15
How are you feeling?: I feel like I am starting to get my appetite back but am still very tired. Hoping to start feeling a little less tired in the coming weeks because honestly it’s crazy that I do nothing and am still exhausted haha
Rants/Raves: I am starting to feel hungry more of the time, which is a good thing! But at the same time now I am alway hungry now. Need to find some snacks that I can have throughout the day.
Questions: I am starting to see a bit of a belly but I think it is too early for a bump right? Is it probably just bloating?
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? A love a potato beer cheddar soup. Makes me feel all warm and cozy as the weather is getting cold
@maggiemadeit that soup sounds amazing I am going to have to try it!
@littlemarshmallow my Dr told me that as long as it is bath temp then it should be fine. But I am a bit freaked out to do it, I think the issue becomes less important in the second trimester though!
Upcoming Appointments: this Friday for my 1st appt
How are you feeling?: very bloated! Occasionally I gag/ dry heave but energy is still fine so thst has me worried. Eager for my first appt this week.
Rants/Raves: one of my girls took her first real steps!
Questions: none at the moment
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? I've been making so many soups this last few weeks- zuppa Toscana, chili, curried butternut squash soup, loaded potato soup... making vegetable soup next
@littlemarshmallow I asked this question at my OB intake phone call. They put me on with a nurse. My question; how low do I have to set my swim spa temp ( which doubles as a hot tub) to safely use to swim? My answer: "not recommended to use hot tub at all in first trimester but ask your OB when you see her". 😶 not helpful. Hoping for a real answer this week.
@sbaby2023 I know they say it’s all bloat at this stage, which makes sense because the baby is still so small. But the uterus is almost double its normal size and starting to peak out over the pelvic bone by 9ish weeks. Personally I just look kinda thick in the morning and by bedtime I have a legit small bump. We all carry it differently though. Maybe this week we can start a baby bump / baby bloat thread to compare notes 😂
@littlemarshmallow the handout from my midwife clinic said saunas and hot tubs are fine in small doses. Didn’t even mention turning the temp down. I was a little surprised and relieved. I may start using our hot tub when I feel better.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: can’t wait to find out
Upcoming Appointments: Thursday
How are you feeling?: eh. I’m traveling for work this week and actually feel less nausea than I did last week. But I’m still far from 100 percent.
Rants/Raves: rave: nausea is okay the last 2 days and no puking. Rant: I am exhausted but trying to keep up with my friend/coworker since I’m not telling anyone yet.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: n/a, not yet
Upcoming Appointments: 2nd appointment completed today, next one in 4 weeks
How are you feeling?: Y'all, this is so hard physically and mentally in ways that I did not expect! But I have good support and I'm giving it my best. Loving learning a little bit more about our little one at each appointment.
Rants/Raves: First time hearing the heartbeat today! ❤️ Little one is making me feel all of the feelings!
Questions: Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed with the massive to-do list to get through in the next few months?! 😬
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? Normally chilli. Pregnant answer: I'm sorry, I can't even really think about this one without wanting to gag.
Upcoming Appointments: TBD. Waiting to receive call from scheduler
How are you feeling?: Definitely feeling tired and moody. The nausea has gotten better over week 8.
Rants/Raves: Our first OB appt went well yesterday! Initially the OB was concerned that my nausea was so mild as well as minimal symptoms, but the ultrasound was promising! Baby measured right on track and they were wiggling away. I’m so relieved. It felt like a very long week waiting for this appt. So thankful that I told my friends before the second trimester. They’ve been wonderful support and it’s made first trimester so much easier.
Questions: Anyone reading any books that they absolutely love right now?
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? I love chicken and dumplings on the really cold and wet fall days.
@littlemarshmallow I definitely feel the same way in the clothing department. The only pants that I find comfortable are the aerie leggings and my overalls. Definitely feel like the bump will pop way earlier this time around.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good so far. It is the fatigue, slight insomnia, and bloating/ clothes starting to get tight that are my biggest concerns.
Rants/Raves: Raves: we took a mini-getaway for our first anniversary that my husband had taken the lead in planning. He did such a wonderful job to make it relaxing and romantic. Also the place we stayed at was super accommodating in changing me to a prenatal massage, swapping the champagne in our room for non-alcoholic wine, and allowing me to make substitutions on my order to omit some of the crème sauces
Questions: N/A
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe?
I’m with @jrose424 I love a good Chicken and Dumpling soup!
A new recipe that we just tried out this week though was spiced carrot and sweet potato soup. It turned out to be another good one and I like experimenting and trying to incorporate different pregnancy superfoods!
@jrose424 I just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea, which I liked, and I’m about halfway through our local library’s November book club book, Lab Girl, which I am really enjoying.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: don't know but we think Pink
Upcoming Appointments: Nov 28
How are you feeling?: everyday is a new day. One I have no symptoms and the next day wake up a full blown headache, dehydration, back in pain. This is a roller coaster for sure!
Rants/Raves: I am just tired bc I can't sleep well no mater what I do I wake up every 2 hours.
Questions: can I still sleep on my back or tummy? I need help on how to sleep at night I am on verge of tears bc I just wanna sleep!
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? Love rice and mung beans.
@jrose424 I just read Iron Flame (the sequel to fourth wing) and it was really good in a keep you on the edge of your seat kinda way. I have also been reading the throne of glass series, which has been good as well!
Feeling: getting used to being bloated all the time, had a couple chill days but morning sickness has been pretty tough this week and I'm having aversions to meat.
Rant/rave- I get really hungry and then what I have to eat tastes awful even though it sounded good minutes ago.
Question- would love book/podcast recommendations for FTMs
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I JUST got my NIPT results....team pink!
Upcoming Appointments: Going through a little bit of a transition. I currently have an OB appointment scheduled for November 28, but think I'm going to switch to midwives and have an appointment December 1 with them. I can't decide if I should keep my OB appt since I won't have seen the midwives yet...just in case I change my mind.
How are you feeling?: Starting to feel MUCH better over the last week. Still have some nauseau and exhaustion, but I can definitely tell that it's less frequent and severe.
Rants/Raves: Rant and Rave in one - I'm visiting my in laws in California for two weeks and there's lots on both sides about this. Raves include that it's really nice having an extra pair of hands to help with my little one and I have off work most of this week (working remotely some). Rants include that while I actually really like my in laws for the most part, they drive me bonkers some times. Another unrelated rave is that my daughter (15 month old) seems to be learning like a new word or two every day which is so fun!
Questions: Nothing I can think of!
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? I love soup, it's so hard to choose just one. I'll say a good butternut squash soup
@sbaby2023 I just finished the Throne of Glass series and just started Iron Flame
@jrose424 I really like all the Sarah J Maas books (which is Throne of Glass, but I'd actually recommend starting with a different series) and Fourth Wing, like @sbaby2023 said. What genres of books do you like?
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Hoping to find out 12/4. Our NIPTS results came back in 12 days with our second baby.
Upcoming Appointments: First u/s 11/22 - 1 week! I'm so excited to see him/her.
How are you feeling?: I'm feeling much better, have some energy back and the nausea has faded. Hoping I'm just hitting a good stride in my body and there's nothing going on.
Rants/Raves: Raving about how cute babies are. One year changes so much. It will be fun to have an infant again.
Questions: how do you schedule a c-section? Clearly, I will ask my ob, but we won't see her until December and my brain is busy. Do we have to pick the date ahead of time? Will they let you be "on-call" for the week you're due? In a perfect world, I'd like my body to decide the baby should come out before we do the surgery, but there is no way to know when that will be. My first two went 8 days late and 6 days late, so I'm leery to schedule anything earlier than my due date. I thought I read that 39 weeks was pretty normal.
GTKY: favorite fall soup or other recipe? Chili, because it's so easy and delicious! My chili is pretty heavy on the beans. Gotta have the jiffy cornbread on the side, use half a can of creamed corn in addition to what the box calls for. I thought I read loaded potatoe soup on this thread, but now I can't find it. That sounds interesting and I'll be looking up some recipes for it.
@littlemarshmallow my 14 month old goes to daycare for the first time in 2 weeks! We are also easing in, doing 3 days/week to start. I think when baby comes, we might move to fulltime (5 days/week). It will be as much a transition for me as the toddler. I'm going to miss having him with me everyday! To your question, I'd think 100F for ten minutes would be fine. @kbtt2022 zuppa toscana is my favorite to eat, but I don't enjoy making it. @stress_engine There is no tired like pregnancy tired! I truly don't think it can be explained, just has to be experienced. Welcome to the club. I remember feeling like the to-do list was massive with my first, but by the second time, I knew we needed a glider, changing table crib, bottles, diapers, and wipes. After that the registry is mostly fun. And bottles can be hit or miss so you might not want to stock up on those ahead of time until you know what your baby likes. @feli14 how amazing to have such a magical trip - so happy for you! @hrjackson7 it's so hard to plan for what will taste good! grocery shopping and meal planning is a real struggle right now. Chobani flips and pickles keep making the cut somehow. @curlyandpreggo congrats on the news! How exciting, two girls for your family!
@maple1422 I think it will depend on your provider and hospital. I am a mandatory c section this time and I was told that I could schedule it either at 39 or 40 weeks with my doctor (they won’t go past 40 at my age). If I go into labor before the scheduled date then there is no telling who will do the surgery, because the hospital I am delivering at has many doctors from different practices who cover on call duties. I’m with you though, I’d like to give my baby the opportunity to decide when he/she is done cooking, and I really did enjoy the experience of going into labor on my own last time.

For any of you struggling with sleep, ask your doctor about taking Unisom. I had awful insomnia, and it has saved me! I take half a pill every night.
