Any older mommas expecting? I had a late start with my first 5 years ago and now our second miracle is coming in April... I'll be 42 next month and I feel great.
I’m 40 and expecting my first. Feel so excited and blessed, but am shocked at how much they say “advanced maternal age” at the OB. Did anyone experience the same?
Oh my, I've just found out I'm pregnant, I'm 42 in December! My son will be 10 in December to so bug age gap. Mine was unexpected so I'm still in shock at the moment. Husband is very supportive and actually over the moon so that's nice. But wow, I still can't believe it
More and more research is showing that risks are actually low in “older” pregnancies. The medical world needs to catch up on terminology. I’m 36 with my second, my daughter is 12.
(Please forgive the knottie, I can’t change it yet)
This is my first too, and I’ll be 37 when I deliver. I think there is a lot on my mind about being “advanced maternal age” (which is a term I prefer far more than geriatric pregnancy), but I’m really thankful to be here and I’m hopeful about my growing family.
I feel perfectly fine having my babies "later in life" I truly believe advanced maternal age is an old way of thinking. I've heard of so many young moms having just as many issues (sadly) as they warn older moms about. Just do your best to take care of yourself and your little one. My first born I was 37.. smooth pregnancy but only dilated to 5cm in delivery so I had a C-section... recovery was smooth as well. I will say I don't take any kind of over the counter medication during my pregnancy (even if they say it's safe).. I do my best to find natural remedies. For example raw almonds help with acid reflux. (Just my preference)
I’m 35 so I’ve now joined the “advanced maternal age” group according to my OB lol this is my second child but my first was 8.5 years ago! So it kind of feels new and unknown all over again.
38 here for my first. @kaitykins - bonus appointments indeed! I’m so glad I’ve already had three ultrasounds. It’s wild that they usually wait until week 12. That seems like so long.
39 with my 4th, oldest is 11. I have anxiety about age because I had two losses in 2021 but so far, so good. I think they should rename it to "Wise Maternal Age" instead of Advanced. :)
I’m 41 and starting over with baby number 4!! When our new bundle arrives we will have an almost 22 yr old, almost 21yr old, 17 yr old and 16yr old!!! I have noticed alot has changed in the last 16yrs!!!!
I was 35 with my first, 37 with my second, and now 39 with this pregnancy. I’ll be 40 by the time the baby’s born. At my first prenatal visit with this one the OB kept mentioning my age, so I asked him what year he started his OB practice. 1986. I said that’s almost as long as I’ve been alive and who are you calling old? Then I laughed and he didn’t know what to say. 🤣
I'm mom to 9yo twins, and I'll be a month shy of 43 when the new baby gets here. Which means I'll be 61 attending high school graduation... Thankfully, we have friends and neighbors in the same boat, but it can be a little nerve wracking when I start to do the math.
I’m 35 and first time mom! Being called “geriatric” or “advanced maternal age” makes me feel like I’m 80 lol but I’m happy I waited until I was older. Everything has been smooth so far and hoping that continues throughout the rest of the pregnancy!
Re: Age is just a number...right?
