Upcoming Appointments: Appointment with Family Doctor on the 20th
How are you feeling?: Still very excited but also still having the overall tiredness/ fatigue.
Rants/Raves: No rants at the moment. But my husband and I both decided to share the news with our immediate families this weekend. Needless to say everyone is thrilled! Although early, we wanted to share in our excitement, but also be able to rely on support throughout the pregnancy. This is also the first baby in each of our families!
Questions: Anyone else have tips for napping? No matter how tired I am, I absolutely cannot nap! And I’m plagued by the 5:00am wake-up's and I’m not always able to fall back asleep.
GTKY - Any cravings? I am trying my best to eat whole foods that are healthy and nutritious. Building in all the recommended pregnancy superfoods. That said Pasta is always a craving! I’ve been able to indulge while being mindful to pack it full of veggies or some kind of seafood or protein.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: not sure yet
Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound this Thursday
How are you feeling?: Living in a haze of nausea, needing to eat to stave off the nausea, but nothing sounds good. I walked by the meat counter at the grocery store and gagged. Also certain people smell AWFUL. My refrigerator smells awful. So, that’s cool.
Rants/Raves: rave: sleep rant: food
Questions: who is working full time an dealing with the nausea reasonably well? Tell me your secrets.
GTKY - Any cravings? Not really. I just try to eat simple foods when I can stomach them.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Getting my NIPT blood test on Thursday so hopefully I will find out soon!
Upcoming Appointments: NIPT blood draw on Thursday then 12 week appt on 12/29
How are you feeling?: Exhausted and nauseous. I also have been having some anxiety and guilt related to some news I found out over the weekend - **TW preterm birth** in spoiler below.
A friend shared over the weekend that she went into preterm labor a couple of weeks ago and her baby was delivered at 23 weeks. The baby is in the NICU and will be for about 15 more weeks. I can't even imagine what she is going through. Aside from the pain I feel for my friend, It's also giving me anxiety because it just reminds me how many things can go wrong throughout this process. And I feel guilty about the potential of (hopefully) having a healthy, full-term baby as I will probably have the next baby born from this group of friends (unless someone else is pregnant that hasn't shared yet - I actually haven't told this group of friends yet).
Rants/Raves: Rants - I'm really over the nausea and exhaustion. Just ready to be done with this phase. It's also started getting colder here and I'm not a fan of cold weather - I'm trying to stay active in part by going on walks, but the cold weather is such a disincentive for me. Raves - I'm going to LA for 2.5 weeks or so to see my in laws and a good friend. In addition to seeing them, I'm happy to get to have some warmer weather. But one more rant related to the trip - I'm very nervous about flying while I'm having morning sickness. In my last pregnancy I flew when I was about 14 weeks and had been over my MS for a week or two, but it came back on the plane when there was the least bit of turbulence. That makes me super nervous given that I'm in the thick of it now.
Questions: Tips for managing MS while flying? Thinking about ordering some of those seasickness bands, but do they actually work?
GTKY - Any cravings? Mostly still in the food aversions phase, but sour candy has been helping with my nausea so I guess I've been craving that in some sense.
@littlemarshmallow oh man, I'm with you on the teething and sickness for my little one too - she has TWO teeth coming in and a cold. I forgot that I was going to mention that as a rant. I hope yours feels better soon! And glad you are starting to feel better.
@feli14 No tips on napping, but just solidarity. I've tried to take some naps during my little one's naps over the weekend and failed completely. I will say though that sometimes just laying down and resting - even if I'm not actually sleeping - can be helpful to some degree (though clearly not as good as an actual nap).
@rachel-the-wolf-flower I work full-time, but luckily from home 4 out of 5 days a week. The biggest thing for me has been keeping some saltines nearby and snacking on those when I need to has helped me push through. I've somehow lucked out most days I've actually been in the office, but I also am not shy about closing my door when I need to. I've strongly debated telling my boss early, but haven't yet.
@curlyandpreggo I’m sorry about your friend’s baby. What a hard situation. I can completely understand why that would stir up some difficult feelings.
EDD / Weeks + Days: June 12 / 8+5
FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM
Baby is the size of a (an): raspberry
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: TBC
Upcoming Appointments: Ultrasound with my RE this morning and an intake with my regular OBGYN later this week
How are you feeling?: Not too bad. The nausea has been manageable, but I am still just exhausted and can’t seem to catch a good night sleep. Pregnancy dreams are WILD.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I can’t get NIPT because of the vanishing twin, which I was really hoping to get for some peace of mind. Rave: I am very small up too and pregnancy boobs are totally happening!
Questions: Anyone else already putting on weight? I’m trying to give myself some grace, I am technically growing 2 right now, but I’ve already put on a few pounds which feels like too many for only 8ish weeks.
GTKY - Any cravings? Not a craving exactly but I have been REALLY into big salads with peppercorn ranch this week.
@curlyandpreggo that’s exciting that you’ll be finding out soon!
I haven’t had to deal yet with MS, however I’ve used the sea bands before when cruising and they do actually help with the acupressure in your wrists, it definitely alleviated feelings of nausea when we transferred to smaller boats for tendering. Hopefully they do the trick for you when you are flying and in day-to-day life.
@rachel-the-wolf-flower I was shopping with my husband yesterday and I agree I had to leave him in the meat department because I just couldn’t deal with seeing and smelling all the raw meat.
I’m working full time, 3-days in office and thankfully haven’t had to deal with sickness but just some feelings of nausea. I second keeping some saltine crackers at your desk.
Upcoming Appointments: TOMORROW !!! First ultrasound
How are you feeling?: mentally I am better !! Physically I am still feeling sick every. Frickin. Night. No vomiting which I am so grateful for but all I can do is sleep to relieve the nausea 😭 . I am still having really vivid and scary dreams as well.
Rants/Raves: I am so excited for my ultrasound tomorrow !! And very very nervous but I have been waiting for this for almost a month !
Questions:
GTKY - Any cravings? - I had a weird craving a week ago for vinegar, and rolls with dipping oil which I can’t seem to find anywhere lol
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Can’t wait to find out!
Upcoming Appointments: first appt tomorrow
How are you feeling?: horrible. I’ve had non-stop nausea and exhaustion for the last 2 weeks, but the last week has been particularly atrocious. I’ve thrown up a few times and absolutely nothing sounds good. I started taking unisom and b6, which seems to help quite a bit.
Rants/Raves: Rant: I’m feeling really anxious about telling people about this baby. I think it’s going to catch a lot of people by surprise (including family), and I’m going to want to justify why we’re having another one. I didn’t feel this way in my other pregnancies so it’s been hard to navigate.
Also, I’m traveling next week with a friend/colleague to give a key note talk at a conference. I’m really nervous about how I’m going to feel. I don’t want to tell my friend just yet (for the reason above and other reasons).
Rave: I’m excited for my first US tomorrow. Hoping for positive news.
Questions:
GTKY - Any cravings? None, only aversions to literally everything.
@rachel-the-wolf-flower@curlyandpreggo I just started taking unisom and b6 to help with my MS, and I feel a million times better. I’m still not 100 percent myself (food still isn’t appealing), but I can at least get through the day without dry heaving or vomiting a bunch.
@maggiemadeit I’ve definitely gained a few pounds already. All I can eat are carbs and more carbs, and my activity level has plummeted. I’m trying to not be too hard on myself since I’m just trying to survive right now. But yeah, not fun.
I’m the I’m experiencing the same! It’s so frustrating because I don’t typically eat a ton of carbs. I think I’ve gained at least 4 pounds. But I’m also very bloated…Hopefully we get our energy back towards the end of the first trimester, and can resume more physical activity!
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: TBD
Upcoming Appointments: just had my first OB appointment yesterday and got to see the baby. Everything looked great! Got some blood work done so hopefully that all comes back normal as well
How are you feeling?: tired and nauseas
Rants/Raves: Raves: in my ultrasound yesterday the baby was moving around and actually looked like a baby. It was really surreal for both me and my husband to think there is actually a baby growing inside me. It seems obvious and logically I know that is the case but seeing it is different and honestly amazing.
Rants: I am honestly so tired and can barely make it through the work day. I am even taking short 20 min naps (luckily I work from home) and I am still really struggling.
Questions: none right now
GTKY - Any cravings? No cravings per se, everything still sounds horrible. I am also pretty much exclusively eating carbs, which makes me feel guilty.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: trying to convince my husband to be team green
Upcoming Appointments: I had one yesterday. Had an ultrasound, and everything looks great. I go back in 4 weeks and will get blood drawn for NIPT.
How are you feeling?: I have days when I feel awful and days when I feel okay. The past 3 days have been good days.
Rants/Raves: Rant: my husband coaches high school football, and I've been doing a lot of solo parenting since he's working a lot. I'm always struggling towards the end of the season (the team made playoffs and could possibly go all the way to the championship, so we could have several more weeks). Add in first trimester sickness, and I'm just not my best self right now.
Rave: just so happy to get a good report at the doctor yesterday. It makes it really real now.
Questions:
GTKY - Any cravings? Anything salty/fried/crunchy

How are you feeling?: Back and forth between great and rough. Tired.
Rants/Raves: So hungry, nothing sounds good. MH suggested we get Chinese for dinner yesterday; it hit the spot!
Questions: no
GTKY - Any cravings? All buttery breads. Tortilla with butter and cinnamon/sugar. Whole wheat english muffins with butter and peanut butter. Cinnamon raisin toast with butter. Sourdough everything crust toast with butter. Grilled cheese sandwich.

My only symptoms nausea and fatigue seemed to have declined over the 8th week. It’s definitely spiked my anxiety. Hopefully baby is still ok.
