Re: Weekly Check-In 10/30

  • EDD/Weeks + days: Dec 23rd / 32 + 2

Baby is the size of a(n): bunch of celery

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: pink

Upcoming appointments: regular checkup on Wednesday. Meet and greet with a pediatrician on Friday

How are you feeling? Exhausted!! Also feel like I’m getting sick (in laws have been in town and they have been going all over the place)

Raves/Rants: husbands getting ready to pain the nursery next week. Finally!

in laws have been in town and causing more stress than help. Hope it’s not a sign of what’s to come when they visit once the baby is born.

Questions: STMs - did you use a belly band for postpartum recovery?

Baby is the size of a(n): Tickle Me Elmo

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 🩷

Upcoming appointments: Follow-up growth ultrasound on 11/14

How are you feeling? Super anxious! We painted (mostly - my husband is going to do touchups this afternoon) and had our baby shower this weekend, so now we have a car FULL of stuff that I need to go through and organize and we need to start putting furniture together.  At least now I know the stuff we still need, so I'm putting together a cart that we can use our gift cards and stuff on.  Also, my husband is going to be up at his parents' house this weekend to help them renovate their house, so I'm going to be doing a lot of stuff on my own this weekend.

Raves/Rants: In addition to just being anxious over all of the stuff we need to do to prepare, I just had a check-up appt. today and they measured my belly at 37 weeks...so it looks like she's not slowing down in the growth department.  It's looking like we'll probably have to induce early or they said she might just decide to come early on her own. 😬

Questions: Anyone else feeling completely unprepared?
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 32w2d, 12/23

Baby is the size of a(n): 3 expo markers stacked

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Blue

    Upcoming appointments: 11/9

How are you feeling? The constant back pain is starting to get to me, but if I lay down then I have hip pain (go figure).  Definitely more tired - and I don't know about the rest of you but I am also so tired of people telling me to "sleep while you can".

Raves/Rants: I have this constant nagging feeling like the baby could arrive any day.  I am not sure if it is just nesting (that kicked in weeks ago for me) or if it is just the fact that this boy is constantly pushing on my cervix and is sitting low.

Questions: Only to do left on my list is to create some frozen meals. Anyone have any good lists?  I know I should try for healthy post partum to help with milk supply but I also want food that will hopefully taste good :)

@dmcg17- I have been on the other side of the spectrum and probably over prepared (driving my husband crazy).  What I keep reminding myself is that the baby just needs you!  If the nursery isn't perfect, if you are behind on chores, whatever it is- it will all be okay and you can get to it eventually.  Not sure if that's doing much for me but I hope it can help you!  I have also started reading daily pregnancy affirmations to stay relaxed and to be excited for the little peanut to be born.  We are all in this together!

    Weeks: 33 Wed

Baby weighs as much as 2 ukuleles

    Team blue

Upcoming appointment next week for 34 weeks, phone appointment for hospital registration next week

How are you feeling: generally anxious all the time

Raves/rants: Today I learned I won a formula scholarship for breast cancer survivors! I'm so happy! It will cover formula for a year ❤️.

Also got my c section scheduled!! Baby will be born Nov 30 at 37 weeks (unless I go earlier)

    Questions: none really

@benderisgreat12-23 I've been making double batches of things we like to eat and freezing them. I made an extra meatloaf, swedish meatballs, alfredo chicken and broccoli stuffed shells, and some soup. I know people will bring me some meals, so I don't want to do too much, but it is nice to have a few things!

  • This might be more appropriate for the weekly panic thread but had a panic today because I found out from my SIL my in-laws are planning to visit for Christmas (after I said we’re not hosting Christmas/having visitors for Christmas this year). STMs - how did you navigate family ignoring your wishes/when you want visitors?
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 12/19, 32 weeks

Baby is the size of a(n): bunch of celery

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Pink

Upcoming appointments: Thursday with a breastfeeding class, next Tuesday for my 34w check up

How are you feeling? Good, starting to get tired after little things.

Raves/Rants: (Rant) We are still in the process of finishing our second floor so baby’s room isn’t ready and might not be by the time she’s here. She’s also measuring small so my doctor is thinking about an induction which I really don’t want. But I want the best for baby, so if that’s what I have to do, I will for her.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 35 +1

Baby is the size of a(n): mini poodle

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink:💚💚💚💚

Upcoming appointments: too many to count!! Had a nst today, an ob appointment in two days, and next week, I have three appointments and we've scheduled 2x a week nsts until due date!!! My calendar is wild and I think that itself will put me into labor! Mind, baby is doing extremely well, so all this extra monitoring is very annoying... Especially when a 7am "quick" appointment gets me home at 10 (only a fifteen minute drive!)

How are you feeling? Tired. Decided to walk to the grocery yesterday instead of working out at home, and fell apart just from carrying the groceries... Par for the course!
Thankfully, aside from being in the bathroom five times a night, my sleep has been pretty good, which I am so grateful for!
I'm also so grateful that baby has been passing all tests with flying colors, and is super active, making nsts a breeze!
Keeping up with work has been a real struggle... I thought I was ready to wave the white flag in the first trimester, but now I'm really really done... I know the first two months of baby's life also lacks sleep, but I'm looking forward to not juggling work in the middle!
Heartburn is still evil, but I haven't vomited in a week, which is a record!!

Raves/Rants: it's always about too many appointments... But otherwise excited to meet our little one! S/he will be so loved by us!

Questions: car seat/stroller dilemma...I get so many recommendations, but most end in buying a stroller/snap n go equivalent for the first few months, and then getting another for after...I really really don't want to get two strollers... Anybody have recommendations? Will be in and out of car a lot but will also want to walk with baby
  • @ahrob135 I'll definitely make boundaries the panic thread this week!  I'm curious to see what advice people have because I feel like I'm going to be facing some of the same challenges.
  • EDD/Weeks + days: Dec 16/ 33w + 3 days

Baby is the size of a(n): celery bunch (I think)

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: Pink

Upcoming appointments: check up Nov 6

How are you feeling? Super anxious the past few days. My hormones must be in overdrive or something. I'm easily overwhelmed and super reactive. Perhaps it's all just getting very real now with such little time left. I'm doing my best to keep it together and my support people are awesome, so hopefully this will pass. I just want to enjoy the last few weeks.

Raves/Rants: Baby shower is this weekend. So I am looking forward to that. My sister's are putting it together for us so I know it will be great! It will be nice to see our friends and family.

Questions: anyone else feeling a little crazy right now? 😵‍💫
  • EDD/Weeks + days: 12/28 31+5

Baby is the size of a(n): cabbage

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💚

Upcoming appointments: Friday! A check in ultrasound just due to a slightly enlarged kidney. But not too worried, have been told it’s quite common.

How are you feeling? Already ready to have my body back 😭 major acid reflex and hip/pelvic pain while sleeping.

Raves/Rants: finally ordered all our diapers! We are going to try to cloth diaper 😳 I’m pretty excited for them to come in!

    Questions: no questions

@chelleylin after much debate… we went with the Chicco 30 keyfit. We forgives middle price range and excellent safety ratings… and we bought a second base
  • @chelleylin We did the Chicco keyfit too.

@nerakh246 I feel like I'm going crazy lol maybe it's 33 weeks? I saw my friends newborn tonight and had a legit panic attack after they left! Like OMG I'm about to have one of those again! My hormones have been crazy this week. I've been crying a lot and actually feeling a little depressed which isn't typical for me. Ugh. So ready for my body to get back to baseline!

  • EDD/Weeks + days: December 21 / 33 weeks tomorrow

Baby is the size of a(n): 2 ukuleles yesterday (I liked that one!)

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: pink

Upcoming appointments: Check-up yesterday, next one in 2 weeks. As my doctor refuses to prescribe anything/make any recommendations (she says I should go to the GP or google instead), the appointments are more or less useless. It's an NST plus cervix check each time. At least I know my cervix is still "unripe".

How are you feeling? Tired. Baby and reflux are keeping me up, plus I'm stressed about finishing my work on time. My blood pressure was only 80/60 at my appointment, which reflects how I feel.
Pubis symphysis pain has reached the point where I can't walk at the end of some days. Doctor is unconcerned as this will go away with no lasting effects post-birth. Great, but, what do I do for the next 6 weeks?!?

Raves/Rants: Not a rant per se, just feeling really down this week. Blah. Seems a lot of people are dealing with a lot of feelings this week. Here's hoping next week is a bit easier on all of us <3

  • @chelleylin We got a Maxi-Cosi travel system second hand for $100. It's very similar to what I had before: car seat, bassinet and sport seat, which all click into one frame. That worked really well and we used the sport seat part for 2 years, but my kids are literal giants, so most kids could use it longer ;)

  • Thanks @clt2pwm11it's nice to know I'm not alone. Being a FTM this app really helps to see we are going through similar experiences, and @dmcg17 is doing a great job keeping the community going! Really appreciate all you ladies right now!! ❤️
  • @nerakh246 Feeling a little crazy over here too!  I feel like I'm going into panic mode because my doctors all seem to think this little one is going to come early and my husband has a gut feeling that she's going to come on Thanksgiving.  We always host and are still planning on doing so this year as well (it also happens to fall on my husband's birthday this year) so he thinks it would just be a great story if I went into labor with everyone here. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I don't find that theory as amusing, especially since the house currently looks like a baby bomb went off after the shower this weekend and we're going to need to clean everything up before having a house full of people in 3 weeks.

Baby is the size of a(n): pineapple 🍍

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: GBS and ultrasound next Thursday to see if he’s head down

How are you feeling? I’m feeling pretty good besides the carpal tunnel. My energy is typically low in the afternoon but I rest when I can!!

Raves/Rants: I totally feel you guys on not feeling prepared. We had our shower last week and almost everything we need but it’s still such a mess and I have almost no energy to deal with all the stuff 😅 I also wanted to pull together some freezer meals so maybe I start doubling this week and maybe make some breakfast burritos and waffles. I also do not have anything packed for the hospital so I’m hoping he holds out. I’m a mix of calm and not calm 😂 it’s all good though

Questions: been preparing my oldest for when baby comes any other moms with littles have any suggestions on how to make him feel involved? I know he wants to get baby brother a teddy bear and I plan on getting him a gift, “from baby.” Maybe a big brother book too just curious to see what other moms have done ❤️

  • @dmcg17 oh boy! I would not find that amusing either. Just dealing with the stress of preparing for baby is stressful but now you may have less time and to throw in a family gathering!!! I know sometimes husband's try to "lighten the mood" with jokes, but they really have no idea how much we do that they don't even need to think about. You got this! Everything will work out. It may not be how you expect but once it's all said and done you will have your beautiful baby girl and be so proud you did it dispite the few curve balls. 💕

Baby is the size of a(n): Care Bear

    Team Green/Team Blue/Team Pink: 💙

Upcoming appointments: Regular checkup on Nov. 15th. I’ve started every 2 week appointments.

How are you feeling? Soooo big!! It is so hard to get comfortable and sleep at night. My hips hurt, my lower back aches, my legs cramp, and I’m constantly rolling over to switch sides and use the bathroom throughout the night. My baby also feels very low in my pelvis, which is a weird sensation haha.

Raves/Rants: I’m just so worried about getting everything done! I have so much to do in terms of washing, organizing and setting up his stuff. I need to pack my hospital bag, hang curtains, and order a few more things. I’m just so exhausted and drained after work (I’m a teacher), I don’t have the energy to do things during the week. And I feel that we always have plans on the weekend. I have a light week at work coming up next week and a long weekend and so, I’m going to focus my attention on getting all the baby stuff done.

Questions: Is anyone else getting nervous/scared about labor and delivery?
  • @foreverhughes4123 I hear you about getting things done! I feel like I accomplished a lot this weekend, but knowing there's just a few weeks left before her arrival is making me nervous. I was also a teacher for 7 years and could not imagine trying to get everything done and still teaching, so kudos to you!
  • @foreverhughes4123 I'm between two different mental states regarding labor and delivery. On the one hand, I'm relaxed and planning to do what I did with my first....but then I think and realize this labor might be completely different and need to have some kind of plan/"preferences" in place and then start to freak out. What I'm trying to do is familiarize myself with the different methods that might need to be used for pain relief, induction, etc- so I'm not completely blindsided when the OB recommends something. Then if there's something I researched and would prefer, bring that up. At some point you have to leave it to the professionals, but I know there are instances they can push something that's not necessary and it's important to speak up for yourself if you don't feel right about it.
  • Physically, I'm feeling excited about the journey but also dealing with some nagging back pain. On a positive note, we're busy getting the nursery ready, but the downside is I could definitely use more sleep these days.
