Re: Weekly Check-in w/o 10/29

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 12 / 7+5

    FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM

Baby is the size of a (an): jellybean

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: TBC

Upcoming Appointments: I was discharged from my RE last week, first appt at my regular OBGYN next Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Not too bad. The nausea has become totally manageable this last week, but I am still just soooooo tired. On Saturday I napped for 30 in the afternoon and still fell asleep on the couch at 8:30! But I wake up around 3:30 every morning and struggle to get back to sleep.

Rants/Raves: Pregnancy dreams are SO WILD. No wonder I’m so tired, my brain is working overtime when I’m sleeping.

Questions: When are you supposed to stop flying when you’re pregnant? Is it 3rd trimester?

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? We’ve been trying to get down to Florida to visit my SIL and her family and we’re hoping to go on February break. My kids have never been on a plane and I am super intimidated to travel that far with them!

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: changed to June 1st after our ultrasound so 9+2

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Grape

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green:
Green I think but leaving it up to my husband

Upcoming Appointments: 12 week app on November 16th

How are you feeling?: better this week, only feeling nauseous/crampy in the middle of the day instead of all day

Rants/Raves: it was so nice to see baby move and their heartbeat 🥰 but I am so over feeling gross!

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? I’d love to but I don’t think it will happen
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 29/5w+2d

FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM (two boys so far)

Baby is the size of a (an): Appleseed

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: MH says this one's a girl, and I had a dream this one's a boy. Excited to find out with NIPT/similar after 10 week appt.

Upcoming Appointments: first u/s 11/22, first appt with our provider 12/7.

How are you feeling?: Mostly good, very tired. My appetite is all but gone. Not much sounds worth the effort. Sometimes I feel really hungry, but if I load up my plate I can't finish it anyway. Snacks and flavor seems to be the name of the game, just enough to get a taste of whatever sounds good at the time.

Rants: 13 month old is working through teething, so he and I have been up (clearly tired but also restless) between 1am and 4am together for a few of the tougher days in the last week. I wish I could make it better for him. I also don't like the feeling that I should be able to keep him calm and quiet so everybody else can sleep. I know MH is just thankful that I'm taking care of the baby and doesn't put any pressure on keeping him from crying. It's just hard to get out of my own head. Silly brain.

Raves: Milkmaker's Iron Supplement Cookie Bites are delicious. They're also expensive, so I'll be making my own cookie bites this week. I looked up a couple recipes online and am excited to test them out.

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? We'll take a vacation somewhere warm around February 2024. Probably not Mexico like we were planning before... maybe Florida to stay in the country. We bring my little sister (college grad) with for an extra set of hands when we go on trips. It's so nice to have another person to entertain the kids while traveling!

@maggiemadeit Even the first half of third tri seems good to go. I haven't flown pregnant yet, so this will be a first for me. First tri/nausea could be a booger if you get motion sickness, non-issue for your February trip. There are lots of recommendations out there, but they seem pretty well in line with each other. They all say to check with your care provider if you're unsure.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 27, 5+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: 4th

Baby is the size of a (an): orange seed

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green:

Upcoming Appointments: our first appt is 11/7

How are you feeling?: the symptoms really kicked in this past week. Exhausted (I took 3 naps!), food aversions and nausea. It feels manageable so far, thankfully. Hoping my nausea doesn’t get as bad as it did with my last pregnancy.

Rants/Raves: I hate the feeling of being a starving but nothing sounds or tastes good. That’s how I feel most of the time now.

    Questions: none right now

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? In Feb, my husband and I are spending the weekend at this beautiful hotel/spa about 1.5 hrs away from us. He booked it for my last birthday. As for family trips, we usually go to Hawaii for spring break. I’ll be 29/30 weeks so not sure if we will want to travel that far. I did it at 33 weeks last time but given my age this time around, I think I’ll be more cautious. We’ll likely do a trip somewhere closer instead.

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 11 / 7 + 6

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Blueberry

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Still antsy to find out!

Upcoming Appointments: Going in for lab work, including NIPT, on 11/9

How are you feeling?: Really exhausted - and I've had some days of rough nausea the last week, but trying to do things to manage it like eat more snacks.

Rants/Raves: Just rants related to symptoms...sigh.

    Questions: None right now

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? We take lots of little family trips, but probably nothing formal - though getting away with just my husband before this baby comes does sound really nice...so maybe I will think about how we can make that happen!
  • @maggiemadeit I'm with you on the random wake ups around 3:30 and struggling to get back to sleep! In terms of when you can't fly - Generally it's around 36 weeks for domestic travel and earlier for international (still definitely 3rd trimester)

@maple1422 sorry your baby is teething - it can be so rough

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 6th / 8+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: Third Time Momma! (Have a 10 and a 9 year old…starting all over!)

Baby is the size of a (an): Raspberry

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Can’t wait to find out

Upcoming Appointments: 11/15. Had one sono at 6 weeks. Looking forward to seeing how much baby has changed in 4 weeks!

How are you feeling?: Tired!!!!! Bloated and tired!

Rants/Raves: Maternity clothes are huge on me but my everyday clothes are getting snug!   I will be living in leggings for the time being!

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? Yes!!! We are going to London in a few weeks. Can’t wait.

    FTM/STM/TTM+: third

Baby is the size of a (an): raspberry

Upcoming Appointments: I have a second ultrasound on 11/8.

How are you feeling?: I've been feeling awful the past few days. All day nausea + no energy.

Rants/Raves: Rant: I exercise regularly, usually barre classes 4-5x per week. it's been SO difficult to exercise recently. I'm fighting nausea and feeling much weaker than usual.

@jenEP Also starving and nothing sounds good.

Rave: My kids (ages 4 & 7) are so excited about Halloween tonight.

Questions: Maternity bra recs? I've outgrown all of my bras already.

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? My husband and I are talking about taking a long weekend trip in Jan or Feb.

  • @saltedcaramel518 Target's Auden nursing tanks and bras are comfy. I recently tried the Kindred Bravely pumping racerback. It has two sections to let down so you can nurse or pump. The pump section has a slot on each cup which would be very convenient for standard pumping flanges, but I used a wireless/wearable pump, so it just wasn't worth the extra piece of material to fold down. It can't go without mentioning that the slots line up with your nipples which was.... different.

These are the ones I recommend/lived in, tried and true:
I bought the black/nude set and the white/mauve set. MOST comfortable. I couldn't wear these after we got settled into nursing because my ladies outgrew them, but they were very comfortable right up until then. I will probably buy a larger set this time.

I have this one in nude and black. Easy go-to for normalish.

This one is good for racerback tops. Not the most comfortable, but can still nurse with support.

These are my go-to. Not sure what to wear? Just put on a tank top. Easy to layer, fits a bump (those don't go away right away), and oh so comfy.

  • @saltedcaramel518 I really understand. I normally work out 5-6 days a week and I’ve been lucky to get 3 workouts in this week and last. I went for a run last weekend and ended up throwing up twice in 3 miles! The struggle is real. Do what you can until you feel better, and give yourself lots of grace. Maybe we could start a weekly healthy habits thread to share the struggles and the wins?
  • @saltedcaramel518 The struggle to workout is real. I'm trying to change my mindset from I should workout to I should stay active - because I basically did nothing in the first trimester of my last pregnancy. So for example, rather than being like I can't run, I'm too tired and nauseous, I took that time to take a walk (as vigorous as I could manage ha).

I really like the bodily stage one bras as they are super comfy, but admittedly don't provide the best support. I had trouble with clogs when I was breastfeeding so need a more gentle bra immediately postpartum and this works well for me (and prefer bras I can wear during pregnancy and postpartum to save money). https://itsbodily.com/collections/maternity-bras (I've personally used the everything bra and love it, but have heard good things about the other ones here as well).

Someone who was recently pregnant also highly recommended these, but I haven't tried them myself yet: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W3LC38R?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzkarrielo-20&creativeASIN=B07W3LC38R&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.1941ONGG0F8K8&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 7w + 5d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

Baby is the size of a (an): blueberry

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: don’t know yet

Upcoming Appointments: ultrasound next week. I had one last week due to some spotting/cramping. Fetus looked normal, but heart rate was a bit low. They said it could be that they just could not detect every beat. So going back next week for a follow up ultrasound.

How are you feeling?: bloated! lots of food aversions and nausea. I’m down to eating baked potatoes, bagels, and other starchy foods. I was craving a breakfast burrito with potatoes, ham and cheese and it was AMAZING. Absolutely no beans, oily meats, eggs, or lentils right now. If I don’t eat something starchy every 2ish hours my nausea really ramps up.

Rants/Raves: breakfast burritos, potatoes, my husband - he’s been so helpful.

Questions: why am I still so bloated? Lol.

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes?

we live in a ski town, so probably not. We will just stay home and get into the mountains as much as possible.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 16, 7w2d

    FTM/STM/TTM+: second baby

Baby is the size of a (an): raspberry

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: I found out at 12-13 weeks with our first, couldn’t wait! I think we’ll be team green this time!

Upcoming Appointments: first on November 6, cannot wait

How are you feeling?: it’s been so rough the past few days, all day nausea, aversions, can’t keep stuff down. And I work in the OB world so trying all the tricks! Way worse than with my first, it’s been hard feeling useless. Hoping I can get it under control soon

    - we’d love a baby moon but it’ll most likely just be a night away kind of thing lol

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: June 14th / 7+4

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): Blueberry

(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green:TBD

    Upcoming Appointments: Nov 14

How are you feeling?: feeling more fatigued than usual. I had some nausea this last week too but it seems to have subsided.

Rants/Raves: We got to see our little peanut today! It was so wonderful to see their little heart flicker on the ultrasound.

Questions: Anybody dressing up for Halloween?

GTKY: Are you planning a babymoon/family trip before baby comes? We will probably spend a long weekend at the beach like we did with our first!
  • @jrose424 My daughter (14 months) is obsessed with dogs so we all dressed up as dogs - she was a corgi, I was a dalmatian, and my husband was...a chocolate lab? I also dressed my dog up as a human haha. What about you?
  • My nephew is also obsessed with corgis! It’s so funny. He’s quite the goofball.
  • @curlyandpreggo that’s so cute! My daughter was a bat for her first Halloween! Next year we will definitely do family costumes
  • EDD: 8W 2D so June 12th, got moved back about a week after the first ultrasound.

    I'm an FTM

Baby is the size of a raspberry

Feeling- bloated at night, it's usually better by morning, but I'm also having crazy dreams that wake me up just about every night.

Rants/Raves- morning sickness is getting more manageable, but my hair gets so greasy between washes now!

Questions- when did/are y'all sharing news with family?

GTKY- we haven't talked a baby moon, but I think my husband will be down for the idea!
  • @hrjackson7 I feel you on the oily hair, I hate it! We won’t be telling anyone for as long as I can possibly hide it. I’m a TTM and fairly thin so it may be obvious sooner than I’d like though!

    *TW-loss*

With my last pregnancy we told our parents and our 2 kids around 7/8 weeks. My parents told my whole extended family (without permission or my knowledge I might add!) and when I lost the baby at 12 weeks I was receiving cards of congratulations in the mail from family members I hadn’t even told. Brutal. Telling my kids that the baby died was one of the worst moments, but I don’t regret them knowing. They still ask for cupcakes on the baby’s birthday 2 years later and I like to honor what we lost together with them.
  • @hrjackson7 we’re planning on telling my parents and in-laws next week after my dr appt. I’ll be 8 weeks. We have a family trip planned for the first week of June with my ILs. We won’t be going now, so my MIL will likely want to reschedule. We’re trying to give her time to do that.

As far as telling everyone else? I don’t know, maybe around thanksgiving or the first week of December. I know allllll the comments/questions that come along with being pregnant, so o want to put those off for as long as possible.  :#

  • @hrjackson7 We have generally been pretty open with telling people. I've never experienced a loss, so perhaps that would change my viewpoint, but I've always been of the mind that I want to be open about it because 1) because people generally wait to tell people, loss doesn't get discussed as much, which I think contributes to people feeling alone when they do experience it, and 2) if I ever did have a loss I would want to be able to talk to the people I'm close with about it. That said I completely understand why people don't feel the same. We told my mom yesterday (8 weeks and 5 days) and will tell MH's family when we see them on Friday/Saturday (9 weeks 3/4 days) - I actually would have told immediately family sooner, but had opportunities to tell everyone in person so waited for that. I did ask my mom not to share it with extended family until I'm 12 weeks though. I have also told a number of close friends already (mostly after I got my first ultrasound).
