  • We have had names picked out since before we were even TTC and as soon as we found out we were having a girl, we were kinda both just like, "Still good?" 😜 We are going with just a name we both really like as the first name and my husband's grandmother's name as her middle name.  He wants to keep it secret until we have her though, so the only person I've told so far is the newborn photographer we hired because she said she has little props and things we can use if we want.  Our family and friends have been bugging us like crazy for us to tell them, so I have all of her customized stuff hidden in our house, haha.

I've taught for ten years, so there's 1000 names I cannot use.  Our oldest has a big boy resume name, but he goes by a nickname. Similarly, this baby will have a "big boy name" (Robert) but we will call him Robbie. The two names sound great together!

If it had been a girl, she was going to be Hollyn, nickname Holly.

I will eta that we've told everyone the name and we've been very firm: this is the name. People are less inclined to give their opinions if they know you are 100 percent sure ha ha ha.

  • We haven't really confirmed the name yet. But we were throwing around more names a month ago than we are now. We have a couple names in the running and have kinda stopped looking, so it will likely be one of those lol. I definitely want to use my husband grandmothers name as the middle name, it will go well with either of the names we have potentially settled on. I'm with your husband @dmcg17 I don't want to share it with friends and family until she is here, because I don't want others opinions. It's difficult enough to pick a name without all the outside noise!
  • Oh boy...
We don't know the gender yet, which means all our conversations are hypothetical.
For a girl, we want to name after my husband's and my grandmothers, which would be Jenna Elisabeth, Jenny :)
But we're not sure about the Elisabeth part...
And we're also pretty sure we're having a boy (I don't know why, but we can't imagine it's a girl!)
And the boy name is proving way harder...
We keep mashing names together and it doesn't feel right, we were set on a name but now it feels too plain... So we're gonna wait till the baby's born and hope it comes to us then!!
  • Like @ahrob135 we are from different cultures, and I wanted it to be pronounced the same in both languages (and accepted by both cultures), which really limits the options.
It was a battle the first two times, so this time we didn't even discuss until like 20 weeks and didn'tshare until we'd decided. We ended up choosing a name we'd both liked for #1 (who ended up being a boy). The middle name was hard because I wanted to name her after myself, but that wouldn't be pronounced the same in both languages. So we went with a winter name for the middle name. It's ultimately my 3rd choice, but it's DONE, so I'm happy about that!
Her name is Annika Lucia, but I still call her baby ;)

  • Funny enough when my husband was eager about having another baby and I wasn’t quite there yet we were in church and a sermon on Ezra came up and we just knew. I’ve been calling him Ezra this whole pregnancy once I found out he was a boy 😁
  • @clt2pwm11 I hear you on the name thing with being a teacher! I taught for 7 years, plus all the student teaching, camp counseling, etc. since I was in high school and there are SO many names that I'm like, "Nope!" 😂. Luckily I have never had a student with the girl name we chose (honestly, I don't know if I've ever even met anyone with the name and it's not some crazy, outrageous name or anything).

@nerakh246 Yeah...people keep trying to guess it and we're just like, "Nope, not telling."  It's funny though because if we were having a boy, everyone already knows the first name we'd use because my husband is the third Thomas (they all have different middle names though) and he wants to keep that tradition going.  Then my step-dad (but I always just say dad) is Manuel the 4th I believe...so we'd have Thomas Manuel for a boy.
  • We have decided to name our daughter Rylei Leighton. My oldest name is Paityn Patrice she going to be 13 years old in a few months. We wanted to give baby girl a unisex name just like her big sister but spelled with uniqueness. And my oldest girl has her grandmothers name as her middle name so Rylei will have her grandfather’s name as her middle name.
  • We have a first name picked for our son, but are struggling with a middle name.
Our first son has a unique name that my mother in law came up with. It's half of each of mine and my husband's names with my maiden name as his middle name. Kydan Everett(pronounced KY-dun) husband is KYle, I'm JorDAN. However, it gets mispronounced as Kayden all the time. Before we even got pregnant with #2, family members recommended the same concept with the name Jole, but I don't want his name misspelled all his life, so we decided to do the traditional Joel and at least it still has letters from our names. There's no family name left we can think of or like for the middle name, so it feels weird choosing one with no family significance. So far I like Alexander, my husband likes Elijah, but I can't tell if I like how Joel Elijah sounds together.

  • We don’t know the sex of the baby so we are still tossing ideas around but if it’s a girl we are thinking Shalane Olivia (Shalane Flanagan is my ultimate athlete 😅) plus I just love the name. For a boy Holland Miles (my husband and I have some fun history with the Netherlands!) nothing in stone but that’s where we are at right now
