Baby is the size of a (an): 🍌🍌

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙💙

Upcoming Appointments: MW appt tomorrow and anatomy scan on Thursday!!

How are you feeling?: Good! Less tired. But I really overdid it this weekend and was hobbling around like an old man by the end of the day.

Rants/Raves: I took my kids to the pumpkin patch and shopping on Friday, then we did DD's 3rd birthday party on Saturday, and yesterday we had a big project plus company for dinner. I was so exhausted and my back hurt so bad by the end of each day. Everything went great, but it was definitely too much 🤪

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don't really have one?

    How are you feeling?: terrible

Rants/Raves: this month has been a doozy. My DD got sick first with terrible cough, then somehow caught a bug. Ive been sick all month and ended up in the ER last night due to dehydration and I still can’t seem to keep anything down.. and I hate the healthcare here in Texas. I miss my FL ob so much.
Rave though, baby is 8oz! Which means Im slightly terrified of how big he’ll be when I deliver lol

    Upcoming Appointments: 11/10

    How are you feeling?: Good!

Rants/Raves: I got a burst of energy yesterday and got so many things done. It is really nice to not have a gigantic mess in my house at all times (for a few days). My back was very sore at the end but it was worth it.

Questions: I randomly got an answer to something I have always been annoyed about, so I will share it in case anyone else wondered. The random fruit/vegetables the pregnancy apps give as the baby's size is sometimes an example of the baby's length, and sometimes the baby's girth. So that's why they go back and forth sometimes of thing that seem smaller than the week before.

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? I want to do one of the long trails from Mexico to Canada, probably the CDT, in one shot. At this point, probably when I retire, but I wish I had been less goal oriented when I was in my 20s and done it then.  :D

How are you feeling?: I’m having some decent periods where I feel pretty good, but then still get hit with waves of intense fatigue

Rants/Raves: we had a good fetal echo report! She still plans to keep a close eye on us, but it’s starting to feel like we have a chance everything might actually be ok.

Rants/Raves: pretty sure I have a garlic intolerance or allergy. Couldn’t handle it while pregnant/postpartum with my last 2, then had garlic bread last night and had to wake up to throw up. Ugh. MWs have told me that’s not really a thing, but I’m 3 for 3 now…

Baby is the size of a (an): Guinea Pig

Upcoming Appointments: 28wk apt on 12/4 with 3hr glucose test

How are you feeling?: Pretty good! While my energy has come back somewhat, I feel like they've overhyped the 2nd trimester energy boost. I'm usually a zombie by 2pm still.

Rants/Raves: Had my 22wk apt yesterday! Baby boy is doing well, we went over the anatomy scan and he was 11oz at 20weeks. My placenta is anterior, which I expected since I haven't felt him a whole lot yet, but every day I think I feel him more! I was also pleased to find out they will let me skip the 1hr glucose test since I failed hour 1 in my early glucose testing both times. I'll also get to finally see a delivering doctor at my next apt, I've only seen the NPs who don't deliver up until now.

Questions: The last 2 times my husband and I have had sex, I've had a burning stinging sensation in my vagina for about 10 minutes after. No pain during, we always use lube, haven't done/used anything new and no other symptoms like discharge or odor. The NP thinks baby may just be laying on a nerve and isn't concerned since the pain comes on after sex, doesn't last long, and I don't have any other symptoms. I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if it's gone away for them, or continued until the end of their pregnancy.

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? Europe! I've been to 3 continents but not Europe yet, so it is definitely next.
  • @alexxajams - I've been playing with the fetal growth chart averages for fun, so I did yours! Right now your baby is measuring in btw 50&75 percentiles for his gestational age. If he stays in that percentile, he should be in between 7.9 and 8.5lbs! Of course this is all just guesstimation, but I hope that helps you from being too scared about him being huge :)

@halfanewt- I know garlic can trigger acid reflux, maybe you're having an intense reflux reaction that makes you throw up?

Baby is the size of a (an): Cauliflower or a TI-89 calculator, haha

    Team blue/pink/green: Girl

Upcoming Appointments: Next Tuesday monthly. I also need to do my 1 hour glucose test in the next few weeks

How are you feeling?: Also pretty good. I'm been having horrendous abdominal discomfort in the evening, which I think is actually due to eating apples (!), so going to try cutting raw ones out for a week or so. RLP still there, and now I'm getting regular evening reflux, yay.

Rants/Raves: Struggling with names right now. We've made a long list and then each ranked to create a short list. But as I've tried out some of the names I like, they just don't feel right. Plus my favourite names generally don't coincide with my husband's :/ PLUS, we want to ensure there is some connection to his family names, as we're giving baby my last name. (e.g. naming her after his late grandmother Sally, but again it just didn't feel right as a first name). Didn't realise it would be so difficult!

My rave (and a bit of a rant) is she is sooo active, and I think I've felt hiccups for the first time. That said, it does get uncomfortable always being jabbed.

    Questions: None at the moment

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? I used to want to walk one of the really long through-trailed (like @dinomeetsjedi, but perhaps PCT or the whole of NZ). But there are also so many places in the world I'd still love to visit and hike or bike around, that I've been doubting that earlier ambition...

  • @alexxajams I hope you are feeling better!

@dinomeetsjedi I hear you! There are so many more adventures I should have taken when I was young instead of worrying about getting my career established. Particularly since I am not even practicing law!

@ceclarlinetlo Great news on your results!

@halfanewt Oh the transcontinental railroad is a good answer!

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan this morning

How are you feeling?: Not so good. Idk if it is still lingering symptoms or a bug.

Rants/Raves:  Rave for seeing my little one on the screen today. It is still amazing to me their is a whole person in there!

    Questions:

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list?  I would love to do more traveling in general. At the same time I am sort of living my bucket list. Raising cattle and homeschooling my children in a beautiful area where we are outside everyday is pretty much my dream.

Baby is the size of a: banana

    Team: PINK!

Upcoming appointments: Nov 16, they're doing a follow up ultrasound since baby girl didn't give them a good pic of her spine at the anatomy scan on Friday, but everything else looked perfect!

How are you feeling?: overall good! Still getting hit with tiredness but no other complaints.

Rant: hubs and I are freaking out about a bedroom for baby, well, lack thereof. We have 3 BR, so he and I are in one, my stepdaughter in one, and stepson in one. Sooo.. no room left for baby. Love my husband but he is a worrier and catastrophizer and not a problem solver so joining forces and coming up with a solution has been hugely challenging. I hate our house now because it really is spacious but the bedrooms are TINY. Never bothered me before but we never planned to have a baby (which is fine, I know she is a blessing!) so now I am bothered. Ugh. I want badly to enjoy this 2nd TM while I feel good physically, but it has been difficult.

Questions: if anyone has similar experience with room shortage and figured out way to overcome or work with it?

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? Thought I checked everything off but now that I'm carrying this amazing whole other little life around in my body (crazy!!!) I think this whole experience and being a biological mom has been a last minute addition to the list!

  • @abby1228, I live in large house with a weird bedroom situation. We have had to be creative for all the kids. DS was in our room for 2 years and this LO will be as well. I didn't mind it at all.

Is there space in your room for a crib? Maybe a mini crib or a side car as an alternative? I don't think I am going to have a changing table/dresser this time so I am thinking a basket of diapers and a changing pad that I slide in and out from under the crib and change him on the floor to save space.

How old are your SD and SS?
  • @abby1228 we're in a 2-bedroom apartment, but the second bedroom is pretty much full-on office since we work from home a lot. We got a pack n play with a bassinet and change table attachments that will fit in the corner of our room. It'll be cozy, but it will also be easier to hear her wake up (we didn't opt for a monitor) and less effort than leaving our room. The other option we toyed with was putting the crib just outside our room in the living space, but I think that'll be our back-up. @farm_mama we also have friends who are still sharing their room with their 2.5 year old daughter...but I think they're feeling more motivated to make space for her in the office now!

How are you feeling?:pretty good energy wise. Does anyone else have carpal tunnel symptoms while pregnant? My hands are constantly tingly/numb and it’s so annoying 😐

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? I don’t really have one but I always want to
travel more, especially with the kids.
  • @ceclarlinetlo yay for good news!! What a relief

@cioccolata16 I’m struggling so hard with a name too. It’s stressing me out to not have a name for her. I hope something feels right to you soon!

@aby1228 we were in a 900 sq ft house with tiny bedrooms when DS2 was born. He was in with my husband and I for for first year before moving in with brother part time. He still ended up coming into our room half way through the night until he was 3. We have the space for a nursery in this house but I expect DD to be in with us until at least a year. I find it easier for night feeding.
  • @farm_mama that's helpful to know you kept DS in your room for 2 years. We can definitely fit a bassinet, maybe a mini crib? If we can fit a mini crib we'll def make it work for 2 years. SS is 18 in Dec and SD is 15. Could possibly have baby and SD share a room couple years down the road, would be tight but could work... we're forgoing changing table and I like your basket of diapers idea. Will likely share my dresser with her to save space as well. Thank you!

@cioccolata16 we're thinking about using common living space for "nursery" setup too. DH isn't a huge fan but depending what sort of space we're working with in our bedroom after we measure for bassinet/crib, we may not have other options. We are WFH a lot too so would be nice to have her right there.

@kmw611 I'm thinking the same with night feeding, would be super nice (I think? Lol) to have her right next to my bed. And it's reassuring to hear that you kept DS2 in your room for a year. Guess that was one of my questions/concerns, how long do they sleep in same room, so that's good to know.

Thank you all so much for feedback. Being a surprise FTM things like this are keeping me up at night 😥 but hearing from you all and your experiences and suggestions means more than you know! 🩷

Baby is the size of a (an): weighs as much as a can of soda

    Team blue/pink/green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: repeat US on Nov 1st to get the last two views of baby’s heart, home birth midwife again on Nov 22nd

How are you feeling?: A mixed bag. Physically doing really well other than some SI joint pain I have dealt with every pregnancy so far. But emotionally struggling. Some heavy things happening in DHs family right now and as hard as I am trying to be a strong support for him it’s killing me because it’s all people I love immensely too 💔 had a breakdown at my midwife’s this week and got out a good cry about it all.

Rants/Raves: Raving on myself for scheduling AND going to a dentist appt I have been putting off for years ⭐️ gold star for me. Rant for yet another school-borne illness and feeling like this will never end

    Questions:

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? Ooh this is a good one. Little thing- go on a hot air balloon ride. Big thing- hike Patagonia.
  • @hedgepig I feel you on over doing it. You dont realize it until it’s too late. Sounds like a fun weekend though!

@alexxajams we are stuck in an illness cycle here too. The worst.

@dinomeetsjedi that makes sense about the fruit/veggie comparisons. I also though maybe sometimes weight was involved?? But yeah- they’re all over the place lol

@ceclarlinetlo so glad you got good news 🙌🏼

@halfanewt the things that happen to us while pregnant 🤷🏼‍♀️ and why garlic?! I also have mostly travel related bucket list items. So much to see!

@cmill828 happy you had a good US report! And I responded to your question on the symptoms thread

@cioccolata16 names are SO hard. We’re struggling too. But not putting much pressure on us figuring it out. I feel like we still have so much time.

@farm_mama hoping you start feeling better soon! And your every day life definitely sounds like a dream to me ❤️ a good reminder to be grateful for things we do have

@aby1228 we bed-share/room-share with both of our kids and will do the same with this baby. We have a very small 2BR house and no plans to move any time soon. I think it would be safe to plan for baby to room share with you for a while giving you time to figure it out. Maybe a bassinet in the beginning and then would a mini crib fit in your room? I have also seen people clean out a closet to use for the crib. There are definitely ways to make it work. I can absolutely see why you’d be stressed thinking about it though. It does feel like such a big consideration.

@kmw611 haven’t had carpal tunnel, but know it’s common in pregnancy. Sounds really annoying, im sorry!

  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 3/1 so 22 weeks today

    FTM/STM/TTM+:  FTM

Baby is the size of a (an):  banana

    Team blue/pink/green:  pink

Upcoming Appointments:  November 1st for anatomy scan #2 since last time everything looked fine but they couldn’t get her to move to see her spine like they wanted to.

How are you feeling?: Everyday is different! It’s getting harder and harder to sleep well/get comfortable at night. Lots of digestion issues and I get little migraines now (which I never did before). My appetite is definitely back!

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: What's something on your bucket list? To go to every Spanish speaking country (10 down, 11 to go!)
  • @dinomeetsjedi Ugh, my back is hating the house cleaning too 😒 I love those bursts of energy though!

@ceclarlinetlo What a relief to have a good echo! Congrats!

@halfanewt That sucks about the garlic intolerance! I still have a garlic aversion, but that sounds way worse 😕

@cmill828 I had an anterior placenta with my first too - hopefully you start feeling more soon! As for the sex thing - I haven't had the burning sensation, but in my experience sex while pregnant can be a pretty strange and wild ride. Lots of new/different sensations. I'm always waaayyyy more sensitive and need more lube than at other times.

@cioccolata16 There's a name thread on here - feel free to hit us with some ideas! We'd love to generate some suggestions 💜

@aby1228 I feel you on the small house - we are in a small cabin with small, irregularly shaped rooms. My bedroom is tiny and at the top of steep treacherous stairs with no door, so I have never wanted to have a baby up there. The kids share 1 small bedroom. We do have a loft, accessible by a ladder, that DS will move into when he's older, but we're  ot quite there yet. Sooooo, when I get too big to deal with the stairs in the middle of the night I will move my bed down into our living/dining room, and when the babies come they will live there with me for the first 6 months or so. It's weird having my bedroom in a central living space, but also kinda fun. It's cramped, but also we aren't likely to have a lot of guests, so 🤷🏻‍♀️ We are planning a remodel this spring that would tear out my existing br and replace it with something more useful and less dangerous, so after that the babies and I would live in there for the indefinite near future. I also have friends who have a whole family of 5 (2 parents, a 7 year old, a 3 year old and 2 year old) in 1 bedroom and are totally happy with it!

@kmw611 I haven't had carpet tunnel, but my sister did. She had braces she wore on her hands that seemed to help? I think it was related to a pinched nerve caused by how the baby was laying or something like that? It got pretty bad, but resolved after he was born.

@night_nurse Sorry to hear things are heavy right now 💓 I hope it gets better soon 🙏
