Rants/Raves: still waiting for morning sickness to hit. Normally I get slammed by now with nausea. I'm grateful to be able to function normally, but also a little anxious that I don't have my standard symptoms.
Questions:
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? I haven't been watching to much recently... maybe James May: Oh Cool. If you like British humour, and cooking shows, it's a fun show to watch!
Upcoming Appointments: Viability scan on 10/27 with my RE
How are you feeling?: I had only had mild symptoms until yesterday, but I spent 20 minutes dry heaving into a trash can this morning (thank goodness this was pre-breakfast) so seems like things are progressing!
Rants/Raves: Morning sickness is a PITA, but also oh so reassuring.
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? We're almost done with The Bear, and it's been pretty good. It takes us forever to watch any series becuase there is always a baseball/basketball/football game on!
Baby is the size of a (an): Jelly Belly jelly bean
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Don't know yet, but definitely finding out
Upcoming Appointments: US currently scheduled for 10/23
How are you feeling?: TIRED. Also having some back pain and some nausea off and on. The nausea is pretty minimal, so I shouldn't complain too much, but it's still no fun. The biggest thing I hate is that I LOVE food and food just doesn't sound good - like choosing what to eat is impossible.
Rants/Raves: Rant - I feel like a bad mom. I've been so tired I've been giving my daughter a ton of Little Spoon pre-prepared meals rather than cooking. I think they are fairly healthy, but I just feel like I should be doing better. It's not even the cooking itself (though it's that too), but all the thought that goes into figuring out what to make and getting the right groceries, etc. Rant and Rave combined - I'm still BFing my daughter, but very randomly decided to stop pumping because I just couldn't do it with how tired I am. I lost all patience for it. So I will still nurse her probably twice a day for now, but won't send bottles to school and such. On one hand I'm SO happy to be done with pumping, but on the other, I feel kind of guilty (especially given the suddenness of my decision).
Questions: None right now
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? Just finished season 3 of Only Murders in the Building, which I loved.
@maggiemadeit I really liked season 1 of the Bear, but haven't gotten myself to watch season 2 yet.
@kbru88 fingers crossed for you that for whatever reason you don't get morning sickness this time (but also that you get other things to reassure you soon!)
EDD / Weeks + Days: Almost 6 weeks along, I think. Due date around June 11th.
FTM/STM/TTM+: Two previous babies, my youngest is almost 5!
Baby is the size of a (an): orange seed, supposedly
Upcoming Appointments: Not until the beginning of November and ultrasound is at 10 weeks for me. 😢
How are you feeling?: Very tired today. Bloated. RLP already started at times. Have low back pain, but I also do when not pregnant so that’s not unusual.
Waves of nausea but it never seems to last more than like 30 minutes, especially if I have a snack.
Rants/Raves: Had a nice weekend without kids around and was hiking (nothing too strenuous) and enjoying the fall foliage. Gonna have a hard transition day tomorrow back to work!
Questions:
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? Difficult, but… I am still obsessed with The Great British Baking show and I just caught up last night on Netflix. It gives me sweets cravings every time, though!
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Green! 💚
Upcoming Appointments: bloodwork on Thursday and 8 week ultrasound on October 27th
How are you feeling?: pretty good! I also have some minimal nausea which I can’t complain too much about but it makes most foods seem unappetizing, which makes me super hungry and more nauseous and it is a vicious circle! I’ve also been short of breath again this pregnancy which is annoying
Rants/Raves: my sons first birthday party was this past weekend and it was amazing! But he had decided to start waking up multiple times at night again which is not amazing haha
Questions: I forgot to ask at my initial appointment but when do I book my next appointment? Around 12 weeks?? I can’t remember
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? I have been really into watching the Below Decks, kind of a guilty pleasure haha
@littlemarshmallow Yep, around 12 weeks! the schedule I got said 8-10 weeks (first ultrasound) and then 11-13 weeks for another ultrasound. The only thing I'd caveat that with is if you are getting NIPT, you can get that done after 9 weeks (I think it's usually done around 10 weeks) - so my little schedule says if my first ultrasound is before 9 weeks, I have to come back for a lab visit for blood work. Clearly every provider may be different though!
Upcoming Appointments: first ultrasound is Wednesday (9/18) but not expecting to see much until my next ultrasound on 9/25
How are you feeling?: So tired. I am tired immediately after waking up and it never seems to stop. I am feeling a little nauseas but mainly all food just sounds horrible.
Rants/Raves: since all food sounds horrible to me, I have not been eating as much as I probably should. I have already lost a little weight so am a little worried about that.
Questions:
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? I’ve been watching outlander recently and have really liked it (although it can be pretty intense)
@saltedcaramel518 we were team green with our first and it was amazing. My husband really wanted to find out but he was so happy that we kept it a surprise. How many surprises in life are happy either way?? I was extra surprised because I was convinced we were having a girl and baby turned out to be a boy. This time I am leaving it up to my husband and I think he wants it to be a surprise again
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: don’t know yet
Upcoming Appointments: first scan October 27
How are you feeling?: honestly mostly fine, which I try to not get anxiety over. My boobs are super sore, and I’m bloated. I still get those tiny little cramps, and I’m more burpy for sure. But besides getting the ick thinking about certain things, I don’t really have nausea or sickness. This is my first pregnancy, so hard to know what to expect.
I’ve also experienced some spotting, I got it checked out and everything looked good besides a yeast infection but doc said everything else looked good.
Rants/Raves: Rant: Definitely the spotting. It’s pretty unnerving.
Raves: My husband and I are religious, so we pray every night for our little sweet pea. It brings me some peace before bed to pray for baby.
Questions: none now!
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? My husband and I watched the Netflix docu series on Juul recently. It was very interesting. We aren’t smokers at all, but seeing the rise and fall and the parallels were interesting!
@poppy624 spotting is always unnerving and it drives me a bit crazy how Drs don’t seem to care much about it. I guess it may be normal for them but it’s scary for us. Hope it’s all normal stuff.
My husband and I just finished the Juul documentary and I agree it was really interesting even as a nonsmoker
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: happy either way
Upcoming Appointments: 10/31 🎃
How are you feeling?: I have some waves of fatigue and some cramping.
Rants/Raves: My husband has been really supportive and excited. Sometimes it’s hard for me to share that excitement, because I’ve had some spotting last week. I really thought I was going to miscarry (due to experience of previous loss). My HCG levels are doubling though. My ob brought me in for an ultrasound yesterday and we didn’t see anything besides a gestational sac. So we’re going to a follow-up in two weeks. 🙏
Questions: not at the moment
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? My SIL and I just binged Yellowjackets. Love Juliette Lewis and Christina Ricci.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Excited for either tho bracing myself due to Gemini sun sign. Love the idea of an energetic child even if I’ll never sleep again.
Upcoming Appointments: My first will be Nov 20 - at 10 weeks (!) due to wanting prenatal screening tests. It makes me nervy having to wait so long before my first ultrasound but a 30 min phone convo with the midwife assured me that tho being medically “geriatric” (I’m 38 yo), having naturally conceived within 4 months of trying and having no recent health issues plus doing a 5 month cleanse before conception, we are doing fine.
How are you feeling?: So curvy & physically sluggish! Does anyone else feel like their hormones added an immediate extra layer to hips, thighs and backside so that you’re already browsing maternity pants!? With today’s bloat I look like I’m already in my second trimester…Fortunately no morning sickness or nausea. I’ve been following Karen Hurd’s “Bean Protocol” for two years and was really disciplined the last 5 months, it claims to help with pregnancy symptoms (and other health benefits). I’m hoping to continue reporting the same.
Rants/Raves: It’s been a rollercoaster to reach this point of being actually pregnant as my partner (48 yo) and I have been together for 15 years and it wasn’t until this past year that we restarted the conversation about having children (it was a hard nope for both of us from the beginning to the point that our families have stopped asking about it many years ago and will be shocked by this news). I liken it to a reversed mid-life crisis…we’ve already lived many lives, explored the world outside, and done/accomplish pretty much whatever we’ve wanted to do…except having children. After we decided that we do in fact want to be parents together, we have fully recommitted to our relationship and resolved to bring our lovechild earthside. It’s been an incredible life change (already)…truly was a “conscious conception.” I’ve gotten myself into good physical/mental prep (daily meditation, yoga, walks, clean eating) because we’ll be older parents and trying to outpace the negging we may receive. I already get the “you don’t look that old” and not looking forward to comments about my pregnancy at my age.
Questions: Anyone else have water-birth experience or not planning for a hospital birth? I’m planning for a water-birth at a birthing center. Grateful that my insurance covers either option.
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently?
Good Omens was really well done and especially how true they were to Neil Gaiman’s humor.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: we will find out as soon as we can
Upcoming Appointments: first appointment is 11/7, which feels so far away
How are you feeling?: pretty good so far! Lots of bloating and even some ligament “pain” but nothing too uncomfortable. Also a little moody.
Rants/Raves: I’m feeling anxious about people finding out. Having 4 kids isn’t the norm where we live or amongst our friends, most of whom are done having kids. I love my MIL and she’s generally very supportive of us, but I am worried about her response. Rave: I just feel very grateful.
Questions: Any other AMA moms hoping an induction at 39 or 40 weeks? I don’t want to go over my due that this time around.
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently? currently watching suits, which is pretty good.
(Only If you know already!) Team blue/pink/green: Not sure yet but I’ve had multiple dreams it’s another boy!
Upcoming Appointments: First ultrasound 10/30.
How are you feeling?: This week was rough with nausea, I did not experience this with my first! I also fell asleep by 8:30 every night. Once I get some protein in I feel a lot better but it’s sooo hard to want to eat right now.
Rants/Raves:
Questions: Anyone else feeling mom/wife guilt with not being able to give 100% right now? Makes me sad and just hoping I feel better soon.
GTKY - What is the best TV show you've watched recently?
We’ve also been watching Suits and are loving it. We watched Long Shot over the weekend (Seth Rogan & Charlize) and it was really cute & funny. I somehow found a way to cry, so emotional right now lol!
Re: Weekly Check-in w/o 10/15
@kbru88 fingers crossed for you that for whatever reason you don't get morning sickness this time (but also that you get other things to reassure you soon!)
Green! 💚
I have been really into watching the Below Decks, kind of a guilty pleasure haha
I just started fall of the house of usher on Netflix and really like it so far
Rave: I told my closest friend that I'm expecting, and she had the best reaction. She's so excited for us.
DS1: May 2016
DS2: Jan 2019
Baby #3 EDD: 6/18/24
Weeks + Days: about 6 weeks 3days
My husband and I just finished the Juul documentary and I agree it was really interesting even as a nonsmoker
EDD / Weeks + Days: June 14 / 5w + 4d
FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM
