  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 23wk 5days, Feb 7th

    FTM/STM/TTM+: stm

Baby is the size of a (an): carrot

    Team blue/pink/green: blue! ❤️❤️

Upcoming Appointments: 24wk appt on weds

How are you feeling?: good just tired all the time

Rants/Raves: uhm. I feel like I might have popped finally and look less fat and more pregnant 😊

Questions: how do you know what kind of pacifiers to get? Or do you skip them? My son never used one ever and he's not a thumb/finger sucker which is nice but I'm trying to be prepared since it seems easier to ween from a pacifier than a thumb.

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? Trick question, I love a variety of vacations. I don't think one is my favorite. We stayed with family right on the beach at OBX which I loved - relaxing but hanging out with family on the beach. Our honeymoon was awesome we went to the Black Hills and did activities and hikes and stuff there. I love amusement parks and zoos so going somewhere and having a busy time with attractions can be fun. Or like my study abroad when I got to go somewhere foreign and spend time relaxing and enjoying the culture. So I think ideal would be one in which I can afford to do all the things at that particular location haha

Baby is the size of a (an): mango 🥭 🥭

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙💙

Upcoming Appointments: nothing this week, but 2 next week, including anatomy scan!

How are you feeling?: surprising good

Rants/Raves: Why is everything so busy?

Questions: My mom wants to throw a sprinkle for me and I am on the fence. I mean, in most ways we don't need anything, but because it's twins, we kinda do? And also we have a ton of mom friends who I didn't know when I had my first, so maybe they would want to come? I just don't want to seem greedy. And the timing will be really hard because it's either in the really busy period before Christmas or in early January which might be a little too late? If you had a mom friend with older kids who was having twins, would you think it's appropriate to have a sprinkle?

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? Uh, going somewhere childproofed? Honestly I just want to go on a vacation where I have enough money to just do whatever I want rather than always pinching pennies. Instead I just wind up staying home 🤷🏻‍♀️

Baby is the size of a (an): corn on the cob

    Team blue/pink/green: blue!

Upcoming Appointments: MFM fetal echocardiogram on Thursday, regular OB check next Monday

How are you feeling?: my nausea is pretty much all gone 🎉 I still have bouts of fatigue that are really rough but I have some decent amount of energy occasionally too.

Rants/Raves: I can FINALLY feel the baby! Took until 22 weeks 👎

    Questions: none for me

@spartancat - I buy one of a handful of different shapes. My oldest really liked Nuks. My second preferred Tommee Tippee closer to nature.

@hedgepig I think a sprinkle is fine, but if you are uneasy about it, just call it a diaper shower and anyone who wants to get something in addition will and anyone who doesn’t won’t feel pressured. I would only give out a registry to people who specifically ask for one.

    GTKY: What's your ideal vacation?

When not pregnant some beautiful hiking trails, a comfortable Bed and Breakfast room with a really deep bath tub within walking distance to good restaurants with a variety of cuisines.

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments:  Midwife this week, anatomy scan next week
How are you feeling?:  Excited to be approaching half way!
Rants/Raves:  My H took some time out of his insane schedule to help me with a few things that really needed done. I am feeling really greatful because I know he really didn't have time.
Questions: Are you all getting comments yet? No one has said anything to me. Idk if people have just gotten more polite about these things or I just look like I eat too much!
    GTKY: What's your ideal vacation?
Can I pick two? I would love to take a long relaxed extended field trip to Yellowstone with the kids and really explore the science with them without cost being a factor! I would also really like to take a relaxed vacation somewhere cool and cabin like with delicious food I didn't cook and no responsibilities with just my spouse.
  • Questions: how do you know what kind of pacifiers to get? Or do you skip them? My son never used one ever and he's not a thumb/finger sucker which is nice but I'm trying to be prepared since it seems easier to ween from a pacifier than a thumb.
After three babies that didn't take a pacifier and wanted to nurse 24/7 I probably won't bother! Mine just did not like them at all.
  • @hedgepig I wouldn't think twice about someone I knew having a sprinkle in your shoes. I personally don't really like babyshowers or sprinkles much, but I wouldn't think anything about someone else having one.

How are you feeling?: was feeling better, now today I feel horrible. Gotta stop jinxing myself by thinking I’m over the worst of the nausea…
Rants/Raves: I’m in the awkward middle phase where my normal shirts don’t fit, but maternity is too big. Nothing fits. Argh.
GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? I just like vacations! But, somewhere new that has relaxing and adventure options. And good food.

Baby is the size of a (an): dollar bill

    Team blue/pink/green: pink

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan in 2 weeks

How are you feeling?: good. I’m finally feeling some movement randomly and that is helping so much with anxiety

Rants/Raves: raves for my SILs. Both had daughters in the last year and are now done having kids so are handing down all the baby girl things. This week a momcozy maternity pillow was brought over by one SIL when I mentioned considering getting something to help sleep more comfortably and the other SIL dropped off her Doona because 9mo niece just outgrew it. An infant seat and some girl clothes were basically all I needed before DD arrives.

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? Oh so many things😂 I would love to do a month+ US road-trip to visit all the places DS1 and I have covered in school. He’s been keeping a list of someday places to visit. I would also love to go back to Europe with my family, again DS1 has a list of places we’ve learned about he wants to see and it blows his mind whenever I can show him photos of somewhere I’ve been that we’re reading about. Ireland and Australia have always been up there on my dream vacation spots.
  • @SpartanCat I think pacifiers are hit and miss. DS1 took anything but was horrible about giving them up until he was 3 and DS2 was born. DS2 took nothing but likely more due to a severe tongue and lip tie he couldn’t hold onto them or keep latched breastfeeding either. I’ll likely skip the pacifier if possible this time but I think a lot of the registry welcome
boxes come with a variety of samples to try.

@hedgepig it’s totally warranted to have a sprinkle with twins! I don’t think a sprinkle is greedy regardless it’s celebrating baby/ies to be. You kinda need double the things with twins though so definitely reasonable to have a shower or sprinkle. For my SILs shower she included a note about how she would be thrilled to give handmedowns and gently used baby gear a new home if anyone had things they didn’t need anymore vs buying new as a gift. You could add something to that effect so people don’t feel pressured to buy or have things they were planning to rehome soon anyway (all the mom friends?)
  • @spartancat I have a bag of pacis still that neither kid liked. Kind of nice not to have to worry about losing them, so I won’t be too upset if this one doesn’t take to them either 🤷‍♀️

@hedgepig you’re going to cloth diaper, right? Maybe theme a sprinkle on “fill the freezer” and know that some people will bring gifts anyway? That said, I think sprinkles are fine, especially if someone else is planning/hosting it for you!
  • @farm_mama my first like literally wouldn't sleep unless he was held, while walking. Nothing helped. He has also never had any kind of comfort item - no pacifier, no special stuffy or blanket etc. I'm trying my best to get everything I can just to set us up for success in case we have the same problem

@kmw611 yeah a variety would be helpful. I don't really want to rely on a pacify but I worry about thumb sucking

@halfanewt I totally get that and feel the same way. Just trying to set ourselves up for success with all possible options haha
  • @spartancat totally get that! Might be worth asking in your local moms group. That’s how I got the assortment of pacifiers and bottles to try out. Free is always a bonus and you get a pre-made sampler pack!

Baby is the size of a (an): cantaloupe/coconut (at some point does she stop being a sphere, haha)

    Team blue/pink/green: girl

Upcoming Appointments: check-up in two weeks, but will be with a different doc, since my OB is overseas atm.

How are you feeling?:  generally good. I was getting some pretty excruciating pelvic girdle pain last week, but this week seems a lot better (still get some pain near the pubic bone, and of course RLP).

Rants/Raves: It seems early, but we started seeing her little kicks last week. It's bizarre and amazing to see a split-second lump emerge and disappear on my belly. It's only when she's really active, though.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? Something outside! I had such a craving to go camping a couple of weekend ago when we were doing some day hikes. Would love to have some time (and means) to explore our island more, but also visiting Glacier National Park has been on my list for ages.

  • @hedgepig I don't think it's weird to do a shower/sprinkle for subsequent kids, especially not if you're having twins. I think people should celebrate all the pregnancies/babies! I think the "fill the freezer" idea @halfanewt suggested is a really cool idea and I might steal it for myself!

Baby is the size of a (an): Carrot

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

    Upcoming Appointments: November 10

How are you feeling?: Good, not a lot of complaints, which is nice!

Rants/Raves: We are finally making progress on the "office" that will now be my daughter's room so the new baby can have her room. We had to build a closet that the previous people had taken out to turn the room into an office and replace the carpet, paint over the terrible colors on the wall and ceiling. All that's left is to put a shelf/bar in the closet and get carpet. Carpet should be installed next week, then we can move furniture and a big girl bed in. I am excited!

    Questions: none

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? I would like to go on a backpacking trip anywhere somewhat remote if my family is not coming. If they are coming, I would be happy to explore anywhere with good food and an interesting history. My partner wants to go to Japan and see where his grandmother was from and I think that would be a cool trip.

Baby is size of a: mango

    Team: PINK

Upcoming appointments: Oct 20, anatomy scan!

How are you feeling: this past week has been good, finally think I'm enjoying some of the 2nd trimester good stuff! Past couple nights I've only had to get up 2-3 times to pee instead what was feeling like 15 times! But then today while bending over loading the dishwasher I sneezed and promptly needed to change my pants, socks, and everything in between 😐 sooo embarrassing even though the only witnesses were my dogs. Thankfully I was at home at least. Other than that things are good! Lol

Rants/raves: husband has been making a concerted effort to spend quality time with me (granted it took some nagging, lol). Means a lot because its just been the two of us since we were married 7 yrs ago so I'm trying to cram in all the QT before our world changes ❤️

Questions: ummm.. any tips to strengthen the pelvic floor? Lol. I'm tracking kegels and how/how often the interwebs say to do them, but if anyone has additional tips or tricks? I'm learning a lot more from everyone's personal experiences that you all so graciously share opposed to just googling.

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation? Northwoods with family. Cabin. Lake. Seclusion. Yessss please!
  • @farm_mama I got comments for the first time this past week but was likely because I started wearing obvious maternity clothes- like the tops that tie above your belly and accentuate it.
  • @aby1228 I started reading this book, Why Did No One Tell Me?, which discusses pelvic floor a lot. Might be of interest
  • @cioccolata16 Thank you, I will definitely check it out!

Baby is the size of a (an):  Mango? Banana tomorrow? Lol.

    Team blue/pink/green:  Blue

    Upcoming Appointments:  General/antenatal tomorrow morning

How are you feeling?:  Pretty good! I still sleep more than I did before I was pregnant (I’m pretty wiped by 9pm) but overall I feel a lot better than I did the first trimester.

Rants/Raves:  Placenta attached to front wall so I am not feeling baby boy very much  :(  But at the ultrasound he showed me plenty of kicks and squirms  <3

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your ideal vacation?  Early (and paid) maternity leave LOL. But honestly I’d just be happy with getting to stay home for a couple weeks.
  • This check in is poppin this week!

@SpartanCat We never used pacis with our older kids, but I'm thinking we might want to with the twins, so I am here for these answers too! I think I saw that Babylist sells a paci sample box?

@farm_mama Yeah, I don't like baby showers all that much, but I know that lots of people do love them, and love buying stuff for babies, so I keep trying to remind myself that most people want to go to one!

@halfanewt Ugh, I feel you on the maternity clothes - all of my maternity pants that worked great for me last pregnancy just won't stay up/or seem to fit weird this time around. Sooooo annoying 🙄 Fill the freezer is a great idea too! I love it!

@kmw611 I love the idea about hand-me-downs! We wear mostly hand-me-downs anyways, so that's perfect 💜

@cioccolata16 Sorry to hear about the pelvic girdle pain! I had it bad with my last baby, and am dreading it this time. I will say that with my last baby it got really bad, but then got better! I was so worried that it would be just keep getting worse and it totally didn't - I hope the same for you!

@dinomeetsjedi Yay for the nursery conversion! That must feel great!

@aby1228 I do MommaStrong for my exercises, and I know they have a whole section on peeing your pants/leaking, aside from the general work you do in the program for pelvic floor health! I love it!

@spoop I had an anterior placenta with my first and hated how long it took to feel him move. Hope you feel more soon!
