When to tell work

Hi there! I’ve been struggling with exhaustion and mid day morning sickness pretty bad. To the point I have to leave work. I am a psychotherapist and feel horrible letting my clients down. With this i feel guilty not telling my clients or work. When would you tell your work/ clients?

Re: When to tell work

  • I told one of my bosses when I was around 5-6 weeks because I woke up with spotting and didn’t want to go into work. I’m a manager so it’s important for us to show up or have a good reason why we aren’t. I just felt like being transparent was best for me instead of being vague. But I have been with the company for 9 years so I’m not worried about any issues. However if it’s affecting your attendance/performance i’d tell them. I know they can’t let you go for being pregnant so it’s better to tell them instead of them wondering why you have to leave frequently. They might even already have an idea.
for my son I didn’t tell work until 12ish weeks. But I was able to get around it and even though I was nauseous I made sure to stop to eat or rest when I needed.

  • I actually worried about my job taking some responsibilities from me, so I didn’t tell them until almost 18 weeks when I couldn’t really hide the belly anymore. Lol. At that point, I felt ready to let go some of my responsibilities, so I told my boss.
  • 12 weeks is usually  the safe zone
