Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o Sep 25

**This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o Sep 25

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Acupuncture and herbs

How are things going?: Pretty good. We’ve been really busy lately, which helps keep me from obsessing about TTC stuff, so that’s been nice.

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? Chicken Tikka Masala
  • Loading the player...
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): immune issues, need lots of progesterone

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): still in a holding pattern. Hoping to start the immune meds in the next cycle or the one after

How are things going?: things have been really busy! I've been everywhere this month. Drove 10+ hours one way for a wedding, I was also gone for 2 weeks for work so now I'm trying to get back into the normal swing of things. It feels like so much and not much time has passed. Everything feels a little jumbled. I honestly didn't even realize until today that it's officially the fall season! 🤪

Any questions?: ok maybe TMI.... does anybody here use a sex pillow or have a recommendation? I feel like I'm in contortionist positions sometimes and it kills my back making it hard to really enjoy DTD!

GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? I haven't had it in forever, but beef pot roast with potatoes and carrots used to always be a major comfort food.

@britters314 this keeping busy has been great! Time is flying by which helps when we're in this process where it feels everything takes so long to get to the next step

@inth@inthewoods23 my husband has looked into a sex couch but they're so expensive! I've used regular pillows before but they're too fluffy to provide actual support, so let us know if you end up with one of those triangle wedge pillows that are supposed to be really good

  • @inthewoods23 omg I haven’t thought about post roast in FOREVER but it was a staple Sunday lunch for most of my childhood. So much nostalgia!

@winterecho Happy Birthday!! 🎉 How are you celebrating?

    Diagnosis (if you've been): TBD

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Testing last week revealed both slightly elevated TSH and that I’ve lost rubella antibodies, so started thyroid meds and my first dose of MMR will be tomorrow. Benched for a minimum 60 days to account for 2 doses 30 days apart + 30 days for the virus to clear.

How are things going?: It’s a very strange feeling to go from actively ttc to actively preventing—especially since we got the rubella news just as I was entering the fertile window. I’m having a hard time with stepping back when we’ve already spent so much time trying, but part of me knows we really could use a break from the anxiety and uncertainty of it all.

We’ll chat with the RE on Friday to go over full test results, but then I’m guessing we’ll just plan to reconvene in early December.

    Any questions?:

GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? Mac ‘n cheese! I’ll make it from scratch if I’ve got the time/energy, but since we’re talking comfort foods, I’ll be honest: it’s usually blue box.

  • @aisleofviewtwo started celebrating with a trip with a friend to a book festival in NC over the weekend! Then for the day of I'm starting the day with a visit to the clinic for blood work 😅 followed by going back home to work remotely. Also what is up with MMR? I got the vaccine as a kid but still got mumps and I was found not immune to rubella so I did get vaccinated for it as an adult

  • @britters314 Busy is good! I like it when I'm too busy to stress over the details, especially in the TWW.

@inthewoods23 I have heard good things about a pillow called the Wedge (my girlfriend with back problems LOVES it)

@winterecho Happy Birthday!!! Book festival sounds like a fab way to celebrate!
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, DOR

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): medicated cycle with TI

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): letrozole 5mg CD3-7, then progesterone after O

    How are things going?
TW *other people's LC* and also lots of family drama that you may not want to read lol
Been a bit of a shit show around here. I lost my grandma last week, and attended her funeral this weekend. Spent 10 hours in the car to attend an event that turned out something like a WASPy war zone, with repressed family drama bombs exploding left and right. Got home to hear that nearly every one of my family members in attendance tested positive for COVID on Monday, including my grieving 90+ grandfather, and my 60+ father who is having major surgery in 2 weeks. Add to this that one of my cousins went and moved my other 90+ grandfather who also just lost his wife about a 6 hour drive away without telling anyone and won't let anyone talk to him...

At the funeral I also held my cousin's 3 month old perfect baby that they tried very very very hard to have later in life. She was amazing and perfect, and I didn't even cry holding her. Not even when my mother made disparaging remarks about me having more children, when she knows what we have been through :(

Definitely feeling like I need to get back into therapy after all this. Made the call this morning lol.

    Any questions?: NATM

GTKY: What's your favorite comfort food? See, it's hard to make these GTKY questions every week, and I can tell that I've already used this one before becuase I knew that @britters314 also loves Indian comfort foods. Sorry ladies lol. Chicken vindaloo and saag paneer for me, the hotter the better. I also do love a good pot roast. You're inspiring me to get into my fall cooking @inthewoods23
  • @maggiemadeit When I was typing in my answer to the GTKY question, I was thinking I’ve been here too long if I’m answering the same questions again lol. It is definitely hard to come up with new questions every week, though.
  • @britters314 haha I completely relate! I sincerely never imagined I would still be here making threads and forgetting which questions I already used. I know you know it all too well, but this road is just so long sometimes!
  • @winterecho a sex couch is a bit much, no? 😆 hope you've had a good birthday!

@aisleofviewtwo I think I'm going to try making it for the first time this fall! Mac and cheese though 😋. Fun fact, I found out I was immune to rubella, but not to the measles when I went to a different RE for a second opinion. Who knows how long that's been the case! Was I ever? Did it lose efficacy? So many questions!

@maggiemadeit I will check out this Wedge! So sorry for all the family drama! That's a lot to deal with.

  • @inthewoods23 yes a couch is too much but I let him run wild with his ideas 😅 we have nowhere to put it anyway, plus how does one explain an unconventional couch in a bedroom?
