How are you feeling?: sound like a broken record, but still nauseous. Got the NIPT results back today and they look good, so excited about that!

Rants/Raves: had a great weekend with the kids! Back to work is always a drag after that, especially when coworkers are stress balls.

Questions: how do you actually have the conversation to tell your boss? I’ve waited longer in the past, but don’t think I’ll be able to this time. Both times, it was so awkward. Ideas on how to bring it up?

Baby is the size of a (an): 🍑🍑

    Team blue/pink/green: 💙💙

    Upcoming Appointments: 9/18, 9/22, 9/29

How are you feeling?: generally better, but today was a very tired day.

Rants/Raves: So I am reading that for twin pregnancies in particular it's really important to eat A LOT of protein, and so I've been working hard to eat a lot, but am struggling. On my best days I'm hitting 100g, which still isn't enough, and I'm just not sure how I can get more in. Which leads to my question...

Questions: Any recommendations for protein powders that don't taste gross and aren't sweetened with stevia or artificial sweeteners?

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? Build a nice big house addition! Renovate my parents' house! Buy MH a truck! Pay off the new car! Stay home with the babies and not work for a few years 💜

How are you feeling?: I wish I could say better. I do feel better, but I am still exhausted and can't eat anything.

Rants/Raves: Rant, my big kids schedules are knocking me on my butt. I've never done this with big kids before and the running them around is absolutely exhausting.

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? Pay off our ranch and then buy more ground!
  • @hedgepig What kind of powder are you looking for something to put in smothies? If you tolerate dairy I would think a straight whey protein or maybe p2 powdered peanut butter? I have one I am using, but it is gross! I am having a really hard time eating enough as well, and I don't even have twins! What are you eating to hit even 100g?
  • @hedgepig do you have an aldi near you? I drink one of their protein shakes every morning.

  • @farm_mama It's all new to me! I'm fine with dairy, and was thinking of trying whey, but I also am eating a lot of dairy already. I tried a smoothie with collagen the other day and liked it, so maybe I'll try that too? I've never heard of P2 PB, but will keep my eye out! Right now I'm just trying to eat 4 or 5 small meals a day - Greek yogurt and granola, string cheese/cottage cheese, leftovers for lunch, protein bar, meat dinner, and Magic Spoon cereal for dessert. It's hard because I'm really not hungry because I'm eating so often, but apparently this is the time to really put on some pounds before my stomach gets too small to eat.

@ceclarlinetlo No Aldi out West, unfortunately, and our tiny town hardly has a grocery store, so we generally go do our shopping a couple towns over.

Baby is the size of a (an): avocado

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: 22w check up is on 10/23, I need to call today and schedule my anatomy scan hopefully before then

How are you feeling?: Great! I had my early 3hr glucose yesterday and I passed

Rants/Raves: While I'm happy I passed, I'm a little annoyed at the whole process. By hour 3, my blood sugar was 74 and by the time I ate a half hour later, it was even lower and I felt awful. Then I crashed after and slept for 3 hours. They're going to make me do it again at 28 weeks and I'm really hoping I can get out of it since I dropped so low this time.

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? Move to Tennessee to be closer to our family, pay off debt, go on a badass babymoon and be a sahm!

Baby is the size of a (an): mango

    Team blue/pink/green: girl

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan tomorrow!! (then not for another three weeks)

How are you feeling?: A lot better. Mostly just get winded quickly and the RLP is not the most comfortable.

Rants/Raves: I have started to feel much more distinct baby movements!! There have been a few little kicks that I could even feel from the outside, so I'm assuming the placenta is posterior (will find out tomorrow!). The only downside now is that when I don't feel something I start getting nervous, haha.

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? Probably buy a house (though it's near impossible to find something here for much under $1M) and put aside any remaining in long-term savings.

  • @hedgepig a friend of mine likes this protein powder. She says she usually gets the unflavored so she can mix it in a lot of different stuff but she also enjoys the chocolate. She doesn’t like the vanilla or strawberry.  https://store.trimhealthymama.com/product/pristine-whey-protein-powders/

Upcoming Appointments: HB Midwife on the 27th

How are you feeling?: Overall really good, at that stage that I’m feeling good enough to feel somewhat normal again and haven’t gotten huge enough that I necessarily feel pregnant. Just got over our first school-borne cold and feeling grateful to breathe through my nose again haha.

    Rants/Raves:

Questions: what’s the most surprising craving you’ve had so far- mine is diet soda. NEVER ever drink it other wise but literally could drink one a day right now. And just diet! Wtf

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? Pay off our house, add a small addition. Buy a new reliable car. And not tell ANYONE that we won lol.
  • @SpartanCat we have loved out hatch lights. Also great for middle of the night feeds and diaper changes because you can control the light and sound from your phone.

@halfanewt could you notify them in writing? Less awkward maybe that way.

@hedgepig protein can be hard! I have been using the isopure brand unflavored for about 8 months now and love it. I buy it at walmart. I add it to oatmeal or froth it into coffee when i feel like that. Never taste it.

@cmill828 that glucola drink sucks. Will your provider let you use the FreshTest instead? You’ll have to buy it yourself if they do, but i think its pretty reasonable.

@cioccolata16 my shortness of breath is so much worse this pregnancy than any previously! And the baby is still tiny. Such a weird pregnancy symptom.
  • @night_nurse I was thinking about getting it for my toddler since we just switched him to his new room and big boy bed. However last night he asked me to shut all the curtains so I don't know if he even wants a night light. He also still asks for us to come and get him when he wakes up so I'm not too worried about him scurrying around his room as I was.
  • @night_nurse I didn't even know there was an alternative option! I will definitely ask, thank you for the suggestion! It also didn't help that the glucola wasn't that cold, blegh!

How are you feeling?: tired. I’ve been having such bad migraines recently and they just wipe me out.

    Rants/Raves:

    Questions:

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? I would pay off my house and invest the rest.
  • @SpartanCat @ceclarlinetlo @cioccolata16 All you Feb ladies with your anatomy scans are making me so excited! Good luck 🤞

@SpartanCat We loved our Hatch lights - except that after a couple of years they would start to malfunction. Their customer service is great, and they even sent us a new one, but after going through a few, we made a switch to the Little Hippo Mella. We don't use them for night lights, but rather as OK to Wake Clocks, and both work great for that. My kids are very well trained to stay in their room until the Light comes on, which is a sanity saver for sure.

@halfanewt This reminds me that I have to go tell work too. I've told my principal, but still need to tell the superintendent and HR, but I don't like them, so I don't want to 🤷🏻‍♀️

@farm_mama I'm sorry you're still feeling so crummy - I hope things look up soon!

@cmill828 Congrats on passing the glucose test, but sorry you have to do it again! With both of my older kids I failed the 1 hr and had to do the 3 hr and haaaated it. I don't have a hard time with the actual test, but not being able to drink water the night before is pure torture.

@cioccolata16 Good luck with your A/S today!

@ceclarlinetlo Thanks for the rec - I will definitely check it out!

@night_nurse I will check out the isopure too, thanks! Diet soda is the weirdest craving ever 😮

@kmw611 Ugh, sorry about the migraines. Have you talked to your doc about them?

How are you feeling?: I feel like my tummy is heavier and getting in the way. I went for a walk yesterday and my stomach just felt stretched and heavy. My partner is happy about it because he feels like this means the baby is bigger and hopefully healthier even though I try to explain it's just a STM thing. Other than that I think my symptoms are finally in a good place. I'm a reasonable amount of tired and the nausea is better.

    Rants/Raves: none right now

    Questions: none

GTKY: If you won a million dollars, what would you do with the money? The same as everyone else, pay off my house, stay home with babies for a couple years and save the rest!
  • @hedgepig we’ve talked in general terms about them but they’ve never been as frequent as they’ve been recently so I may need to bring it up again. Maybe there’s something I can take to help.

@SpartanCat if you’re looking for just a wake up light/clock we got a cute little cloud clock at target for like $15 that has an ok to wake light on it. It’s worked perfectly for my guys. Even my nephew (4) won’t come out of their room before the lights green when he stays over😂 his parents are jealous he will do it here but not at home.
  • I am very fussy about lights at night. Everything must be pitch black, which my family is often annoyed about! Do you find these okay to wake lights/hatch lights impact sleep quality at all?

I say this because even though everything is very dark one of my children does not stay in their own room! Ever!
  • @farm_mama I sleep dark too, and we've never used ours as night lights, just as OK to Wake (and Hatch as our sound machines). In the kids 4oom we have a wall plug in amber colored night light that would definitely bother me, but doesn't seem to bother them at all, and helps when someone gets up to pee or whatever.

  • @farm_mama i use it nightly for the white noise and keep the light off unless I need a very small amount of light for nursing or a diaper change. And I typically pick an orange or red colored light for that. I too absolutely hate any lights on at night, much to my bed-sharing 5 year old’s dismay.
