Re: Weekly Check-In Week of 9/11/2023

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 32 wks, 4 days,  C-section scheduled for 10/18

    FTM/STM/STM+: Baby #5

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: Apparently a baby armadillo. But that's got to be a lie bc this kid is a giant. I'm convinced.

Upcoming appointments: Tuesday at the OB and Thursday at the MFM

How are you feeling: Sore, tired and huge. I made sure to tell DH yesterday that this 100% on him. Here I was going along, expelling my eggs once a month just fine exactly like I'm supposed to. And then he comes along and shakes everything up. Rude.

Rants / Raves: DS2 is still adament that he's not coming to the hospital to visit when the baby comes. Trying not to take it personally. I mean, he's 7. But it still makes me sad that he's having such a hard time coming to terms with all this.

I'm counting the weeks to the c-section - 5 weeks and 2 days. Excited to meet this chunk. Also excited to be semi-comfortable in my body again.

    Questions:

GTKY: If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Potatoes. Mashed, baked, fried, I don't care. Well, maybe not scalloped. But potatoes. With some ranch, cheese, butter and sour cream. And chicken. Well damn. I'm hungry now. Thanks @makingbacon. LoL

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/24 29+3

    FTM/STM/STM+: TTM

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Boy

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: Gizmo

Upcoming appointments: not until 10/4… this office 😞 but they did let me schedule the rest out so they will be on time and I’ll just try not to panic until then I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

How are you feeling: huge, sciatica has arrived, anxious

Rants / Raves: finally did my glucose test today, hoping I pass but nervous since it was afternoon… they told me to eat normally but I cut out all added sugar and carbs since dinner last night like I did for my last office. I got a lot done this appointment though: got my t-dap, submitted paperwork for breast pump, and signed paperwork to get a tubal in case of c-section.

    Questions: none

GTKY: If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: it’s weird but it’s my favorite combo since I was a child… spaghetti with butter and cottage cheese

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: Nov 18, 30+2

    FTM/STM/STM+: 5TM

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: boy

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: a motorcycle helmet

    Upcoming appointments: MFM tomorrow

How are you feeling: large, uncomfortable... I've gained more weight than I ever have and it's noticeable in how I feel which really stinks. Trying to remember it's all for good and I can make progress on myself in a few months.

Rants / Raves: my main pregnancy craving for my last 3 pregnancies, including this one, is ice and our ice maker is on its last leg so I'm having to save most of the ice for my kids water bottles. First world rant for sure but 😭

Questions: what breast pump is everyone getting? I'm debating between the motif luna, which I've had before and loved, or the zomee z2 which is little and I'm curious about it...

GTKY: If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Thats a tough choice, idk if I can decide. Mayne breakfast for dinner... eggs Benedict and French toast.

  • update: I failed my glucose test 😢 waiting to hear back if I get to do the 3 hr or if they’ll just diagnose me… I got 158 and cutoff was 140

  • @varimama Ugh, that stinks. Have you done the 3 hour glucose test? I had to do it with DS3, and my number was similar to yours and was in the mid 150’s if I remember it correctly.
@runsoncoffee I always make a baby registry with each pregnancy, even though we don’t do a baby shower, so I can have the completion discount. If you have one, I’d put a new ice maker on it lol.
@UnwritteN12 I am always telling DH that this is his fault lol. My genetics were just minding their own business, running the normal monthly routine, and boom, his showed up.

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: head of lettuce

Upcoming appointments: Regular OB next wed

How are you feeling: overall good, just hate sleeping on my side!

Rants / Raves: Yesterday at my mfm ultrasound the baby was head down!! It's still early so I know he/she can still move around, but i've never once seen a head down baby at any of my 10+ ultrasounds in 2 pregnancies, so I was thinking i had a structural defect in my pelvis or something.

    Questions:

GTKY: If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: probably pizza

@varimama ugh, bummer. good luck with the 3 hour if that's what they have you do! (fwiw, i had 155ish with my daughter and they had me do the 3 hour... i passed it)

@runsoncoffee i was planning to get the spectra. it's what i had with my daughter and i EPed for her for 18 months. I still have it, so I was contemplating getting a different one so i could have 2 different types to try... but i loved the spectra and responded really well to it... I figure after 18 months of full-time use, it would probably be good to get a new one as i don't know how long the motors are really good for

  • @makingbacon good idea! I have other things on my registry for the discount but didn't think of that.
  • @UnwritteN12 - I’m giggling at your “how are you feeling” response. Those pesky husbands.

@varimama - I’ve never had cottage cheese on pasta, might need to try that. Sorry for the anxiety on the lack of appointments, I’m glad they let you schedule the rest.

@runsoncoffee - I’m still torn on pumps. I used a Spectra S2 for my first and LOVED it, so so much output. For my second, my friend gave me her Spectra S1 and an Elvie. I didn’t get the same output - so I don’t know if my supply was just different, or the used pumps weren’t as effective. So I’m debating getting a new S2, or if I should look outside the Spectra family. I already have so many of the supplies!

@fitandnerdy - same thoughts on the used motors - I just didn’t get as good of an output using my friends S2 (with all new parts!)

    Third kid: Due 11/6
    Second kid: Dec 2021
    First kid: Sept 2019
  • @bluepeach565 I had a Medela for DS1, a Spectra S1 (or whichever has the battery option) for DS2, and an Elvie for DS3. I ended up going back to the Spectra for DS3 because I couldn’t get the output from the Elvie that I normally got. Plus, I got the Elvie because I thought it would be better for work travel (I pump while I drive), and it was so much harder to put on correctly than the Spectra. For this baby, I’ll be getting another Spectra.
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 11/8 - 32w2d

    FTM/STM/STM+: TTM

Team Boy/Girl/Surprise: Surprise (though a doc doing an ultrasound used a pronoun and then looked shocked at themselves. So perhaps less of a surprise now)

Interesting baby fact/Baby is the size of: as tall as three expo markers stacked

Upcoming appointments: Doc is going to fit me in sometime next week, and then also 9/30

How are you feeling: Very exhausted. We traveled back from Italy on Friday, and it was a super long day. Made a bit longer by a cancelled flight and an airport strike. A few days later, my blood pressure started getting some concerning readings and along with some other weird symptoms (couldn't stand up for long without feeling like I was going to pass out, lightheadedness, shortness of breath) I had to head to the ER. Luckily, it came down and all of the tests were normal. So it's just apparently exhaustion and jetlag. I don't think I've ever had jetlag before, but my kids haven't quite adjusted back on the time and seem to think it's acceptable to start their days at 4am.

    Rants / Raves:
Rant - we are up in NY at my MIL's and our insurance doesn't work out of state. So we are going to have to pay out of pocket for the ER visit. Fingers crossed it's not horrendous (who am I kidding! :'( ).

Rave - I got checked out in Italy too, I kept having lots of Braxton Hicks and some weird pains, and since I hadn't seen my doctor in while, she wanted me to go find a place to make sure all was okay. I went to an Italian hospital and was monitored by the OB department for a few hours and also got an ultrasound...for 25 euros! So maybe the two hospital visits balance each other out. I'll be home next week and I'm excited to have our regular insurance and see my doctors after too long of a break.

Questions: How on earth do we only have two months left?! Where has the time gone!!

GTKY: If you could only eat 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Hmmm something with pasta and cheese. Probably Italian sausage pasta with parmesan and spinach. Ooooh might have to make a new dinner plan now.

    Third kid: Due 11/6
    Second kid: Dec 2021
    First kid: Sept 2019
  • @makingbacon - I wanted to love the elvie so badly! At the very end, I was trying weird hacks for flange size and I think I was getting a little better output (still not the same as the spectra) but mostly I would just somehow make a huge mess. I hate not being able to see whats going on!
