I did the NIPT blood test at 11 weeks and it came back male. I’ve had 2 sonograms (13+1 & 15+4) and 3 ultrasound techs say with 99.9% certainty that it is a girl. What do I believe?
Oh dear! So, granted I'm new to this, but I was under the impression that until the anatomy scan (so 18-20weeks), ultrasounds can be a bit hit-or-miss for identifying gender. NIPT should be more accurate particularly for a boy, because it identifies fragments of the baby's DNA in your blood sample. The only reason there would be a Y chromosome in your blood, is if you had a male fetus hanging out. This paper apparently found NIPT is 99% accurate is identifying fetal sex.
I'm been wondering if something similar might happen when I go in for the anatomy scan in a week and a half. My NIPT predicted a girl, but that's a bit less certain than a boy, so there's still a chance the US could show something different!!

I have a friend who was told after multiple ultrasounds (including a 3D one) that she was having a girl and that baby came out a boy. I would trust the DNA test over ultrasound.
