Overheating while sleeping?

Hey fellow moms-to-be,

I hope all of you are doing well. I am 6 weeks along. I have this habit of covering myself with a quilt/duvet completely while sleeping. I cannot sleep comfortably if I don’t cover myself that way. Typically, in the mornings now, when I take my temperature orally immediately after I wake up, it is around 99.1F. Am I getting overheated all night? Is it dangerous for the fetus? Anyone else in a similar situation?

Would like to know your thoughts on this. Thank you everyone.

Re: Overheating while sleeping?

  • I don’t check my temperature but I have been waking up in sweats! I’m just drench because I get so hot at night.

  • I wake up hot and sometimes sweaty too. I don’t ever check my temp, but a person’s temp can vary from 97.6 to 99.6. A body temp over 100.4 is what they usually classify as a fever.

If you’re worried, it wouldn’t hurt to call your OB’s office and talk to the nurse. They can usually steer you in the right direction of what’s normal or not.
  • Same here! I toss between covers to fall asleep and overheating every few hours. My partner is freezing because I’ve turned down the AC to survive. But whoah - sleep heat is no joke!
  • Omg! Constantly! I’m the same with needing covers and even though we have a super light comforter and have the AC blasting, I still wake up in a sweats!
  • I usually LOVE going camping. With Labor Day weekend here, I’m kind of dreading not having entire climate control over my sleeping situation. This nightly overheating is about to get iiiiiiiinteresting 😬
