Low progesterone at 6 weeks - Is there any chance it’s not a miscarriage?

When we went in for what should have been our 6.5 weeks scan and blood work there was no fetal pole or yolk sac and the gestational sac was only measuring 6 weeks along. After doing blood work my hcg was 30k but my progesterone was only at 6.1. Compared to 10.5 progesterone 3 weeks prior. Based on the drop in progesterone combined with the empty gestational sac my Dr called and said it was her clinical opinion this indicates a miscarriage. I asked about progesterone supplements but my Dr indicated at this point it would just prolong the miscarriage. We’re going in for another scan in a week to confirm. I’m looking for similar stories or any thoughts really. This was our first baby, I’m 28 and I’m having a really hard time processing. I just don’t know what to do and we’re devastated.

  • I also haven’t had any spotting or cramping. I had nausea and breast sensitivity during week 5.

  • How’s it going for you? With all three of my full term pregnancy I had my progesterone drop and started taking progesterone supplements and they were fine. My first one I’m assuming I did have the progesterone drop but didn’t get it checked and I did miss Carry But in my opinion, progesterone supplements is definitely useful.
