    FTM/STM/TTM+: 3+4TM

Baby is the size of a (an): Strawberry

    Team blue/pink/green: Will find out

    Upcoming Appointments: NIPT draw Wednesday

How are you feeling?: Yucky, but a little better. My energy is coming back, but the nausea is still here, although not quite a much. Some days are better than others.

Rants/Raves: I start back to work today and it's going to be 100+ degrees 🫠 On the one hand, at least I have air conditioning in my classroom, but on the other hand I have to wear real (work appropriate) clothes, which means maternity clothes 😅

Questions: Anyone else done their NIPT yet? What was the turnaround time for results?

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why?
I love the changing of seasons. I like that by the time winter is over I can't wait to wear shorts and be warm, and by the time summer is over I am dying for sweaters and rain. But if I had to choose one it would be spring - I love all the new growing life and greenery.

Baby is the size of a (an): 🍓

    Team blue/pink/green: Green

Upcoming Appointments: Had labs drawn today, see the Midwife on the 22nd

How are you feeling?: Overall so much better. Have moments of extreme nausea, but usually only if I go too long without eating.

Rants/Raves: Rant for having a surprise GTT this morning. Wasn’t expecting to have to down Glucola when I went in. This is my first pregnancy I am starting out overweight. Midwife said it is a way they screen for undiagnosed type 2 diabetes based on mom’s starting weight? But couldnt they just check an A1c?! Any way, I didn’t push back because I didn’t feel like it. I am still seeing a typical OB/midwife practice to use my insurance for all the routine labs, screenings, ultrasounds, etc. and paying out of pocket for a homebirth midwife.

Questions: Anyone else trying to wait for birth to find out the sex? Cant decide if I want to do the early genetic screening or not because I dont think I have the willpower to know that baby’s sex will just be sitting in my email for me to look at at any time and not check it?!

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? Definitely Spring. Coming out of the cold winter and looking forward to warmer weather, flowers, trees and everything in bloom.

  • @hedgepig I love how you’re answering the FTM/STM/TTM question 😆 so creative. Do you know yet what kind of twins you’re having?
  • @night_nurse So not fair to spring a glucose challenge on you 😭 I don't know for sure what type they are - apparently I will have an appt at some point with an OB and talk to them about it - but on the U/S I could see that they are in 2 sacs, so I am assuming DiDi 🤞

Baby is the size of a (an): raspberry

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: not until 9/1! Will be first with midwives, too. So weird.

How are you feeling?: nauseous all the time. Ugh. And recovering from a cold.

Rants/Raves: redid the toy organization in the kids playroom and it looks so much better! Easier for them to find the toys they want, too. Now to try to sneakily get rid of some…

Questions: what’s the earliest you can do NIPT? Is it 10 weeks?

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? Fall. I love the changing leaves, cooler air, and lead up to all the holidays. Plus it’s so nice to get cozy again after summer. I’m with you both on spring, though - it was a close second.
  • @hedgepig good luck back at work and hooray for AC! Not sure yet how I’ll navigate the clothes thing when I go back in 2 weeks.

@night_nurse uncool on the surprise test! Hopefully you pass with flying colors and don’t have to repeat later. We did NIPT and were team green with both kiddos so far. Plan to do the same again. The results went to my patient portal email, not my regular, so it’s not like it’s staring you in the face all the time. But yes, it was tempting a time or two!
  • @hedgepig You’re a teacher? Thank you for your service. 😊 Glad you have AC. In our district only about half the schools (fortunately our son’s included) have it.
@night_nurse Boo for surprise glucose test! Fingers crossed you pass with flying colors. I’m too nosy to not find out the sex when I can.
@halfanewt From what I read, NIPT is at its most accurate starting in week 10, and results are 8-14 days after testing.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 3/23 (8+2)

    FTM/STM/TTM+: STM

Baby is the size of a (an): dime

Team blue/pink/green: green until I can find out

    Upcoming Appointments: 8/22

How are you feeling?: still nauseous, but for smaller periods; the fatigue is real though

Rants/Raves: My husband is taking the day off work to come with me to next week’s appointment. His job is crazy in that they require any time off to be requested 6 weeks in advance and when I found out and scheduled my appointment it was 4 weeks away. He’s risking a write up and I appreciate it.

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why?
Autumn for sure. The changing leaves, the cooler temps, the pumpkin spice everything, the holidays, and the fact that both my and my husband’s birthdays are in this season. Spring is pretty, but everyone in the house has spring allergies, so we can’t enjoy it quite as much.

Baby is the size of a (an): cherry

Team blue/pink/green: will find out when we can!

Upcoming Appointments: first week of September, will be my second appointment.

How are you feeling?: Extremely fatigued, emotional, nauseous, and have strong food aversions; first trimester is so hard, I'm hoping to turn a corner soon with second tri on the horizon!

Rants/Raves: I have somehow managed to still be able to play some tennis from time to time, when my body feels up to it, which is a great way to keep me moving!

Questions: I will take any tips on how to add some variety into my diet when I have such strong food aversions. Right now I just try to keep a variety of quick snacks on hand.

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? Fall, I love the cooler temps, crisp air, and the fall things- pumpkin, apples, hot drinks, etc.

@m2b2024 the first tri is very hard. I had the hardest time with my 2nd baby. Survived on chicken nuggets and ginger ale. Don’t beat yourself up for what you can or can’t handle. Baby will take what they need from you. I remember doing lots of smoothies with hidden veggies and greek yogurt for protein to feel like I was at least getting some nutrients in.

@hedgepig FX for you for di/di babies ❤️ hope you are surviving work. So glad I get to wear scrubs. Cant imagine putting on real clothes every day.

@fininevermore glad hubby is getting to go with you ❤️

@halfanewt in awe of your ability to organize a playroom at this stage 😴
  • @night_nurse thank you for your encouragement!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 3/17 9 weeks 2 days

    FTM/STM/TTM+: this is my 4th

Baby is the size of a (an): 🍒

Team blue/pink/green: I so hope to be part of team blue. My others are girls.

Upcoming Appointments: 24th with a new OB due to insurance issues

How are you feeling?: tired mostly but also dealing with food aversions unlike the other 3 pregnancies. I'm hoping it'll get better with time.

Rants/Raves: I had to switch doctors due to an insurance contract ending. I had used that same doctor for my previous two pregnancies. A positive is that the new doctor works at a different hospital where I can get my tubes tied after birth. My old doctor worked at a hospital that was religious and won't do anything in that regard.

Questions: why is it so bloody hot outside?? 😅 I'm so ready for fall.

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? Anything other than summer right now lol.

How are you feeling?: My inability to eat seems to be improving. I am still darn exhausted I can hardly function.
Rants/Raves: I've had a rough week pregnancy wise and the ups and downs are taking a toll.
Questions: How do moms of big families do this? I keep telling myself plenty of people have more than 4 children! It has been a lot that is for sure.
GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? I love the changing of the seasons in general, but to change to fall is so dramatic and beautiful! I am really looking forward to cooler days and hot food and hopefully having some energy back!

Questions: Why can't maternity leave start the second you find out you're pregnant?  :D

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? Winter! It's cold, cozy and I just love the holidays.

@justp3achy i live in south TX, today was 106! 🙃 the actual temp. “Feels like” is usually around 110 area. In heat advisory warnings everyday, but this is our normal.
Super hot. Basically your skin melts into the leather of your car anytime you have to go somewhere 😆

also, we (Texans) have to water our yard at this time to keep our foundation solid and house from falling apart, bc it has huge cracks everywhere bc our dirt is clay.
We need some serious rain our way!!! With y’all about the any season but summer, and I’m usually a summer girl. We have no idea how to function in the “winter” 🤣🤣 it’s 75 and girls pop out their scarves 💀 (no lie)
  • @k_sims Scarves at 75?! 🤯 That’s mid-summer weather here!

My uncle got married and moved to San Antonio a decade ago. At least he was smart enough to leave one coat up here so when he comes to visit in the winter he doesn’t freeze, lol!

@lilizzie31 I want work to leave me alone so bad. They’re lucky I’m really good at pasting on a smile 3 days a week. I would not turn down starting my maternity leave now. 😴
  • San Antonio is so fun! Have you ever visited?
The riverwalk is super cute and there is a sea world, fiesta texas, and schlitterbahn!
New braunfels sits right outside and that is SUCH a cute little town.

I went to college in East texas, 9 hours away from where i currently live. I visited when it was spring and 55 degrees. Girls were wearing tanks and shorts. I was wearing jeans, long sleeve and boots. I remember being like what is wrong with these people?! Cold in north tx vs south is SO different. Since we are a coastal city it’s sooo humid and always windy. So when it IS cold, it’s super windy and like a muggy feeling. Miserable. Cold in north texas is like the air is cold, but the sun is shining and feels great. So weird!
The few times it’s snowed down here everything shuts down. I worked at a hospital this last year and throughout the WHOLE hospital, only 9 restrooms worked. I mean 9 individual bathrooms. Our pipes freeze, roads freeze, and no one knows how to function. Our infrastructure is just not made for cold.

I’ve always wanted to go visit a cold state though! One with sun and snow. 😆 I’m afraid idk what an actual jacket looks like though.

Baby is the size of a (an): Brussels sprout

    Team blue/pink/green: green

Upcoming Appointments: NIPT scheduled for tomorrow, fingers crossed for speedy results🤞🏻🤞🏻 then my OB again 2 weeks after that

How are you feeling?: feeling pretty good. Starting to have more energetic days than tired days which I really appreciate while I try to get out school year organized.

Rants/raves: it is so hot🥵 only one pair of shorts still fit comfortably and I refuse to buy new ones when summer is going to end here in 5 minutes.

    Questions: not at the moment

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? I love Fall. I grew up in New England and loved the changing colors in the fall and cider at our local cider mill. Ohhh and apple cider donuts🤤. Some of what I miss most about the east coast that I try to recreate here with my smalls in the fall.
  • @hedgepig I hope you have a good first day back despite the heat!

@night_nurse unfair to spring a glucose test on you! Aren’t you supposed to fast for them?

@halfanewt nice job on the playroom! We just redid ours last month. I hope it stays nice and tidy for you🤞🏻 My dr said the earliest  I can do my NIPT is 10 weeks, heading in for it tomorrow!

Baby is the size of a (an): blueberry

Team blue/pink/green: still deciding, always waited for birth, but might actually find it early this time.

Upcoming Appointments: dating ultrasound on Monday. Nervous and excited. 😬

How are you feeling?: all over the place. Days of nausea, then days of freak out when I feel better. So emotional. Literally anything makes me cry right now.

Rants/Raves: loving the kids reactions right now. One of my daughters keeps rubbing my belly when she walks past me. They talk about the baby all the time. ❤️

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? I love winter. It's so fun with the cold, fires, holidays, hot drinks. So cozy.
  • @k_sims I went to San Antonio once. I enjoyed the river walk but didn’t get to do anything else. I had to look up schlitterbahn. Sounds cool!
55 is not shorts weather. Those girls would have gotten weird looks from me.

@kmw611 It is too hot here too. And my
husband are already doing the off/on thing with the AC; he turns it off, I turn it back on.
I can’t wait for our local cider mill to open for fall. Warm apple cider and donuts!  DS is excited for kettle corn and the haybale maze.
  • @fininevermore I’m going to be jealous when you get to go to the cider mill for cider and donuts😂. I’m in the PNW now and haven’t been to one since I moved here 10 years ago. We do go press our own cider to can at my husbands uncles house every year and I make my own donuts from that but it’s not the same😂. I’m sure there must be one near me. I’ll have to put more effort into finding one this year.
  • Hold up, @fininevermore a cider mill?!?
    That sounds amazing!!! 😩

Team blue/pink/green: My guess is a boy, but we’ll see when the genetic testing is done.

    Upcoming Appointments: Next Thursday

How are you feeling?: I headed up an office move last weekend that involves carrying a ton of stuff down the stairs and have been trying to recover for the last few days. Have been dealing with insane gas pain, nausea, and pain from my fibroid. Metamucil/milk of magnesia have cleared up the gas/constipation issues; Tylenol seems to be managing the fibroid pain, but I’ll be really happy when I can just rest a little.

Rants/Raves: I totally feel like I should not be responsible for work-related things right now. My brain is just all over the place!

    Questions:

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? It’s a toss-up between fall and winter. Fall is usually warm and gorgeous in San Francisco (way better than our foggy summers), but I like the coziness of winter.
  • @k_sims Not only cider, but they have events from Easter through Thanksgiving!  And the farm they’re associated with has strawberries, peaches, blackberries, apples and pumpkins available for picking

Baby is the size of a (an): cherry 🍒

    Team blue/pink/green: pink 🎀

Upcoming Appointments: second midwife appt August 30th

How are you feeling?: this week I’ve started to feel so much better, still tired but now have spurts of energy and way less nauseous.

Rants/Raves: The bloating is so annoying, I eat one thing and immediately look like I’m 6 months pregnant 😂

Questions: I’m so happy I feel like the worst of the first trimester is over but should I be worried that I turned the corner so soon at 9weeks? I felt like hell since finding out at 4 weeks and I was not expecting to just wake up one day and feel so much better. Now I’m wondering if it’s a bad thing! Still have fatigue, some food aversions, tender boobs, etc. Also just had the first ultrasound yesterday and everything was normal! It’s my first rodeo, though so I question everything 😂

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Why? normally it’s summer because of all the fun beach trips, bbq’s, and if staying light until 8pm. But it’s been so hot this year with these heat advisories, I’m ready for cooler weather!
  • Trying to catch up here - this week has been a whirlwind! But we had our first day of school yesterday and it went great - both if my older kiddos did good and my classes seem great. I can't believe I'll be going on leave and won't be there for the end of the school year! It's weird that I know that, but can't tell them that yet either 🤫 I also went and got my NIPT blood draw (along with a bunch of other bloodwork) - we do the Myriad NIPT, and it says it should be 7-10 business days and I have never been so impatient in my life 😅

@halfanewt Yes, NIPT at 10 weeks, unless your BMI is particularly high, then they wait a little longer. I also kinda think I saw one that can be done at 9 weeks, but not sure.

@fininevermore That's a crazy policy for time off - who makes appts 6 weeks out? Or anything else for that matter? I get it if it's something you know about, but sheesh, there are so many things that just.... come up!

@m2b2024 Ugh, this first tri was soooo hard! The food aversion are crazy! But as I come out of it and they lift, I am so surp4ised at how suddenly they are disappearing! I can eat almost normally again. It was like a flip of a switch. 🤞🤞🤞 you start feeling better soon!

@justp3achy Changing docs sounds like a hassle, but at least you're getting it done early! I am so over the heat too 🥵

@farm_mama I hear you about big families! Now that I'm suddenly in the 4 kids group I'm pretty overwhelmed too. I think you.... just do it 🤷🏻‍♀️ How old are your other kids? Will they be helpful?

@lilizzie31 It really seems particularly unfair to make you work in the first trimester 😭

@kmw611 We have a cider press too and have been making our own sweet and hard cider the past few years. So fun! We lived in Portland for a few years, and I remember how fast the seasons change - I hope your shorts get you there!

@mamacricket512 My kids know now too, and my 5 yo keeps petting my belly too 💜

@jamzsquared That sounds like a lot! I hope you get some rest and feel better soon!

@notyourpoohbear I don't want to be nosy, but what are you seeing the high risk specialist for?

@sunflower_4289 Ugh, the bloat is killing me! It does seem to be getting better though, so maybe there's hope?

@hedge, they will be 12, 10 & 5. They should be super helpful. I feel like a baby is easy peasy compared to big kids!

@lilizzie31 I only work 2 days a week at a local nonprofit, but I hear you! I am struggling so much at work and am worried everyone there must think I am losing my mind.

@sunflower_4289 Ah the bloat! It has been rough for me this time as well. My belly is obnoxious.

@hedgepig Since I had weightloss surgery about 6 years ago, that plus my age (35) and history of obesity and other familial health factors, my OB just wants to make sure everything is fine. She thinks I'm good, but better safe than sorry!
  • @notyourpoohbear That sounds like a good idea! I hope the appt goes great 👍
