Team blue/pink/green: The gender from my NIPT results have now been sitting in my inbox for a week. I hope to find out this weekend! (I was on vacation without my partner last week and now I want to make sure everything is okay at my appointment on Friday before doing a small gender reveal for our family)
Upcoming Appointments: Friday, 8/18
How are you feeling?: I'm starting to feel better. Still tired but the nausea is better, although I still have random bouts of feeling very sick to my stomach with diarrhea, vomiting.
Rants/Raves: I successfully traveled with a toddler for the first time! A 10 hour drive was both better and worse than I was expecting, but we survived.
Questions: none for now
GTKY: What's the worst movie you ever watched? My partner and got together in 2020 right when the pandemic happened, my roommate at the time was very scared of getting sick and so we did dates where we would watch movies at our own houses and start them at the exact same time and text back and forth about them. We went back and forth picking the movies. I once picked a movie called Earthquake 2.0 and it was very stupid with terrible acting and my partner still gives me shit about it.
@cioccolata16 I can't believe anatomy scans are coming up so quickly! That's very soon! As far as a scale, did your doctor ask you to monitor weight or have concerns about your weight? If not, I would say probably don't need a scale (my personal opinion is even if your doctor has concerns about your weight, during pregnancy isn't really the time to address them, but that is a personal opinion.) So much of your weight gain is placenta, amniotic fluid, and baby and people have enough body image issues as it is. I am suddenly thinking that maybe you have concerns about losing weight and I might be on my soap box for nothing, but I can't remember. If that is the case, I think you will likely see some weight gain (from a growing baby) soon and getting weighed at your appointments should be enough for your provider to monitor if there are concerns. My first pregnancy I didn't really gain much until the second trimester and then I started gaining a pound a week or so, so I was able to see the gain at every appointment.
Thanks @dinomeetsjedi! Yup, I am more worried about not gaining enough, but my doctor said my first trimester weight gain was fine (~1lb, but that's my normal fluctuation, anyway). I'll see at the next appointment if I'm on the pound a week track (or half a kg, here in Canada, haha). Even with NIPS, I will feel much less anxious after this anatomy scan! Hope your appointment and gender reveal on Friday go well!
