*TW* Bleeding / Spotting / Threatened miscarriage thread

This thread is for support and questions around spotting/bleeding. 🖤

Conversations surrounding these issues can be discussed here freely. The TW in the title applies for the whole thread. Please beware of reading ahead if you think you might be triggered by conversations about spotting/bleeding.

Finally, remember that most of us are not medical professionals, and even if we were, it's always best to call/visit your doctor with questions or concerns. Feel free to ask questions and voice concerns, but please do not expect anyone here to be able to offer you anything but support. The most important thing to do is to call your doctor. They can offer answers; we can offer support. 🖤

Re: *TW* Bleeding / Spotting / Threatened miscarriage thread

  • So glad I found this thread. I’m wondering if anyone has any personal experience with something I’m dealing with.

To start, I’ve had 2 pregnancies and both were very uneventful. Got pregnant, had babies, the end.

This one is interesting. I got a positive test one day, and the next day had some bleeding. I assumed miscarriage. But then the bleeding stopped and turned to spotting (only when wiping). My HCG was tested and went from: 51, 185, 342 within just a few days. The problem according to my doc is an incredibly low progesterone of 2.1. She sent me to the ER for potential ectopic pregnancy even though I’m experiencing no pain or cramping. ER didn’t see anything anywhere.

Anywayyyyy back to spotting again tonight after a day’s reprieve.

I can’t get a hold of my doc until Monday at which time I’m due for another draw.

Has anyone experienced this? No doctor seems to have any answers for me.

  • @boymama_sam my daughter was that way! Bleeding all the way up through my second trimester with no apparent cause.
I had what was likely implantation bleeding right when my first period was due.
I’m glad your doctor is monitoring it!
It’s totally normal not to see anything yet. Especially an ER US is usually not as sensitive as one intended for very early pregnancy detection(like at a RE office) - even the ones the obgyn uses are usually around 6 weeks before they see anything and 8 weeks before they see a heartbeat. Fingers crossed this works out for you but I wouldn’t assume anything yet.

I'm not sure what's going on, but yesterday I turned a pink dye test positive, and then today I turned a blue dye test negative? I'm guessing I may be out and it may be a CP. Or a dud test. Fx for the latter. I'll test again tomorrow, but I sincerely hope I get to stay here in f24.

  • The baby is gone. Measuring 8 w 6d, no heartbeat. Happy and healthy Feb ladies.

  • @sejica I don't know a lot about the tests, but I have heard that blue dye tests are particularly unreliable and a lot of people recommend only using pink dye. Fingers crossed that another test will give a better result.

    @charmedlifex3 I'm so sorry.

Just looking for some support and help. I am 7wk 1 day. Found out about 2 weeks ago. I'm 39- didn't think I could have kids and this is a wonderful surprise. Had intercourse two nights ago and started spotting the next morning but it was light and was told by my OB that was normal and to call if it got worse, etc. Yesterday it was red and consistently more heavy so I went in for an ultrasound and to meet with my OB- heard heartbeat (124bmp- measured 6 wks 2 days) said everything looked ok and light bleeding this early can be normal. I wasn't cramping and overall felt fine besides the bleeding. Scheduled me for four weeks out and went home. Fast forward to this morning the bleeding has gotten a bit worse- very small clots- not soaking a pad but bleeding like a period on a moderate day and have started cramping as well. Nothing unbearable but I just would like any feedback from other moms. This is only my second pregnancy and I've never had a miscarriage- even with the reassurance from the doctor and hearing the heartbeat I am obviously worried.
  • @kristinwares83 That sounds scary and stressful. Bleeding in pregnancy can be pretty common. Subchorionic hemorrhage can be a common cause and some people just have unexplained bleeding and still have healthy babies. It might be worth checking in with your doctor again if your bleeding has gotten a little worse and you are having some cramping. There is nothing a doctor can do if the worst is happening, but sometimes it is helpful to know what is going on one way or the other. Fingers crossed it is just SCH. <3

  • @sejica I'm sorry you're out! Hoping May '24 is your time!
  • Had a very scary day yesterday. Was at my gym and doing some weightlifting that I normally did pre-pregnancy and halfway through class I started bleeding a lot. It was not clots but was bright red and like a heavy flow period day. I was able to get an ultrasound and baby is fine (13 weeks). No rupture in uterus or placenta but blood pooling in cervix. Doctor says no working out for two weeks and no sex! I wish there was a way to know exactly what did it! I think it must be something related to my workout routine but they also say that I didn’t cause this. Bleeding can be unpredictable they say. Really crazy!!
  • @tangocasual so glad baby is doing well. I’m sorry you had such a scare.
