Re: Product spotlight: maternity clothes and pillows

  • For maternity stuff I would stalk motherhood.com for sales and stock up. I have also had success with StitchFix, they send really cute stuff but it tends to be pricey. I've also had a lot of success with Old Navy and Amazon for those bargain purchases. At this point I have a pretty sizable maternity wardrobe, but I usually add a few pieces every pregnancy, and I already bought myself two maxi dresses from Amazon for this one.

As for body pillow I splurged and got the Leachco Snoogle Total Body Pillow. It is amazing. For my second pregnancy I got the navy cover to replace the white one it came with because that one was looking gross, but otherwise it was still great. The one downside is that it is annoying if you want to turn over in the middle of the night, but since it was painful for me to lie on my right side it wasn't that big a deal.

  • Advice on maternity clothes - avoid the cheap maternity pants, they always disappoint. Make the investment in a couple of pairs of decent maternity jeans that work well for you and you'll be much happier (I think my favorites were from Motherhood, but like @mrosek91 I have a lot from Old Navy)! I got a belly band my first pregnancy and was able to wear a lot of my regular pants through moat of the pregnancy - I know it doesn't work for everyone, but it did work well for me. (I didn't use it as much my second pregnancy because I carried lower.) You can also shop thrift stores or Mercari/similar sites - a lot of people get maternity clothes but hardly use them, so you can often get nice stuff for cheap.

I am totally here for maternity pillow recommendations! For the past 2 pregnancies I wasn't able to have one because we have a small bed and there just wasn't enough room, but these days MH mostly sleeps in his own bed (insomnia), so I have the bed to myself!

  • I shopped at Target and Old Navy last time but their stuff tended toward the casual, and while I could get away with that last time, I’m in a more business oriented office, so I’d appreciate tips on where to go for maternity business casual.
  • I went the maternity tank and cardigan route. Didn’t have to get new cardigans, and had the option for skirts (below the bump), leggings, or jeans. The maternity jeans from pink blush worked well for me, and the leggings from beyond yoga are kinda $$ but so soft and comfy! Probably won’t get much if any new this time, but we’ll see how I’m feeling when it’s colder this winter!
  • Oh, a couple more recs -
I love Kindred Bravely stuff, especially their high waisted leggings, which I still wear on the regular (and have pockets!)

I also really like the Latched Mama Momper/Romper Dress for pregnancy, post partum/breastfeeding, and beyond.

  • pink blush maternity was always my fav /go to!! They give coupons all the time, too! They closed our motherhood so no maternity stores physically here anymore.

Shein has a ton of stuff too! Cheap and good quality 😅

i just stack pillows, i can’t justify a huge pillow bc I’m a stickler on my bed being made and can’t deal with that pillow on top hahah! Usually towards the end i sleep on our recliner anyways, i had horrible round ligament pain my last pregnancy so getting up from bed felt impossible.

Echoing what others have said old navy and target are great for budget friendly options. Motherhood maternity was my fav with DS1 because we had a store here back then but it has since closed. They’re a bit pricy but I feel like everything held up well. Check marketplace and consignment stores too. Maternity clothes are worn for such a short time you can get nicer things for less preloved. A cardigan over a maternity tank is my usual go to and I love a maxi skirt vs maternity jeans. It annoys me to constantly pull the jeans up.

I didn’t see H&M recommended but the one near me had a small maternity section. I liked their nursing tanks for the added length both during pregnancy and afterward when nursing.
