I survived solo parent camping with both kiddos.... barely. It went pretty good, but I did learn that both kids get carsick 🤮 We're home now, and my bed has never felt so good 😍

@night_nurse Yep! The kids were having a predictably hard time getting to sleep, so I just went to bed early with them, so no one noticed that I wasn't drinking, and I got to get a bit more sleep. I have another camping trip in a couple weeks, this time with my parents and siblings, so we'll see how that goes 🤞

@hedgepig great job! solo parenting is never easy, doing it on a trip is superhuman.
Lots to report here...
I ended up telling one of my best friends and my parents. (Sorry... not sorry... I keep it a secret because my husband wants me to, but it's always a struggle.) Friday I was struggling with fatigue and nausea, and DH wasn't available, so I texted a friend who has 6 kids "[Husband] wants us to be strict about the whole 12 weeks thing, so I can't share with you that I'm struggling with fatigue and nausea, but how do we keep doing this?! I really need to go make my chicken for Shabbos." She was great, and reminded me to take it one moment at a time. My parents live in Israel and come out for long trips two or three times a year. My sister mentioned that they are currently planning their Winter '24 trip, so I figured I better tell them, to make sure I'm included in their calculations, they were so happy, it was great.
My nanny is currently on summer vacation, so we signed my daughter (2yo) up for camp, we figured it would be good practice since she starts school (at the same location) in the fall, but I was still super nervous. My boys all had a horrible time adjusting, and mornings were always full of tears and often they had to be carried into the building by staff the first week. The Director kept saying they can only take my daughter if she's not like the boys, the camp is not as equipped as the school to handle difficult children, and I kept telling her, don't worry she's much more easy-going than her brothers, but off course I worried anyway. DH did the drop off, and said that as soon as he put her on the ground she was running to the building, and she was halfway up the stairs before DS3 was even fully out of the car The director told my husband "She looks like a [last name], but she's not acting like a [last name]"
@mrosek91 Good for you for sharing with the folks who you want to! I did tell my two besties too - we had been all on a trip together and talking about plans to have more kids. I got my BFP the day after I got home, so I wanted to tell them because we'd been talking about it so much!
That's great about your daughter - it must have been such a relief, and must be nice to have her at camp so you get bit of a break during this tired first trimester.

@hedgepig I’m so impressed you solo camped and didn’t spill the beans and handled carsick kiddos during first tri symptoms. Supermom.
@mrosek91 love that you have one of your besties for support and that your parents will be able to coordinate their visit with you. You have me dreaming of sending my kids to camp next week😂 I’m glad your daughter went happily. This will be the first time for both my boys so I'm hoping they both go easily as well.
For the last 1.5 years I’ve watched my neighbors baby because childcare is nearly impossible to find near us and our husbands work together. They finally got him in daycare mid June so I’ve been purging the playroom of broken, missing, no longer used toys and packing away the birth-2yo toys I had out for him for the last month. My husband assembled the new trofast shelves for our playroom this weekend while I nursed my migraine so I’m hoping I can get all their things put away in new homes this afternoon and finally have a clean playroom for 5 minutes. Wish me luck and more energy than I currently have.
Update on the onesie/telling the dad situation; I finally decided on the onesie and I really liked @kmw611 ‘s idea of having one the baby can wear so I just made 2. I went with “how does daddy sound” and “shit just got real.” Now I just have to figure out how to post a picture on here…
I’m still really nervous about telling him on Friday!! Cross your fingers and toes and probably legs too (since we all have to pee every 30 seconds) for me! Also if anyone feels like sharing their out of wedlock first baby story, I think that would be a good read. Haha.
@kmw611 I'm so jealous of the toy purging, I really need to do that, but I don't have the energy to do, or to deal with the responses from my hoarder children when they discover "their favorite" toy gone.

Maybe this belongs in symptoms, but these cravings will not stop, anytime a podcast I'm listening to, or a book I'm reading mentions foods I instantly need it. Yesterday a podcast mentioned Oreos, and now I cannot stop thinking about Oreos, even though they are my least favorite type of cookie, and never something I would buy.
@mrosek91 it needed to happen so badly. I don’t let the kids in during purge round one though. They get kicked out of the house with dad while I get rid of the broken and miss matched stuff. Then I let them decide what they don’t use anymore to give away or consign. That last bit of the purge took me out yesterday. I was laying on my boys bedroom floor lazy parenting by the time my husband got home to rescue me from kid duty.😂 but the playroom looks so much better now. The new birthday toys and games can fit in there nicely and I moved all the books over to the kids room so they will hopefully survive longer. They spent a solid hour just reading quietly while I cooked dinner and it was glorious.
I just found out I’m pregnant over the weekend. Currently ~4w.
My mom is visiting from across the country. She’s currently at the other end of the state from me, visiting her sister. Next Tuesday (week 5), I have to drive 4.5 hrs to pick her up and 4.5 hours back to visit more friends/family on this side of the state.
I fear that drive with every fiber in my constantly-peeing and (worseningly) nauseous being.
Then in 2 weeks she’ll stay with us for a week (week 7).
And we’re trying to avoid letting anyone know until week 10-12ish (especially my family - news spreads like a wildfire playing telephone)
So of course, I decide to finally get the dental work my dentist has been bugging me about for the past 3 years. And then I get an ulcer in my mouth. And then I find out I’m pregnant, so I’m SOL on pain (Tylenol doesn’t touch it).
We’re dogsitting and the doggie smell is making me sick. I feel bad so I keep it to myself and keep thinking, “Just until Saturday.”
@toots_mcgee Good luck. I can’t imagine driving that far even while not pregnant, and keeping it under wraps too.
@toots_mcgee It’s getting there. I feel you on news spreading among family. Last time, DH told his mom, who told his uncle, who told his grandmother, who told everybody. That Thanksgiving was very awkward with everyone staring at me until I figured out what must’ve happened. So instead of waiting another month as planned I had to confirm the rumor then. Ah, family. :) My family keeps their mouths shut, but I won’t say anything till next month since that’s the latest I can hold off before they’ll find out.
@toots_mcgee we went on vacation with my entire immediate and extended family when i was 6-7 weeks pregnant with my first. No one suspected anything! Severe nausea didn’t kick in until after we were back thankfully
Can anyone offer any advice/resources on gently weaning a boob crazed toddler?
This pregnancy came a little sooner than we were planning and I wasn’t prepared to wean my 16 month old. I’m only considering weaning because of persistent light bleeding. I have a history of an irritable uterus and preterm labor which are complicating my decision.
For context, my daughter nurses multiple times a day and overnight still as we bed-share. She is very *spirited* and the epitome of a strong willed child. I’m already sad about ending her role as the baby sooner than we had thought and become even more sad thinking about ending nursing her. I really would not be considering it if it wasn’t for the bleeding I am having.
@night_nurse My kids were both ready to wean when the time came, so this may not be particularly helpful for a boob crazed LO, but - even though you would rather not, it may wind up being better to wean her early, so she doesn't associate the weaning with the new baby. When I weaned my son, we replaced the evening milk drink (which was the main one) with a special drink, like warm frothed milk with a bit of honey and he liked that so much that he was fine with it. He was a little older though, so maybe not as helpful?

I ended up convincing the boyfriend to come over yesterday instead of Friday. I decided to go a little more low key and just show him the test. I suck at starting hard conversations so it turned into him telling me about his day/past week for about 15 minutes and at one point he mentioned the cruise we were planning on going on in December and I just blurted out “we can’t go on the cruise!” And then handed him the positive test. Haha. He said “holy sh**” about twenty times and they went from shocked to happy sounding. He basically said that he has always seen a future for us, even before this, and that he’s really excited. We both agreed that while it’s not the ideal timeframe we would have planned for we’re at an age where we’re just excited it’s even possible. He got to the point where he was going through baby names and I told him I had planned to tell him a different way that probably would have been way more overwhelming and asked if he wanted to see. He said yeah so I showed him the onesies and he got a little tear in his eyes and said “a living thing fits into these?!” Haha. He’s still processing obviously but he’s so excited and I’m really excited and now we’re just playing the waiting game until the first ultrasound to share with family.
We did tie dying with my brother and sister-in-law and the kiddos and they turned out really good!
In less good news, we were having a LOT of trouble with bedtime, so we had to drop my 2.5 year old's nap, at the same time as we have decided to stop screen time for a while, and my exhausted, nauseous pregnant ass is struggling 😵

@kmw611 Thanks 😊 Bedtime is already so much better, 🤞 it continues! I was laughing today telling her that "you're a big girl who doesn't need a nap anymore, but mommy does, so please get off me so I can rest" 🤣🤣🤣

Either TB is super buggy or I'm loosing my mind, this is the second time that I'm sure I posted something, and when I come back to check in, it's still a draft in the reply box, and not posted.
what I said yesterday was: @emily_313 These hormones are so crazy I'm tearing up over your story. Also I love the onesies, and the HP sheet they're on.
what I came to add today. A family friend is visiting with her 5 kids, (her husband didn't come because he couldn't get off of work) so we have 10 kids 10 and under in the house for three days, with 3 adults. Wish me luck!
I bought one of those Ava bracelets secondhand because it has a pregnancy mode and I’m curious to see how everything looks throughout the night, it’s pretty cool for how things look and how baby is developing each week.
I got it for a steal (person was selling it only $100.00) when the item goes for $400.00 USD brand new, and converting that to Canadian dollars it’s well over $500.00. Our dollar is awful lol
@mrosek91 wow that sounds super busy but so fun! I was having trouble posting yesterday too.
My husband rolled his ankle the other day when he was spraying a massive wasp nest we found on the patio. It swelled up pretty quickly by otherwise just seemed like a sprain. Today he unwrapped it to tighten the wrapping and he was covered in bruises😐 still won’t go to the urgent care to get it checked out though.
The dog is back with his owner. My nose is so thankful. Almost spilled the beans to the seven year old. Can’t do that, because he doesn’t know the meaning of the word secret, lol. And I’ve come up with my nickname for the baby until we get an official name: Lucky!
@tangiblycool Let us know ow how the Ava bracelet works for you! I have been super curious about them too. I didn't realize you are up in Canada - I love the CAD when I am buying stuff from up there, but it must really suck to go the other way 😭
@hedgepig much better. Still really tender but the bruising is going down. I didn’t finally convince him to go get it looked at and he didn’t break anything thankfully
So we have a family bday today and another tomorrow, then a camping trip with extended family for ~10 days. Between turning down drinks and the extra tired, I feel like I’m being super obvious. Ahhhh. At least I’ve not hit the super nausea yet. Wish me luck socializing like a normal person and not spilling the beans….
@halfanewt Good luck! I thought people were going to be more suspicious of me at our recent gatherings, but they seemed pretty oblivious 😁 If you're a beer drinker, I used to just get an empty can or bottle and fill with water and refill all night. No one questions it as long as you have something in your hand!

We have been at schlitterbahn the past few days with family and staying in the same condo as them and turning down rides, the bloat in my swim suit and just weird things that are happening to me now my SIL guessed and so we confirmed it with her and her husband and my in laws. They know we want it a secret but it was near impossible. The excuses i had to come up with for not riding the water slides and stuff at this huge water park we’re getting out of hand and slim. 😂😂 it’s kind of nice having someone to talk to about it (family wise) that i know will keep a steel trap.
Other than that we still aren’t sharing 😂 idk how you did that @hedgepig
