Covid in early pregnancy

On Wednesday, June 21st I tested positive for Covid. First time getting it. I somehow managed to evade it for 3+ years. Had a fever of about 100° for 1.5-2 days and then just a sore throat for a few days past that. I had heard that Covid can disrupt your period so I genuinely thought that’s why my period was late. On a whim, I took a pregnancy test last Sunday, June 25th and it was positive, putting me at around 4 weeks and 3 days that day. My fiancé and I had been trying to get pregnant for the past year to no success. This is my first pregnancy and what are the odds that I finally get pregnant and finally get Covid at the exact same time?! I’m allergic to Tylenol and had been taking ibuprofen for days to keep the fever down. Now I’ve read way too much about the harm that fevers in early pregnancy can cause and the dangers of taking ibuprofen in early pregnancy. I went into urgent care for a blood test at 4 weeks and 4 days and my hcg was 922, which seems normal? I’m anxious. I couldn’t get into my obgyn until July 13th and these days are passing by at snails speed. Did anyone else have Covid and fever in really early pregnancy and still have a healthy pregnancy and birth? I’ve found myself convinced that this is a blighted ovum and I’m going to go in on the 13th to find that it’s not actually a growing fetus. Is it normal to feel that way? Has anyone else struggled with feeling that way?

Re: Covid in early pregnancy

  • I had COVID when I was about 8 weeks pregnant, had a fever and other flu like symptoms.  I took Tylenol for the fever and just rested.  Then gave birth to a healthy baby girl!  She’ll be 1 yr old tomorrow!
