We decided on Evelyn Veda for our little one. Middle name is to honor MIL, the only grandparent we hadn't named one of our kids for yet because she kept fighting it-- she hates her name, lol. But I thought it worked well with Evelyn.
@chrissdee I LOVE that name ♥️ with my first son I wanted to either call him joseph (he would have been a 3rd) or use my husbands and his dads middle name at least (Dean) but he was adamant he wanted our son to have his own unique name. Him and his dad have had plenty of mixups over the years— with mail, bills, credit cards etc. and he doesn’t want any of our kids to deal with that lol and for his middle name he just doesn’t like it… I actually love Dean! I guess it’s grown on him because for this baby he said he wants to use his and his dads middle name for our boy’s middle name. So, we decided on Nathaniel Dean 🥰
@ashsowers2020 my husband won’t let us name our baby after him either 😂
Im a in a pickle with the name. I want to name our son Robert after my grandpa. He was the greatest man I’ve ever known and was a huge part of my life until he passed of cancer in 2019. I miss him desperately. Anyway, my husband is totally on board. He also loved my grandpa very much and my husband likes solid classic names lol. The issue is, my husband’s step dad’s name is Robert. We have a wonderful relationship with him. He’s the best pappy ever to my kids. He’s the greatest. We adore him. My husband’s bio dad is also in his life. We are close with him as well but the relationship is complicated and always has been. That side of the family is very small and my husband was the last one of their name. Now this boy will be the last one of their name. My husband couldn’t care less about carrying on his last name lol, but it’s important to his family and having the last boy share a name with my husband’s step dad is sure to step on their toes 🫠. I don’t want to hurt them and I’m really hoping they can understand that his namesake would be my late grandpa. My peace offering is to make the middle a family name from that side and maybe all will be well lol. We’ll see. My heart is pretty set on Robert, though and my husband knows that.
@Kiek That sounds like a tough situation, but hopefully they understand that the namesake is actually your grandfather. For the record, I'm partial to the name Robert myself. It's my dad's name, and he's basically the best person I've ever known. We named our son, who is now 3, after both him and my husband (Robert Matthew). It's a good, solid name, and even though it's a classic and common name, I don't hear it much anymore as a baby name.
@Kiek I love the name Robert! I wouldn’t worry about anyone’s feelings but your own. I get his family’s wishes, but this is yours and your husbands baby. He likes the name, you love the name, go for it, mama! I also like the idea of a middle name from that side of the family
@Kiek I think if you explain it’s after your grandpa and pick a middle name from their side they *should* hopefully understand!
I’m driving my husband nuts because I can’t pick a name. We’re deciding between Theodore (Teddy) and Francis (Frank). I really like both. I love Theodore more but it’s so popular it’s making it hard to commit to it. But I also can’t commit to Frank because this is our last baby and it just seems like such a huge decision

@varimama I love both names 🥰 and I love that you think of nicknames with the name too because I totally did that with every name I chose haha and I get it being a hard decision knowing it’s your last baby. I struggled with it too, not knowing if we will have any more after this or if he is our last. So many factors were considering. This is the quickest my husband and I agreed on a name though haha
@Kiek - Our oldest is named Robert. He's a 6th generation Robert but they all have different middle names (and there's still issues with billing and insurance stuff even though they all have different middle names and birthdays!). It is a good solid name and it's definitely grown on me. His nickname is Bert. ❤️ I agree that hopefully explaining that he'll be named after your grandpa will head off any frustration on their end.
@chrissdee - Our Robert would have been Evelyn if he had been a girl so I'm pretty partial to that name.
@varimama - I love Theodore! Teddy is the cutest nickname.
@ashsowers2020 - I don't know why Nathaniel didn't come up on our radar but that's a great name. And it goes well with Dean!
We decided on Benjamin Lawrence (Lawrence after my paternal grandpa and Benji for short) for a boy and either Kathryn (Kat for short) Celeste or Kathryn Joy for a girl. I'm torn because I really don't like the name Joy but it goes with my other girls' middle names, Faith and Grace. Hope would go with Faith and Grace as well but I like that name even less.
@UnwritteN12 I may be partial here because I have a Benjamin (we call him Benji too haha) but I love the name!! 😄 if we were having a girl her name would have been Olivia Grace. I love the middle names you chose for your girls and if you have a girl I actually love Joy and Hope (even though you don’t like that name lol) both do sound great with Kathryn.
I think it's interesting how similar we all seem to be in the style of names we're choosing. Definitely seems to be trending towards the more classic or old-fashioned names as opposed to the trendy or "unique" names. Nothing against those name styles at all, I just really love all these more classic names.
Y'all are making me feel very behind here! I know I'm pulling up the rear of the group in terms of due dates as it is (11/29), but we haven't even started talking about names yet
Our only "rule" with names is that it has to be a Spanish name that is easy to say for English speakers. My husband is Hispanic, most of his family only speaks Spanish, so we try to represent that aspect of their culture with the names, but we still want it to be easy for my side of the family and for friends/schoolmates etc to say. My husband's name is very much not easy for English speakers to say and he's just had to become accustomed to the incorrect English pronunciation becoming his new name, which I don't want for our kids.
@chrissdee I guess I'll be the oddball with also choosing more unique names! Since we choose Spanish names, they are automatically more "unique" relative to traditional English names, but my daughter's name is a very beautiful Spanish name... but since it's so unique I'll wait to share it until we are in a more private forum
I guess we should start keeping a list of names! We didn't name our daughter until maybe a day or two after her birth and I have a feeling this one will get the same treatment.
These are all great names! I love reading through everyone's thought process.
We had sooo many girl names because we both wanted a girl. Haha, whoops! The universe had other plans. As soon as we found out it is a boy, we kicked it into high gear with figuring out a name and we found one pretty easily. The name we've selected is Finian Sage. Originally we wanted him to go by Sage because my husband goes by his middle name and we like that tradition. But when we decided on Finian, we ended up liking that more for the name we will call him day to day. Nicknames will be plentiful I'm sure (we are a nickname household), but so far we think two of them will be Fin and Fini.
We’re having a Benjamin David. We’re calling him ‘Benny’ or as my son says “Benjamin Bunny”. His first name isn’t after anyone, but his middle name is my brother in laws first name. My brother in law is 13 years older than my significant other and had a huuuuge part in raising him in the absence of his father. So we felt it appropriate!
If we were having a girl, she would have been Everleigh Ryann.
It didn't start out the intention but after the first two we went with it and we have all C names. We're having our 5th boy so our work is cut out for us coming up with a 5th boy C name! We have a few ideas but nothing we are set on yet.
@runsoncoffee That would be hard! We didn't follow a letter theme for our boys, and we are currently stuck figuring out a name if baby #4 is also a boy.
We agreed on the name and fixed the name conundrum that I think will avoid any hurt feelings! His name is Robert David 🤎. Robert for my late grandpa and David for my husband’s late uncle who was tragically killed in a car accident back in 2020. My husband is very much like that uncle in so many ways. Both marines and then pipe fitters/welders. It’s fitting. Baby boy will have some big namesakes looking out for him🤎
We thought for sure ours was going to be a boy but shifted gears when we found out she will be a girl… her name will be Claire Margaret, Margaret is my husbands great grandmothers name - and was the first teacher in a string of teachers in each generation on that side of the family. My hubby teaches high school math.

i Love the sentiment behind all the names and to see the thought process behind them ♥️
