Weekend Randoms July 8 & 9

Use this thread to post random thoughts, what you’re up to, or questions for the group.

In past BMB it was more successful for us to have a weekday randoms thread M-F and then one for the weekends. As more people join it may help with organization. Let me know what everyone thinks!

Re: Weekend Randoms July 8 & 9

  • My first full weekend off in forever. We have NOTHING planned and I love it. Feel like we have been on the move for weeks and feels nice to just relax (as much as you can with kids).

  • @night_nurse I love a nice organized BMB - thank you!

We're going to the grand opening of the new playground structure at the park in our tiny town, and then two towns over to go to Costco/grocery shopping #ruralliving 🫠

We just got a chest freezer, so I'm excited to start filling it up!

  • @hedgepig I just got a chest freezer too! Not going to be able to use it until the end of August, after basement repairs are finished, but I'm REALLY looking forward to filling it up with par baked goods so I can still have good homemade meals ready to just throw in the oven later. So convenient!
  • I was hoping to be productive with my weekend. Not exactly sure how. But the weather and my body have conspired to make me take it easy ^^;

Guess today is gonna be an easy one with fuzzy blankets, lemon ginger tea, and random internet videos. Maybe browse Ravelry for more knitting ideas if my brain is up for it.
  • Organized BMBs make me very happy. I was annoyed by how long it took TB to open this up, hopefully we'll get some fun threads going soon.

Yesterday was a pretty typical Saturday for us, spent the morning at synagogue, and then the afternoon trying to convince the kids they could entertain themselves, so that we could rest.

Most Sundays the kids go to my MIL, so I'm spending the morning cleaning, and on some volunteer bookkeeping work I do, and then this afternoon, a Zoom craft group I'm in is having a IRL meet-up at a Chinese restaurant, so super excited about that.

I don't want to crowd the intro thread with conversations, so I'm moving some of my replies here.
@emjeve @k_sims @momlyfe29 so nice to have more 5th time moms here. It's probably that I notice them more, but it always feels like whatever number child I'm on, that's the most common in my BMB, I thought it would be different this time, since 5 is so rare, but there are already 4 of us.   :D

@night_nurse My first two sound like yours. DS1 (7yo) is like an old man in a child's body, and DS2 (5yo) is a wild child. All my children are less than 2 years apart, and love it. This one will actually be my biggest gap, (DD will be almost 3 when this LO arrives) and I'm worried that I'm setting this baby up for a lonely life. Age gaps are so unpredictable and every child reacts differently, but of course we can't help obsessing over them.

@hilaryrose1488 Good luck on keeping it from your 9 yo, I'm in a similar boat with my 7yo he's so perceptive, and picks up on everything. I'm having to be super careful, and off course he loves to read over my shoulder, so no checking TB while he's around.
  • My dad took the kids for a walk and MH is weedeating, so I get some miraculous quiet time to clean house 😅

  • @mrosek91 so exciting!
My age gap is going to be so far 😂 i guess extra help? Lol!
Oldest two girls are 8 and 7
Then my twin boys will be 5 this month.

    Chinese food sounds amazing!!
    Enjoy the food and fellowship!
  • @hedgepig i did the grocery pick up alone, in the quiet, today and I was literally looking forward to it for days 😂
  • @mrosek91 my two are just over 4 yrs apart part and now that my second is over a year old they are so close and live playing together
  • @k_sims so much help from older siblings!
  • This will (obviously) be my oldest pregnancy so I’m curious if it’ll be much different for me. Pregnancy AND energy wise. I’m 29 now, i had all four of my littles by 24, so not too far, but still.
Mainly just Really praying for ONE baby this time 🤞🏻😅
  • Weekend wrap-up: Thought I was gonna take it easy all weekend, but today I got bit by the energy bug or something and ended up making a big skillet Shepard's pie from scratch 😅

    Upside: Lots of Shepard's pie!

Downside: It gave me my first case of heartburn so far this pregnancy.
