How to undo the effects of stress?

Hi!

I'm new here, made the account specifically to discuss this.

I'm in my 29th week of pregnancy, and around a month and a half ago some stressful events started in my life, many of which have triggered memories and unresolved trauma from the past.

I genuinely haven't been feeling well psychologically for all this time, and at certain times I was extremely stressed out. I haven't had enough strength to resist the bad feelings which makes me feel extra guilty so it's a vicious cycle in a way.

The ultrasound of the baby is great, but I am freaking out about potential harm I may have caused that is still not visible.

I can't take back what happened so far, but how can I make the best of it? Is there anything in particular that works to undo or at least alleviate the effects my stress has had on the baby so far?

  • People say that stress is bad for the baby, and I’m sure it’s not good. But people have babies in war zones, extreme famines, in dangerous domestic environments, etc all the time and have for millennia. I would say focus on what you can control to make your situation better and prevent future stress rather than stressing about the stress you had in the past. A therapist may help give you some tools to better manage your stress.
