Re: Weekly Check In - w/o 06/29

  • Trying hard to keep this board alive 🥲🥲

    Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days:Sept 20 / 28+1

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM+

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise:  surprise

Upcoming appointments: next is July 10!

I had a growth ultrasound today and baby is already 3lbs. 😅 They didn’t let us get many photos of their face as they covered it the whole time so no 3D photos.

How are you feeling: good! Tired and taking power naps when I can manage it in my work day. Pros of working from home!

Rants / Raves: So many things to get done and so little time!! I can’t believe it’s basically July. 🤯

    Questions:

GTKY: Oh I forgot to post this lol. It was to be “what’s your favourite part about summer?” I’ll see if I can edit it.

I love summer and the heat. Being able to go outside with little thought and no layers. It’s great.

    Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: September 18 / 28w3d
    Team Boy/Girl/surprise: Surprise!
Upcoming appointments: Obgyn and nutritionist in two weeks and I should get a call to schedule a 32 weeks US soon.
How are you feeling: Still exhausted, still nauseaous, but otherwise I feel like I'm a bit more optimistic than at the start of the pregnancy. I think feeling baby moving and kicking helped a lot.
Rants / Raves: I was hoping to control my gestational diabetes with only nutrition... But my fasting level is high every other day, so it's looking as though that will not work.
    Questions: Not really
GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer? To be confortable swimming outside. And summer BBQ. And long sunny days. There's a lot I love about summer.

@wanderlustsoul Thank you for keeking this board alive. I really appreciate it!
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: Sept 3/30w+4days

    FTM/STM/STM+: 2nd baby

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise: its a girl!

Upcoming appointments: next week I get to do the 3 hour glucose test

How are you feeling: tired, sore and emotional like DUMB emotional 🤣

Rants / Raves: I'm exhausted today between glucose testing, finally being told I'm anemic and just a long day... I'm spent.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer? I DON'T like summer haha its already hitting 113° this week where I live and its just not a fun time around here 😅 and add being pregnant to the heat... man!
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: Sept. 23/27+6

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise: Surprise

Upcoming appointments: not until after traveling back to the US for 3 weeks!

How are you feeling: Right now, pretty good. Last night I would say terrible haha

Rants / Raves: We moved across the country! We traveled in the car with four cats and three turtles for 36 hours. It was wild and I hope to never need to do it again. But so far we're enjoying the new city and we found a good hospital for me to deliver in! On Monday I'm flying back to the US for three weeks. Not sure how it'll go, especially coming back when I'm 31 weeks pregnant. But here's hoping for the best.

Questions: Did anyone do hypnobirthing or plan to do it? My plan is to do hypnobirthing and try no epidural. I'm getting annoyed though because every time I share this with people (including the hospital), they say I'm gonna need an epidural no matter what. The hospital even said "9/10 people get one, the 1/10th that don't are having a secojd or third child so it was too fast". I feel like it's not supportive but this was the only hospital that allows free birthing position. The rest highly encourage/require you to lay on your back the entire labor+delivery process. Sorry, feel like this could be in the rant section instead haha

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer?
Swimming!! I love swimming at the pool. Not really swimming so much as just bobbing around in the water
  • @wanderlustsoul is the growth ultrasound usually around 28 weeks? My hospital said 30-32 weeks, so I planned to do it right when I come back. Not sure if that's too late since the last US was 24 weeks

@froggerblue that sucks about the GD. I'm hoping for the best! Luckily you're keeping a close eye on it :)

@azmamatobe the summer heat has been hitting me hard too. It gets around 110 here with 80%+ humidity. Pair that with a hot flash and it's miserable!
  • @mokamonster usually here they do not do another ultrasound unless needed. But as we suspected baby was big, they wanted to do a growth ultrasound. I also have another one scheduled for 32 weeks to check growth again but also the kidneys to see if anything has changed.

Yay for moving and good luck with your travels! I definitely recommend the hypnobirthing. It’s great. I used it with my first and, though eventually I had to get an epidural after 40 hours of labour, I was med free the entire beginning part of it. If I had a normal birth, I likely would have been able to but the pain of the induced contractions at the end were too much.

@froggerblue I’m sorry the diet alone isn’t helping. Will you need to take insulin?

@azmamatobe I can understand why you’d hate the summer heat when it’s so hot. 😅

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • @wanderlustsoul It's not decided yet, as my doctor and nutritionist want me to experiment with my diet for a whole two weeks before starting to take insuline. So I have a couple other things to try, but as this first week went by, and fasting glucose hasn't dropped down at all, it doesn't seem like I can easily manage it with nutrition and physical activities only. We'll see how it goes.

    very late post!

Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: mid Sept, 29 weeks

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise: Surprise

    Upcoming appointments: 7/14

How are you feeling: good, a little tired here and there. rested and caught up on sleep a bunch this past weekend. we are in the middle of a home project which is mildly stressful (think completely rebuilding two exterior walls), but i'm excited for the end result. we put together my daughter's twin bed this weekend, and i'm waiting on her new quilt and some small decor updates.

Rants / Raves: got on the peloton for first time in 2 months! didn't feel awful, just did a 15 min low impact and then 20 min prenatal yoga. really need to work this into my routine

    Questions: natm.

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer? going to the beach!! we're so lucky my parents have a house big enough that our daughter has her own room, and so do we.

  • @wanderlustsoul thanks for making posts!!
@froggerblue fingers crossed for you with the GD management - have you talked to a nutrionist about any of it?
@azmamatobe assuming you're in AZ, and yea once it's over like 95 i don't care if its "dry" heat. it's just gross.
@mokamonster i'm so glad the move went well!! but yea, that's exhausting. i wanted to avoid an epidural with my first, i did not do any prep, i just figured i'm tough i got this. i made it to 5cm before i tapped out and elected an epidural. i went into labor on my own at about 10pm, and remained epidural free until 3am. i was getting close to 24hrs of being awake (not 24 hours of labor) and i was just tired. had i known i would give birth at 6.24am maybe i would've held out?! i dunno. i have zero regrets getting one - the other reality is that my placenta wound up being extremely sticky and basically was pulled out AND i had a 2nd degree tear. the OB was like listen, i heard you didn't think you wanted a epidural and all i can say right now is that if you didn't have one you would be screaming at me. soooooo there's that. that being said - i do think being up and mobile helped, and i liked that freedom - my plan this time is to be mobile for as long as i feel ok about it and then epidural. also re growth scan - my practice does them at 36w. baby is so big at that point the images are not anything to to like super oooh and ahh over in my experience. my daughter was head down, and so far down we coudn't get her face.
  • @anniemarie887 Yes, I talked to a nutritionist and will be meeting her again next week, but we couldn't make definitive changes to my diet as my "normal" glucose intake is already quite low (even in reference to a GD diet). We moved my portions around to test it out. Now I have to increase the amount of glucose so it's closer to the maximum intake allowed (which sounds weird but I still have to try it) to test that too.
  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/25 28w but will likely schedule a C-section for 39 weeks

    FTM/STM/STM+: STM

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise: team boy

Upcoming appointments: Wednesday for an ultrasound with MFM to check the placenta. I had placenta accreta with DD and they can't always tell via ultrasound when it's happening but sometimes they can, especially if it is attaching to surrounding organs. Then Thursday I have my glucose test and rhogam in the morning and regular OB in the afternoon.

How are you feeling: tired, the usual

Rants / Raves: I meant to mention this during the last check in, but our fetal echo looked great! DH has a congenital heart defect so we get a full echo for the baby.

Questions: STMs and STMs+ do you or will you get gifts for your older child/children when this baby is born?

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer? Outside activities with DD. We took her to a carnival this past weekend and she had the best time and just love watching her so much. Excited to add another kid to the mix!

  • @woodland26 this is my 2nd go-round and we bought something "from baby #2" for my first born. He's 5 and is super excited to be a big brother but I still wanted to do a little something for him ♡
  • @woodland26 we are going to do something - not exactly sure what just yet. she has a big sis t shirt and a book about becoming a big sister. but going to get some other things for when baby actually comes, and have her pick out a stuffed animal to give baby
  • @woodland26 we do! When my 2nd was born, we got my oldest a new art table and some cool toys.

Trying to decide what to do this time. Harder because my oldest has his birthday 2 weeks before this baby will be born.

The one thing I did settle on is the baby will give matching pjs to the kids. My oldest will love it. I had my oldest pick out a lovey for the baby and he loved doing that. I also want to get them some other stuff that they can use and will be exciting for when I’m occupied with the baby. But haven’t settled yet on what that will be. 😅🤔

    *Live, Love, Laugh, Learn*

  • Such cute ideas!

@anniemarie887 we got DD a big sister shirt too! She loves it.

@wanderlustsoul I love the matching PJs idea!

DD got a tonie box for Christmas so I'm thinking of getting her a few new tonies. Seems like a good thing for her to use when I'm busy with the baby. She is kind of needy when it comes to playing so trying to avoid anything she might constantly ask for help with or ask me to play with her with 😅
  • I’m so late, but I’m here!

Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days:

    Sep 25 / 28+3

    FTM/STM/STM+:

    STM+

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise:

    Girl

    Upcoming appointments:

Tuesday for the TDAP shot, then growth scan two weeks later

    How are you feeling:

It’s getting harder to roll over in bed or to get up from a laying down/sitting position. I grunt a lot these days when moving lol.

    Rants / Raves:

We bought a minivan! I don’t care how uncool it is - I love it. We went with the Odyssey because it will suit us best with three kids in car seats. The sliding seats are incredible.

    Questions:

    None

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer?

The longer days. I love getting home from work/daycare and still having enough daylight to take a family walk after dinner.

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days:

    Due 9/15, induction date 9/8

    FTM/STM/STM+:

    STM

    Team Boy/Girl/surprise:

    It's a girl!

    Upcoming appointments:

So many. 😬 I had a growth scan last week and baby measured in the 15th percentile overall but abdomen was below the 10th percentile. No cause for concern yet since her overall is above the FGR threshold, but my doctors want to keep a closer eye on her as a precautionary measure, so I have weekly BPPs for a few weeks. Then my next growth scan on the 28th, and they'll reevaluate then whether I need to continue the BPPs. Plus my regular OB check-ins every two weeks now.

    How are you feeling:

SO tired. It's so hard to sleep now. I also had to start iron supplements, so constipation has kicked in, which I hate. Stressed/anxious about the growth stuff and potential FGR, but trying not to be. I do take comfort from the fact that my doctors didn't seem too concerned!

    Rants / Raves:

I am a huge coffee drinker, and I really wish I could drink more coffee to help with this exhaustion. 😭

    Questions:

Is anyone eyeing anything baby-related for Prime day?

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer?

Love the warm weather and spending more time outside! We've had so much rain this year though, so we haven't spent as much time outside as usual. I love beach days, sitting outside on our balcony with a book and a drink, patio dining at restaurants, spending time at parks with my son -- all the things!!

    Will be back for tags!

  • Estimated Due Date / Weeks + Days: 9/19

    FTM/STM/STM+: stm+

Team Boy/Girl/surprise: boyyy💙 finally come to terms with that 😂

Upcoming appointments: this Friday just normal check in

How are you feeling: ughhhhhhhhh well if I quit signing myself up to participate in things that require walking and energy I might be a little better 😂 my lower back, my hips and my pelvic bone are all so freaking sore though. It hurts a lot some days and freaks me out.

Rants / Raves: we have done a lot on the last couple weeks, we were in our 4th of July parade, we went to two concerts and had a golden birthday party for DS. It's been busyyyy

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favourite part about summer? Being outside usually but this summer I feel like I haven't been so much. I love swimming and being in water too.
