Trying to Get Pregnant

IF Testing & Treatment w/o June 26

This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ballgame. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (if you've been):

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):

How are things going?:

Any questions?:

GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be?

Re: IF Testing & Treatment w/o June 26

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): autoimmune stuff, need progesterone

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): AF arrived yesterday so I need to get my butt in gear with scheduling a bunch of appointments. SIS and biopsy between CD6-12, eye exam, skin exam, and bloodwork. Still need to call my insurance and find out if I need pre-authorization for the one genetic test I'm missing.

How are things going?: I came down with something yesterday that had me feeling so achy and blah. Today is more aching, a slight fever (thanks BBT lol), and the chills/hot flashes. Tylenol is being a life saver right now keeping the aches at bay.

Any questions?: anyone else ever have to deal with pre-authorization or pre-determination with their insurance? Can I get the bloodwork done while they're working on that?

GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be? Gosh idk. Probably Perseverance or something like that. I've dealt with a lot of mental health issues that I'm working to improve and I sure as heck never gave up on solving my infertility. Maybe a better title would be Never Give Up? Sounds kinda cliche though haha

  • Diagnosis (if you've been): Unexplained

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Natural cycle plus acupuncture

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Acupuncture

How are things going?: AF is due tomorrow and I’ve only had BFNs so that’s disappointing. But acupuncture is doing what it is supposed to do, so that gives me some hope.

    Any questions?: Nope

GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be? Probably something like “5 year plans are for suckers.” Honestly, after the pandemic, that title would probably work for a lot of people lol
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): repeat pregnancy loss, left tube is blocked, clotting disorder.
Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): benched until I heal from the d and c scheduled for tomorrow.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): testing to figure out why I’ve had a second loss this year. We are moving to IVF from here.
How are things going?: pretty shit.
    Any questions?:
GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be? Love and loss.

I’m back. Everything else in spoiler - TW for loss.

  • @charmedlifex3 Oh no, I’m sorry you are back here again
  • Oh @charmedlifex3 I am so so sorry. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for a fast and easy recovery. Take good care ❤️
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): RPL, DOR, Ashermans

Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): Officially off the bench after surgery! Trying on our own this cycle

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Couldn’t get a follow up with my RE in time for any treatment this cycle, but have an appt next week

How are things going?: Ok. After a super wonky, likely anovulatory cycle on the bench we’ve decided to ask for some treatment. We still don’t want to do anything invasive, but thinking to ask for some unmonitored cycles with letrozole and progesterone, just to try to optimize ovulation and maybe have a chance at more than one egg. My acupuncture doc also asked me to get my thyroid tested because I have some hypo symptoms, but I remembered that the RE had tested it a few months ago. I went and looked at the results and it was 3 something. Not terrible but not ideal either. I’m not sure if it’s high enough to be treated, but I really want to ask the RE about it and try to get it into that optimal 1-2 range.

Any questions?: Anyone been treated for subclinical hypothyroid?

GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be? Maybe something like “the slow train” because I feel like everything in my life has been like that. It took me 9 years of dating to marry my husband, took 5 years after undergrad to start graduate school, and this baby I am determined to have is 2 years in the making and counting.
  • @inthewoods23 I guess insurance companies might have different policies, but mine requires pre authorization for almost everything fertility related. They authorize things like testing quickly, but for IVF they told me it would take up to 4 weeks for them to authorize it, and we would not be able to start anything until the RE got the OK from insurance.
  • @maggiemadeit I was treated for sub clinical hypothyroidism back when we first did fertility testing. I think my levels were about 4 and my doctor gave me meds for it.
  • @britters314 Thanks, that’s super helpful. Were you having any symptoms and did it help?
  • @maggiemadeit I didn’t have any symptoms (other than infertility) but it did bring my numbers down below 2 pretty quickly.
  • Diagnosis (if you've been): unexplained

    Status (TI/ICI/IUI/IVF/FET/benched): on our own

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): trying seed cycling + vit C

How are things going?: just had my wtf and change of care visit with the Re. New doc seemed nice the times we’ve met before, is a bit odd in person. Ah well. Basically we have all the options right now, as she’s still not ruling out IUI either. Yay for making decisions.

    Any questions?: not yet!

GTKY: If there was a book or movie made about your life, what would the title be?  Fake it til you make it - I’m still not 100% convinced I’m qualified to be an adult 😂
  • Just a little update that I had such a nice visit with my RE yesterday. She is so lovely. At this point anything we try is a “may not help but couldn’t hurt” situation, and she was down for my plan. I will start the lowest dose of thyroid meds, and next month start with letrozole and progesterone. Even if it doesn’t help it feels good to have a plan, and really good to have a kind and supportive doc in my corner.
