1st Trimester

Cramping experiences

I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant, I’m 5 weeks today. This is my second pregnancy, my first was a missed miscarriage that turned out to be a partial molar.

I woke up last night to some moderate cramping - it wasn’t severe but it was enough for me to be uncomfortable. It only lasted about ten minutes and was in the middle of my lower stomach. I am absolutely terrified that this is the start of another miscarriage even though I haven’t had any bleeding.

I checked in with my doctor and am now just waiting for my dating scan in two weeks.

To ease my nerves until then, I am after other people’s POSITIVE experiences where they have had some painful cramping and a healthy pregnancy. Would love your experiences :)

Re: Cramping experiences

  • I had a previous molar pregnancy, and the main symptom was bleeding- right from the beginning and every day.
I am currently 6wk+2, and I have had some minor cramping. Had ultrasound with great heart rate 2 days ago, so I am practicing positive affirmations. No good to get myself anxious- it doesn’t help either of us! I hear that cramping is Very common.
    All good vibes to you!

  • This is my first pregnancy and I'm about 7 and a half weeks. I had had mild cramping my 5th week and this week (week 7) and  only occurs at night. The cramping lasts only about 7 to 10 minutes and I feel it in the same location you described. I hope that helps you feel comfort that you're not the only one!
  • Keep an eye on the bleeding and symptoms
  • Hello! I just got a positive and am right about five weeks too. I am also pregnant after a recent miscarriage and had some mild cramping this week too. From what I've read it's normal- but yes worrisome to me too. Congratulations!
  • Thank you for the support. I am almost 8 weeks now and we saw a heartbeat at our dating scan. The cramping has calmed down as well, I don’t feel it nearly as much. Appreciate the kind words.
  • I just found out I’m 5 weeks and 2 days…. I’ve been cramping a lot. No bleeding just uncomfortable cramps. Good to know this is “normal”
