Lower back pain

Hello!

I am about 7.5 weeks along and I’ve been having lower back pain (right side) for the last maybe 5 days. Has anyone experienced this? It’s like a sharp pain that feels a lot better with a heating pad. Should I be concerned? I had of course googled and regretted that immediately. I’ve also read it’s normal but my mind can’t help but go to worse-case scenarios.

Has anyone experienced this and have any advice?

Thank you!

Re: Lower back pain

  • I've also been getting lower back pain. I have a history of lower back pain from a previous injury. It's my understanding that from early pregnancy your body produces more progesterone and relaxin in order to help stretch your ligaments to prepare for the baby. The stretched ligaments make you more prone to injury. Most likely you have pulled a muscle in your right side back without realizing it, for example from picking something off the floor. Maybe try strengthening your core muscles to help carry you through your days without the risk of pulling a muscle? And be careful lifting and carrying things.

So much lower back pain! 8 weeks in for me. Heading pad was given green light as long as have my shirt in between in and my skin and do it in 20 minute intervals (which def doesn’t seem like enough heat time for me, ha!) I’ve been doing cat/cow and child’s pose yoga stretches and those have helped significantly.
