Early positives turn out to be chemical pregnancies?

Hi there,
I got three BFP on 7 DPO and 8 DPO and looked online to see if that could be possible, and read that it's possible that a chemical pregnancy give a BFP, but then fail to implant. Has anyone struggled with this on their fertility journey? We have been trying over a year, and believed this happened once before, but I'm wondering how likely it actually is to get a positive that doesn't stick.

  • @KibbieRose The only way to diagnose a Chemical Pregnancy is to call your doctor when you get a BFP.  Then either go in for an early ultrasound or appointment for them to confirm your pregnancy.  And to get HCG beta draws to see if the numbers are doubling or not.  If they numbers are very low and don't double from the start, then it is usually a chemical PG.  Some people implant earlier than others.  7/8 DPO is probably about as early as anyone can get a BFP.  I didn't get mine until 10 DPO or later.  but, it also depends if you're POSITIVE you're 7/8 DPO based upon basal body temping, and not just guessing because some period app says so.

  • Your HCG doesn't start to rise until you implant. So if you implanted on 6DPO you might get a positive 7 or 8 DPO. But I'd say chemicals are included in that 25% chance of a miscarriage statistic.
    PG #1: 36w5d 12/25/19
    PG #2: EDD 8/15/23 Miscarried 9w1d 1/11/23
    PG #3: EDD 12/15/23
  • The only time I had a chemical was when I got a later positive. Like it took longer for implantation to occur and once it did I miscarried within 4 days. I usually get positives at 8DPO that are squinter and a clear line by 9DPO. My positive with my CP was at 10DPO.
