Alcohol Consumption - Need Advice

This is my first pregnancy, I’m 4 weeks 2 days according to the bump app today and am stressing out over the fact that after rethinking all I’ve been consuming into my body the last 4 weeks, I had two sips (cucumber vodka and rose) on my 4 week day and then 1 1/2 glass (white sangria) around by 3 1/2 week mark at social events. Will baby be okay? I’ve gone into a deep spiral of overthinking and over reading.

Re: Alcohol Consumption - Need Advice

  • I drank more than that before testing positive with my daughter. For months I had zero alcohol and didn’t get pregnant. We went on holiday and I behaved as normal; I never got drunk but drank wine, Prosecco and one weak cocktail in the week leading up to my bfp. The second I got the bfp I didn’t drink a drop for the entire pregnancy. I now have a ten year old who is just perfect - mentally and physically. In fact, she is a year ahead in school. Alcohol is dangerous to baby if you drink to the point of being drunk and if you continue to do so throughout the pregnancy. My Mum never drinks but she was at a party years ago and found out she was pregnant with my younger brother as she was so sick after her once in a blue moon night out. My brother is also of above average intelligence and wasn’t affected at all. I believe the worrying can be far worse for you and baby than a tiny one-off amount of alcohol. Just avoid it from now on and you will have nothing to worry about☺️💐

  • Ah okay thank you for sharing! I will stop reading about FAS now and try to relax.
  • Some women drink way heavier before knowing they are pregnant.  If you stop now, more likely than not your baby will be fine.
  • Yes, have definitely stopped, was just paranoid and then had mix feelings reading about how some women/doctors say it’s okay to have occasional drink and others/CDC say absolutely not. Lots of confusion lol but thank you!
